The video is a newsclip where they talk about the (at the time) newly purchased Estline ship "Vironia", later renamed as "Mare balticum" to avoid association with Estonia. The video seems to be of Estonia, as Vironia was not yet available to film in (and indeed, Estline were taking delivery of it on the day of the sinking).
The man also reveals that the previous day they had decided to name the ship "Vironia" after a naming competition which took place in September 1994.
Assuming that the video was filmed for this particular newsclip, this is probably Estonia weeks before sinking.

It's definitely Estonia, as there's a deckplan visible at the beginning of the video showing the plate of MS Estonia.

Still well within reach of divers of many levels. And if you think what it said in a book that while only the bow of the ship (without its visor) was visible to the one of the rescued the stern of the ship already touched seabed you get the idea of the depth.

This ship was very loud and you "felt" the water much more than on other ships. I have been on all of them, but Estonia (Viking sally when i was on it) was different. It just felt more cheap. You could feel and hear the ride and it was not as stable as the other ships i've been on earlier. I went in 1989 and it just sucked.

0:18 looks nice and normal, but that man stairway o the ship is where probably 300 people got brutally, savagely annihilated in the PITCH dark, because those stair were sideway and they couldn't reach the 10 too the landing to get out as the ship would have been on it's side, THEN 105 degrees, then 180 degrees meaning up the stairs is now leading to the bottom of the ocean. The icecold water that is SO cold it's so painul you can't even breathe correctly for the irst 30 seconds, but it's not like they waded in, TONNES of Water crashed over them in the dark and BLASTED them into walls, into eachother. Hopefully they were all brutally killed instantly or got heavily KO'd before they drowed. But certainly some percentage of the people on that stairwell were still alive as that room was completely full of the black water and they were holding their breath as LONG as they could beore their lungs gave out, and they breathed in, Coughing VIOLENTLY, the PAIN of that ICE COLD BLACKNESS in your lungs while you're trying to cough it up, but everything time you cough and trying to breathe you instanlty cough again over and over again as you can't breath in water... my god...now there is nothing but probably 10's of THOUSANDS of bones on the ceiling part of this area now.

    • @sullybiker6520

Yep, the diving investigation said there were too many bodies to count in the central stairwell, as well as the narrow ones at the bow end.

You have just given the victims a chance to tell their side of the story.
A nightmare scenario of screaming, cries of the dieing and a brutal inescapable death.
It's horrible and on a sinking ship, it's almost always the same.

I have read that for legal reasons divers are forbidden to release footage taken in and around that stairwell. I had heard 'human remains were still very visibly inside it' and they 'were in abundance'. Dunno how true any of that is.

Not so much anymore, but I remember in the late-90's they really sold video games in those tax free shops, also sometimes the kids' playroom had a PlayStation, so you could buy a game and go try it out right away. And then there was of course an arcade filled with quality games plus maybe a couple of cabinets just scattered elsewhere on the ship for good measure. Good times...
