“i wanna be king until i am” that line meant nothing to me 3 years ago but now it has me questioning my entire personality
It really is a straight genius line if you think about it
Tell me about it. What does it mean for you?
What does it mean
@@gogaschnitzel3222 We want everything in the world until we have it; what do have left when there is nothing else to obtain?
Young Fathers are proof that even in this day and age, with all the music that's been made so far, it's still possible to produce something unique. People say it's hard to be original now, but they just lack creativity. Outstanding in every sense!
Tell that to Paul Joseph Watson please.
I agree with you, although to me these guys sound like TV On The Radio, which is a not a bad thing :)
People dont lack creativity, they lack ambition to actually start imo, what do u think?
@@apachehelicopter7625 I think ambition and creativity go hand in hand.
its not hard to be original in the sense they just want to copy. its hard because companies want whats proven to work. so its hard to try to produce something new and get the backing and distribution for it.
I don't even mind that Google keeps making this album pop up everywhere. This is art
Queen Sono brought me here and I'm so proud of that series! Big ups to the production team and to SA🇿🇦
Eternal props to the Mother Continent as a whole. In my view Black unite from America to the Diaspora
listening for the first time in 2023. Blown away
If you can, see them live. It will elevate your appreciation of them by magnitudes. Always good to hear of new fans 👍
Hot Ones brought me here... I’m glad they did!
@@8JFJK8 Thanks, Noel. Me as well.
shut up
3:12 that belly relax
This album is intensely underrated
Queen Sono brought me here❤🇿🇦
Queen Sono brought me here, the whole scene was a bomb 🔥🔥
初めて聞いた時から名曲だと思ったけど、時間を置いた今、聞いてて切なくも温かな気持ちになるこの曲に出会えたことを幸運だと思う。
One of the most under rated Scottish musical talents of all time. They release bangers and soulful tracks and it's not often you find a skip track on their albums. They just don't get the recognition they deserve...
I only just discovered these guys bout a month ago and honestly I just don't understand the lack of recognition as they sound superb
"Scottish"
@@Safe-and-effectivethey're Scottish
@@ahhh6328 no doubt about it...100%
@@Safe-and-effective dude they're so Scottish that they made the music for T2 Trainspotting. Can't get more Scots than this.
i love seeing men be vulnerable and emotional. absolutely beautiful. y'all can't write a bad song.
This!
Yaaaas
my life is better since i discovered young fathers
This is the evolution of music, we are witnessing the next wave. Wave back!
I can’t deal with this goodness, so cultic and beautiful.
It’s been about 5 years since falling in love with their music in Trainspotting 2. Still not tired of their music & elelated to hear the new single Geronimo ❤️🔥
Masterpiece, I can play this song over and over again and it always gives me goosebumps🖤
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long time.
The equalizer brought me here , irregardless I’m glad we are all here 😊
i've lost track of how many times ive cried over this so far lmao it's so beautiful and visceral like
between the music and the beautiful cinematography you can really feel the emotions of the folks in these wee stories
makes me feel so vulnerable
young fathers make me really proud to be black and scottish
represent, lads
I love your choice of the word visceral, it’s perfect not only for this song but it really sums up the energy of Young Fathers as a whole.
Represent!!
Yes this is the most emotional video. So beautiful. I’ve been a fan of these guys for a while and I think this is my favorite of their videos.
Based black scotsman
This song should be famous worldwide! ❤️
This song low-key make me cry inside...Phenomenal!
this is probably one of the best songs i have heard in a long time
What words that hold true + song/video that conveys a unique behinds the scene look in as how they can work best together 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Young Fathers can do no wrong, I love how they unashamedly show the sensitive side to masculinity.. Love 'em!
true that
You must of not seen their Scottish gallery video, that’s wrong
@ max , don't mention it LoL
Blokes wearing make up = "sensitive side"? Huh? Bit shallow. Fantastic song though
Didn't see the Scottish museum huh? Idiot
Queen Sono brought me here 😫❤️
Startling tune. Heard it on the radio in the other room. Had me in a trance.
Queen sono put me on ❤️
This is honestly one of the greatest songs I’ve ever listened too.
Afrobeat, hip hop, garage, punk edge. Gold!
I'll always link this song to January 2018 and my room in Lisbon, and how I listened to it on repeat for days, and danced frenetically around. "Don't say it out loud, just let me dance."
Young Fathers there are prouf of the autentic music. I listen to them all days.
Queen Sono
yes
Forest Swords love your music too man
Forest Swords I learned about your music from this coment, you have some sick things congrats made a new fan.
