  • The plaintiff says he hired the defendant to work for him, but he had to fire her for disrespect. He claims she showed up with a group of men who started shooting at him and then she stole his property, so he suing. The defendant says the plaintiff was a terrible boss who slept with employees. She quit because he failed to pay her, so she’s suing for unpaid wages and emotional distress.

    • @MajorKeys714
      @MajorKeys714 Рік тому +1

      Yes, the producers help these people prepare their case. That's why they all have case files to give to the judge, evidence on pages that are numbered like a little book. Judge Lauren Lake likes evidence and exhibits as well. These are teaching moments that help people think logically about their arguments. Mathis & Lake do this because they care about people and want to show them the power of critical thinking and evidence when trying to win an argument. Mathis doesn't play--evidence wins the case. If you've got good evidence, then your point is valid. If your opponent has no proof at all, he loses. I used to teach argument to college students taking Freshman composition. You write an essay claiming your hospital overcharged you, you better prove it--receipts, comparisons, records, etc. That's the only way you'll get your money back. Save everything, take screenshots, put it all in a folder. That's how you will win.

    The plaintiff definitely has issues (compulsive lying being at the forefront). However, many of the commenters evidently don't understand the nature of business ownership. There are so many avenues leading to successful (or failed) business ventures. Every business owner (especially small business owners) is not wealthy or even middle class financially speaking. Some business owners still work a separate job to make ends meet. Some could make more money working for someone else but prefer to be their own boss. Some rent rooms, live at home with parents, live off spouse's income, etc., UNTIL they can get their business off the ground and increase revenues and profits.
    Many of you in the comments probably have the makings of being business owners but are holding yourselves back because of unfounded fears related to lack of information and support from family and friends. Take to heart the comment of @ D Davis below.

    Ok well 1st the last paycheck info he stated is not entirely correct. Labor laws vary
    But usually when a company FIRES you, a person is to receive all wages owed at the end of employment based company policy and state law. Either in hand, cause the company can cut a check or it can go to direct deposit.
    In SOME STATES, like CA, if the employee is NOT paid their last wages within a certain period, the person gets additional monies awarded to them automatically. Which is a $100 per day past the day person was to receive it.
