Between people, it certainly CAN & often does get a LOT more diabolical than that. I’d put that under a heading of “slick,” or “callous,” & rather “glib” as a character feature.
“Diabolical” is another way of saying “demonic,” which tends to involve the kind of harm that’s unresolvable.
But you ARE right, on the whole! There’s a questionable intent behind calling someone “my boo,” who may or may not be that. Some people call everyone close to them in any way their “boos.”
Best to call a person what THEY prefer to be called. Then, nobody’s decency or decent-intention is at question.

Well, we can all speculate. Most in the comments have. But for a legal case, it’s informative to arbiters & to jurors (if any), because it “characterizes” a person’s relationship to another person. Willing participant? Flirting with trouble? Asking for trouble? Too naïve/selfish to know right from wrong? Deceptive & manipulative-for gain? Deceptive & manipulative out of habit?
In a legal cases, it’s best-practice to remove ambiguities. It’s better to determine the actual nature of a person’s relationship(s) because it “characterizes” whatever they are swearing to.
Flirting with trouble? Asking FOR trouble? Too naïve / too selfish to know right from wrong? Deceptive & manipulative for gain, for favors? Deceptive, manipulative all the time?? “Sleeping with” the defendant? “Sleeping with” several others? Never even at that point-& showering with gifts & aid??
Determining intent is important AND often, is all there is to go on, IF the individual or both individuals are being “honest.” More likely, when people have to resolve matters in court at all, DISHONESTY-between them-is the root cause.

When I was a kid in the 1980s, my parents had a male acquaintance who was a handsome ex-military dude, but still very fit for his age. As much as he talked about women and slept with them, the other adults would always say things to suggest he messed around with men. It all made sense because there was an older gay man, sort of like the plaintiff in this case, who drove a nice car and wore expensive clothes and jewelry. Whenever he came around, the friend would get in the car with him and go away for a bit. He would always return with money and new clothes. He would go into a rage when someone called him a punk ("DL" was not a term being used back then) or mentioned him having sex with that old man. As much as he denied it in public, he continued to go with that man whenever that car pulled up.