This video literally was made by the same team who made the Panic video, right?
mhm
yes
my university tutor showed this in first year and i’m always eternally grateful for him opening my eyes to these gods wow hello thank you pete
More on the video from director Jack Whiteley:
"I started with the question: how do you make people care about your video? In the age of the internet anything seems to go. Videos can be controversial and shocking or just purely bizarre or beautiful, and they don’t necessarily have to make sense. So, in collaboration with the band, I came up with a set of vignettes that attempts to tick these boxes in order to elicit an emotional response from the viewer.
"We then threw in an added meta curveball layer by deconstructing what you’re seeing within the video itself, to the point where we’re essentially presenting a step-by-step guide on how to make a video that people will care about and therefore will want to share online.
"I love videos that challenge perceptions, pull the rug from under the viewer, offer twists and subvert things, and so that’s what we’ve reached for here. I hope you care about it. And if you do, don’t forget to share. Because sharing is caring." (via Promonews)
Huh, I almost feel a little bad about scrolling down to read the comments while listening to the song and not even watching the video. Ah well, I don't need the video to enjoy the amazing song.
@sardonicspirals go back and watch it again then! It's brilliant
it's a lil like the karmacoma video? and i think Young Fathers are Massive Attack-esque in their new butthole tearing of the music scene, it's no wonder they collabed, they're out there on their own the two of them
Super fór pil
Well, I hope The Young Fathers are live as good as in this video, coz they are in the same tour as Florence and the Machine, as 1st to play. Didn't expect this though, thank God it's a good band.
I saw them open for florence + the machine the other day and now im obsessed
I have yet to hear a bad tune from these boys
the part from 2:48 to the end literally needs to be like 2 minutes longer, I don't know why but i just love playing it over and over
beyond amazing. i love what you do to my eyes, ears and spirit. thank you, young fathers.
Young fathers is the soundtrack to my life.
Greatest Scottish band currently.
Fire. Best song I’ve heard in the past year.
you are truly amazing. Your every song, every music video, everything is just wonderful and can touch my soul in a way no other band can. Thank you for creating. Please, never stop doing what you are doing. Have a beautiful day, guys. You beautiful people. God. Damn. It.
I've got shivers on whole body
There's grandeur to this music.
I get that it's only January but I swear this could be my favorite song of 2018. It's a goddamn masterpiece.
Obsessed with this band
God, this song is so fucking good
Queen Sono brought me here... This is soo beautifully powerful
Quality over quantity
fantastic profile picture
Another Very Paranoid Android likewise
🙌🏽
naturally good
Superb. You make Edinburgh proud:)
Damn right they do!
that changes everything fk these guys
Для меня Young Fathers открытие этого года! Жаль, что не услышала их раньше. In My View один из любимых треков теперь ❤
This instrumental is FIRE !!
Your music is lifesaving
Cocoa Sugar was easily my favorite album of 2018, but I think also for the past 5 years. That album just fucking moved me, man.
Its Young Fathers Season again......FINALLY!!!!!!
These guys don't know how to write a bad song
Right? How is it even possible still?
Maximilian Gallant cortese el pelo gei
Maximilian Gallant they just did tho 😂😂😂😂😂
Oh yes they do. They are awful.
They maybe don't know how they did it - but they just did. This is just really poor stuff, meant to appeal to the pretentious Arty brigade who know nothing about music.
Noel Gallagher, on hot ones bought me here, and I'm glad he did!
saame
Yeah me
i will always be in his debt
Sameee
Me, too.
One of the best bands out there right now easily.
this song makes me emotional... so damn good. thank you, yf.
heartbreaking n uplifting all at once!! gorgeous!!!
Just seen them live as the support for Florence and the Machine - it was amazing :)
Same 😂
same B)
I’m at her concert right now in Rotterdam and they’re performing atm, I had to look them up after this song 😍
Me too, but they played as a duo (+ drummer). Has G Hastings left the band?
I find them much more original and genuine than Florence and the Machine, definitely deserve more attention
My sister introduced me to you guys and I'm so thankful. So much talent.
breathtaking ❤️
YES THANK YOU OH MY GOD
This is emotionally overwhelming in the best way. Love it!
I don't know how many times I've listened to this since it came out
Great. Make sure and share it too.
Absolute belter!
Cannae wait to see you guys at Barrowlands!
Jesus fuck, incredible. These guys will be remembered for a very long time. Big up Edinburgh!
Young papis
when music is a boat and you start sailing... keep this wind blowing, guys!
Brilliant band
Holy shit
I predict this song will be major success and will be on the radio summer 2018 😊
Queen Sono brought me hear ❤❤❤❤❤
Like a fine wine laced with punk and hip hop. Beautiful
Heard of this band last night for the first time.
If Fela and Groove Armada had a baby. Glorious
best band on the world !!!!!!
a very emotive song with an equally emotive video. This the shit i like; songs that make you feel something. i could listen on repeat all day.
This...is magnificent. I can't stop listening to your music, nor will I. Thank you, Young Fathers.
