  • Vanlife would be terrible if every time you stopped short everything in the back of the van ended up in the front of the van. During the Van Build one of the most critical parts is anchoring. Anchoring the van cabinets in place. Anchoring the van floor in place, the bed and everything else that we want to stay in the back of the van. Promaster, Sprinter and Transit vans are all built basically the same for conversion or building out for van life or stealth tiny home living. The van body is metal. There are several ways to attach to the steel structure. We chose to Jack Nuts. Partly because that's what we could get, but mostly because Jack nuts provide a secure and reliable way to attach things to the van. Plus nuts are very similar. Riv nuts appear to do the same job but they require a special tol for installation.

I love your channel. The engineering on the DIY tool was brilliant! I’m building out a 2023 Promaster and struggling with setting Riv Nuts bigger than M6. I simply don’t have the strength with the tool or even the DIY tool. Had to have someone else come in and squeeze the handles on the M8’s, and most of them are M8’s! Wondering if I should have gone with Jack Nuts, didn’t know they existed until this video. But I suppose compressing steel is compressing steel and it takes a certain amount of strength to do it. I’m too weak. :(

Hi Vanity Bitty - Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I had never seen anyone using the Jack Nuts on a van build before either. My local auto supply store said they were what they sold people trying to reinstall a truck mirror that had been knocked off. I figured with these I didn't need to buy a special tool - and I didn't need to be strong !!! If you're doing a promaster check out my roof rack - it'll save you a ton make you feel really good :) ua-cam.com/video/vaktvBhjgBo/v-deo.html Hope you'll stop back .... be well ... Dave

That gets complicated. I have a galley to bolt down, a bed & some storage. Those jack nuts are the way? I gotta get busy figuring this out. I still have the composite wall skin covering all of my walls. They will have to come down. Then the spools of wire need to get rolled out. (Leave a few 12v lines along the same path as the solar panels, out onto the roof…)
    Check!
    Thank you

We had the panels in our van when we got it too ... and the plastic floor - it all comes out

David. Thanks for watching and commenting. Unfortunately no matter how hard I try to buy local there are some things that I simply can’t get. It seems Amazon may be winning. Be well my friend.
