In the months following Pearl Harbor, the Imperial Japanese Navy conducted operations at sea, threatening British Royal Navy dominance in the area.
The most dangerous moment of the war, and the one which caused me the greatest alarm, was when the Japanese fleet was heading for Ceylon and the naval base there. The capture of Ceylon, the consequent control of the Indian Ocean, and the possibility at the same time of a German conquest of Egypt would have closed the ring and the future would have been black.
- Prime Minister Winston Churchill, April 1942
March 31, 1942, Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, her forces had overrun Hong Kong, Malaya, Singapore, the Dutch East Indies, and Burma. Now the Imperial Japanese Navy and Army were heating up for an assault on India, the jewel in the British imperial crown.

Fun fact: I love to fall asleep with Wolfpack videos in the background. Not because they’re boring, quite the opposite actually. I don’t really know why, something about U-boat and naval combat videos makes me sleep like a rock.. 😂
Same 😅
Omg they do put you to sleep so fast I try to watch his videos and stay up and I just cant
If the UK can have HMS Decoy, I say the USN should have USS Pocket Sand!
Uss thigh highs
There's been some rather hilarious names of ships, especially Royal Navy. Even more during WW2 that people firmly believe 2 paticular people working in Royal Navy admin purposely chose outlandish names, due to not being where they wanted to be within the Royal navy.
The funniest one for me will always be HMS Beaver.
HMS Black Joke(this ship was actually a slave trade hunter), HMS Dainty, HMS Plucky. US had some weird names, USS Hoe, USS Rock, USS Plunger which I think was a submarine too.
Lol, ah yes. My grandpa was on her sister ship the USS Squirrel Tactic!
We rarely name our ships anything cool anymore. It's all people and places. 😑
The IJN does seem to be prosecuting this campaign with a lot more gusto than what took place historically. Good job Wolfpack.
Nagumo must have taken his courage medicine today.

Thought: hey, new part of the Med campaign, great!
Turns out, new War on the Sea, so even better! 😂
Wow, those .303s really lived up to their reputation during that flying boat raid against HMS Indomitable.
I have a killer migraine right now, but that won't stop me from watching one Wolfpack's videos. I love your channel man❤
I heard if you but your feet in warm water it will help.
i have found wild Lettice extract capsules to be very effective at stopping a migraine they are sold as a sleep aid (and work quite well for that) but they also get rid of a migraine
@@John.S.Patton I've heard that before. I think it has more to do with relaxation than anything else.
@@alexmanino3839 well there videos on it that goes more in depth with it.
That intro music just hits different, would be really excited about another SH4 playthrough 👀
I want a modded SH4 playthrough. Either with the US Navy or another Navy like the Japanese, British or even the Italians. I know they all had their own unique doctrine and designs.
This was a fun episode, it's actually interesting due to the fact at the start of the war with the British having so many carriers and it being still relatively early in before seeing the full carrier use (before USA entered the war, and Italian port attack done by the British.) The British formed sub should I say U-Boat hunter killers with the carrier being the main hunter, along with her escorts. While it may appear over kill and there was some serious success with having these hunter groups, another carrier was sunk by a U-Boat performing these actions. Hence the British scrapping the idea. However, I'd like to point out an infamous carrier that was actually impressive in this role I have a model of her, and that is HMS Illustrious. What you see play out in this game happened with Illustrious not once but twice, on two separate occasions while in hunter mode she successfully dodged torpedoes fired at her, only in real life both were extremely close with one actually grazing along side the ship.
I appreciate that hunter killer reference.
Side note, HMS Illustrious had a rather funny moment play out that would happen again with the Falklands war with HMS Invincible, that is the enemy fully believing they had not only struck the ship but sunk her.
German perspective, formation of German aircraft spot HMS Illustrious accompanied with 2 battleships, the aircraft would pick out the carrier as their target. Upon attacking most German bombs went wide, however a formation went by releasing bombs. Looking back after hearing the explosions, they see waves going over HMS Illustrious deck. Later on, on the same day a German recon aircraft spotted two British battleships the same one that was formed up with HMS Illustrious. Illustrious had been sunk.
British perspective, upon being attacked from the air the captain and crew performed their duty of their upmost best, reacting accordingly and upon seeing another small formation of German aircraft heading in on their attack run, at the last moment the captain had his ship hard to port causing the German bombs to fall dangerously close, so close the explosion caused the spray to go over the ship deck. HMS Illustrious was perfectly fine and would split away from formation to had back to port with new orders awaiting.
It's shows confusion in wartime, unfortunately for the Germans not only did they count their eggs before they hatched, they went on to gloat about Illustrious sinking throwing wild celebrations. This would absolutely haunt them at the moment HMS Illustrious was shown off by the British who had heard the crazy Celebrations not only showing her afloat but carrying out more actions against them. It made the Germans look like right fools.
