Man, i do come back to this video quite frequently, I love the cranking of old carbed chevy's and how i took a while to startup, wish I had a truck i could cope start and whatnot.
Drove one of these as a work truck on a farm. Cold start give her two pumps and turn the key then wait to warm up and idle down. Warm start just turn the key. All the time every time.
my grandfather used to have one of the old carbed chevys that used to take forever to start it was so exciting waiting for it to finally crank over he used to abuse it to high hell idk how it was so minimally damaged he hit trees with it to show off (rip tree) and i miss it
Little kid memories of mom having a panic attack at the light turned green and stalling at takeoff just to get it running again when it turned red again and then the road rage that followed I almost forgot until the famous stall under load 😱
Love the classic Chevy starter sound, but there was a little too much of it. Seems like the choke needs adjustment. Should fire right up even in 30 degree weather.
seems like a combo of she is really tuned for warmer weather, and she wasn't getting enough gas for those cranks at the beginning. Love this truck tho; they don't make'em like it anymore.
She runs great with warm weather and takes forever to crank in cold weather. I was pumping the gas ever 10 seconds tho and I think I flooded it a little so I cranked right up eventually. Also thanks and yeah they really don’t make them like they used to
@@americanmusclemaniac9565 - no sweat,; sometimes that happens, your right foot gets a bit too excited and gives'er too much juice. Like you said, just keep on crankin' and she will light up.
It actually wasn’t my dads truck. When I started to like old cars and trucks we didn’t have any old vehicles. He bought it for me for 1800 in 2019 when I was 13
Yep getting my permit to drive in less than 2 weeks. I was pretty lucky to get the truck so early. My dad wanted to get one before there prices went sky high and he wanted one because he had a 4 wheel drive 84 Chevy K-10 as his first truck
Boy I wouldn’t even want to attempt starting that in 20 degree weather you’d need a spare battery! I have diesels that start in the negatives easier then this truck starts at 50 above

I agree with you Callum!!

The best!!! Would have loved to seen a good cold start like this from inside the truck
I was going to do both but I was not able to but the next cold start will be inside the truck

I don't know how I missed this one, buddy, but whoa! Love all the cranking :)
Thanks I loved cold starting it
Great closeup view of the tailpipes and smoke.
This is the car equivalent of older guy that's been smoking for 40 years
😂
It’s just floded
Thar was awesome man. Would gave loved to been behind your truck while you pump it. Love the smell of old gasoline engines.
Yeah it really does sound good
Really great video! The cranking sounded amazing!
Thanks

@@americanmusclemaniac9565 at 1.48 you can hear someone say "yeah man" and "i cant start it" guess you though it was not going to start as well loo

Sounded like it was flooded
It was
cmon baby please start! cmon id be begging it to turn over
You could use this thing as a smoke bomb with all the smoke this thing made.
It’s not a Prius, you don’t have to hold the brake to start it
Yeah I know it just became a habit
@@americanmusclemaniac9565 Fair enough, habits are hard to break
Why did it shut off after warming up?
