It always gives me a chuckle about the original TCM. Its director, Tobe Hooper, originally thought it should have been rated PG!! Of course, they didn't have PG-13 at the time of its release, but I found extremely SCARY--not extremely GORY, as the title implies. Still one of the best original horror movies out there. Now, if you want a complete change in atmosphere, I suggest viewing Part 2. I laughed my butt off during that one--especially at Bill Mosely, who played "Chop Top."

'A Serbian Film' is so disturbing, I didn't want to even admit I'd seen it to anyone. When asked what it was about, I was like....damn.... I can't even describe what this movie is about, there are scenes that even to this day I can't describe out loud, because it would mean admitting I'd actually watched them. I worry that people will think I'm demented, or worse, for watching it. THAT is how 'wrong' A Serbian Film truly is.
And, I'm a pretty hard core horror buff. It takes a lot to disturb me, and I mean, a LOT. Usually if a film involves harm to animals, that's where I'll draw a line, because I just can't take that.... A Serbian Film doesn't harm any animals.... it does worse.
And what makes it even more horrible, is it does it very, very well. The ultimate message of the film is that there is a market for the things depicted in the film, out there in the world. That there is a part of our society that WANTS to see such things, and is willing to pay to see them. The film brings attention to these atrocities, and the people that keep such 'business' IN business. And, ultimately, that such business needs to be stopped.

We rented 3 horror movies from the era (1980s).
Mother's Day was one of them, and we IMMEDIATELY loved it!
It is SO BAD, but it is endlessly quotable!
There are 2 brothers in the movie who are constantly arguing and fighting with each other...
Well, anyway, one of the Brothers was named "Adlee".
The other Brother spray painted "Adlee eats snake sh*t" on one of the walls inside their home, and for whatever reason, we all found this to be the funniest thing we had ever seen!

Something thing I did find comforting about the Saw 3-D execution scene was that even though some held out their phones and probably enjoyed seeing it, many of the onlookers were straight out terrified and probably concerned for her (even one of the two men looked genuinely upset about going through with it). Generally, in other forms of fictitious works, it seems the majority of citizens are thrilled about whatever may be happening, whether it be to a child, an adult, a male, a female, a human, an animal, whatever.