It would be so cool if you could use all the Royal Navy ships in a whole campaign in this and the main pacific theatre, like a what if scenario, using ships like kgv’s, hood, ark royal, indomitable class etc. that would be epic
Hood and Ark Royal Already Sunk By Kriegsmarine, if KGV was send to Indian Ocean Theatre the Royal Navy at Atlantic Ocean will become significant Weaken and maybe Royal Navy won't make same mistake to send King George V to bring of Destruction by Devastating Aerial Attack from Japanese you know what i mean (Prince Of Wales BB and Repulse BC) maybe Royal Navy still traumarized
And Do not Forget The Royal Navy still need to fight in 3 Theatre (Mediterania, Atlantic and Indian Ocean and even before Jap succesfull invade South East Asia the Royal Navy need to fight in 4 front in one time : Mediterania, Antlantic,South East Asia and Indian Ocean) becuz that they weren't able to send many ship out of bases remember the economy RN Is more weaker than USN
Those British DD's and their Sonar are on point finding those subs so quickly.
can you imagine the sheer tension from the crew if it saw a torpedo that close to your boat? 22:24
Seems like it's pretty difficult to predict the enemy movements in this scenario. The IJN fleets keep surprising you.
Just think- scuba divers are going to have a field day when they discover all those shallow wrecks near Calcutta in about 50 years or so
war graves are probably not really where tourist divers are supposed to go. but all the pre nuclear steel from the ships would prob be stolen anyway
@@skittelsfun who said anything about tourists?
A heroic effort by Force B to evacuate the battered remnants of Port Blairs garrison, I'm sure they'll prove useful in the defence of Ceylon, that and the losses inflicted on the IJNs submarine fleet.
The invasion of Port Blair and the bombardment of other Allied positions around the Indian Ocean could be the precursor to a much larger offensive, sort of similar to your last playthrough during the Centrifugal Offensive campaign.
Let’s go, India definitely does not get enough credit.
Wolfpack...BE ADVISED...you need SUBS to defend the coast
I think he stopped using submarines a few series ago because his body count with just one submarine available was just insane, the AI doesn't seem equipped to handle Wolfpack in a sub
@@Friday_Monday Correct. O-19 pretty much carried his ABDACOM campaign, being the single deadliest ship in the fleet. I mean he's literally named Wolfpack, what did you expect?
@@Friday_MondayHe did say he will get a sub this campaign though

Great to see the Royal Navy in action.
I not sure why but i love watching this game! Especially your series wolfpack.
Thank you for your hard work wolfpack! Its much appreciated
Oh boy! More War on the Sea goodness!
Historically, the Fairey Fulmar was utilized as both a recon aircraft and fighter. It's no match for Zeroes but it can be used to intercept bombers I suppose.
Me after making the unfortunate realization that there is in fact a war.
On the seas no less.
Love the use of the silent hunter music
I bought war on the sea because of your videos. Is there any chance you might do a tutorial video on it?
I am going to ask again. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a video on how to install the MODS for us people who are not computer literate. Love your streams.
Excited to see you get your own sub fleet
Nice run considering you saved all the men on the island and destroyed 3 submarines. Keep up the good work.
The allies were under so much pressure in the early part of the war. This game shows it.
You are really on your back foot on this one. Can't wait to see how you rally. Loving it!
When you make the mistake of attacking the king of submarine warfare you end up paying the ultimate price LOL 9:02
Perfect timing! Thanks Wolfpack
Always a good job bro!! Liked the finesse, "aircraft already on deck"
Evading torps would be easier if you set the rudder manually to full or hard instead of plotting an evasive course. The command for a real evasive maneuver wouldn’t be „Take me to a specific point on the map“ but „Rudder full/hard port“.
Wrong. The real life command would be, "I don't know. Go that way," says the captain, pointing.
after watching the first two episodes i went back and binged ur ABDACOM series and am starting your other ones as well. keep up the amazing work brother.
Thanks for the adventure always thrilling
Your content never disappoints Wolfpack!
Fun Fact the Japanese fielded more submarines in Pacific than the Kiegsmarine did in the Atlantic campaign. Love the series so far Wolfpack
I bought this game I do not regret it it is very fun although the plane cap can be annoying sometimes. 8/10 game would recommend. Keep up the good videos and good luck
This campain its right difficult, but thats make more and more interessant.
these are great. thanks for posting.
Seems like a good challenge for Wolfpack!
Finally!!!
Same i have been waiting for about 3 days for this which is perfectly reasonable for a video like this
Gwaaaaaaaaaa!!!
It's 2 am and tomorrow I have to work... "Oh, new war on the seas video!"
Hi WP! Great to see the game expand to another strategic map. First rate!
This one was the score for the sadistic samurais, all things considered.
