@FlufftonTail monomer is generally used with acrylics because it needs to mix with the acrylic powder. Polygel/hybrid gel does not require a monomer to cure, but it uses rubbing alcohol as a "slip" solution
Nakita Raulerson I did it and they make it seem easier than it is . Might be my lack of experience but they don’t show everything that can or goes wrong during the process .
You make it look so easy. I use this and it takes me 2hrs to have decent looking nails... and even with all that time, some nails end up being thicker than others... Not to mention that you need to be careful with the liquid, because if the brush is too wet, the gel is not gonna work properly. 🤦🏽♀️
thicker nails is actually better. The nails that she did actually looked TOO thin. You need that strength so that the tip just doesn't break off. A little bit of a thicker nail is better for structure and strength
I started off with clear tips instead of just going for dual forms straight up It's better to have thicker nails as long as you build a good apex and you don't make it too thick around the cuticle
Jennifer Garay-Santiago Agreed . There’s so many things that can or do go wrong during the process and I wish they’d show that too . Specially for a beginner like me .
I definitely need to try this!! They turned out pretty good, and it looks relatively simple. And a whole lot cheaper than getting my nails done at the salon.
I just did my first set and it came out pretty good. I love how you get enough time to play with the gel to make it perfect before curing. Hopeful they last long. I want to try French next
Make sure your nails are properly prepped before applying. There are natural oils on your nails. Be sure to properly dehydrate the nail before application of the polygel
Also a tip for anyone seeing this, don't touch the gel to your skin :) It can easily develop into an irreversible allergic reaction if you aren't careful.
I did my poly gel nails. I made the nails one day, let it sit for the night and the next day I put them on, cured them and filed! Comes out much nicer!
@Still Love I am guessing they might mean they did the gel portion on the forms and evened them out, so the next day, they could place them and do the rest of the work! Won't dry without curing, so I guess that works!

Okay I know this comment is from like a year ago but I have some advice. If fake nails aren't sticking as well it usually means your nailbeds are oily. If you dehydrate them with acetone before you start the nails should stay much longer. 👍

Yes, you can, although I would not recommend, dipping powder creates an another layer on top of the poly gel nails so it will make it thicker now thicker means there will be more risks of falling if faster so to sum that up yes, if you want it for that moment and not want it to last more than 2~3 weeks, it works