Thank you 😊😊
Man, Its just me or in those modifications AI is just better? I would be probably already in hopeless situation in Wolfpack's place. But great vid a always
6:01 - 6:03 - INDOMITABLE: BAY OF BENGAL! Slooowwlly I turned!😂(If you're a Three Stooges fan you'll get it.)
The Type J subs got WREKKED in this video! I'm guessing they're using the J1 for all the variations (J1, J1M, J2, and J3), and you just sank three of them, so there's only five left. If they're using different sub mods for different variations, then they're definitely screwed, as there were only four J1 boats in all. Nice work!
Looks like the AI aggression has been ramped up quite a bit in this mod.
No surprise there! The Japanese used subs as patrolling pickets! An idea that I am trying to get J76ny to look at!
Wolfpack you’re too good for this enemy AI. Love the videos but I think a little struggle for the allies would definitely be a nail bitter.
Wow you sank 3 of the 4 Type J1s in one episode.
Hit like and subscribe to support the Wolfpack !!
This seems way harder than previous series.
Come to think of it, I wonder how would a campaign using ONLY submarines would look like. No CVs, no BBs, no DDs, just subs and transport. Aircraft only to scout and defend.
Indeed!
If you set a course while turning it becomes a half rudder turn.
Will we get to see big battleships in this campaign like HMS prince of wales
How did the North Sentinelese tribe survive Japanese occupation of Andaman and Nicobar islands. Imperial Japanese Navy of those days was not really known for its understanding for strangers that killed their sailors or rikusentai that probably tried and explore the island even if the lethal blows were dealt by mere arrows.
9:54 That's what they said, too! :D
The sub tension!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Loving it. Great stuff!
I'm not a big fan of the game, but I do enjoy your videos of it.
Nice commentary I like to say, you should thinking of trying to do documentaries as well, you got the right voice!
I love this new wos episode damn struggle
Sea Hurricane is a derarative of the Hurricane fighter with 8 0.303 Browning Machine Guns. Top speed of 330 mph but still slower than the Zero by 40 mph!
Zero however has basically sheet metal for armor. Even a .30 caliber bullet can penetrate it. Most IJA and IJN air assets sacrificed armor protection for extended range
Depending on which Sea Hurricane, it could have 4x 20mm Hispano cannons, but the Mk Ic was even slower, IIRC
I've played this campaign recently as the british as well, is it just me or are hurricane comically bad? even fighting dive bombers and torpedo bombers with only rear gunners I lose so many hurricanes that I barely ever think they are worth it.
Love these series ❤
Fascinating!
Great video!
Good one.
Keep em comin
Great job
Love these vids
Two questions.
1. Are submarines available to you?
2. If yes, will you acquire a couple?
I'm hoping for yes and yes.
😊❤😊
they definitely are but in previous campaign he said he chooses not to use them because he doesn't particularly like playing them and finds them a bit boring to play and it makes the game more difficult
Second! My fav series!
Good one keep it up 😃
Love it!
I didn't know there were Sea Hurricanes'?
wow ive never been this early
SH4 music at the start
Repeating my question from Ep. 1, why don`t you use submirins yourself, Wolfpack?
It seems far too easy to detect and destroy subs and how can you see torpedoes in the water at night? Seems unrealistic.
Sighted Sub, Sank same.............
Depth charges
IJN Subs:we will take a peace from the US
IJN Subs:The Air Craft Carrier is Ripe for the taking!
IJN Subs: Fire the Torpedoes.
IJN Subs:It's a miss.
Imploded!
I was like 778. I'm sorry I spoiled your luck.
One of the ironies of the Pacific war is that Japanese submarines preformed rather poorly, as they tried to use pre-war American tactics.
The American "Fleet Submarine" idea was to use subs as part of a standard battlegroup. US boats were specifically designed to cruise at ten knots and make twenty at full, since that was the performance of the older standard battleships. The idea was that to sail together to enemy waters then detach the subs to be pickets, a moveable minefield, or best yet a hammer and anvil catching the enemy between the battle line and the torpedoes. to meet these requirements, Gatos and their relatives were much larger than the standard German Type VII commerce raider, and had twice as many torpedo tubes as they were meant to launch huge salvoes to take down warships, not strike convoys.
So Eastern subs often went after warships - meaning they actively went towards the escorts. When they were on patrol lines, it was easy to trace from one to another. That is part of how USS England was able to rack up here legendary kill count so quickly.
V nice
Ello ello! May I ask you a question since you’re super good at this game?
nice
hi
I decided to try out some Hurricanes against Betty's in IL2 1946 and the 12 .303's suck, I can empty almost all my ammo into one of them at 6 o'clock and it still isn't a kill until they try to land and the AI gets confused
Do you know when this mod will be available?
It's available now
I hate sub combat. I can never detect the sub, so it's a constant case of do-over.
Too short :((((((
How do I get these MODs?
...and comment.
Why not flood the sea with your own subs? Their a cheap way to defend
