You heard him, king. We´re all eager to see you lose your shit to the funniest movie about 9/11,terrorism and starring an all-puppet cast. Edited:Yeah,I get that the premise kinda narrows it down.
Actually started in the 60s, oh, I just looked, 1969 so barely in the 1960s. I also got into Monty Python animation using a program I wrote back in college, a few years before Matt & Trey (but I didn't do whole stories or lip sync).
South Park's schedule is what keeps them relevant. Being able to react to major news stories or events and put it into an episode right away. If they did it with everyone else, the news cycle is over and forgotten about. Like it would be a reference but not topical
The fact that Trey and Matt remained in control writing and producing is basically unheard of. Normally the people who create a show cartoon or live action will only stay on (the creative side) for the first two seasons before handing it off to other writers and producers. It's a big reason why it's such a continuously good show. They also didn't become raging Hollywood assholes. They remained grounded. South Park is great, the movie is great, team America is great, book of Mormon is one hell of a musical. Even their old stuff; baseketball, orgazmo, cannibal the musical, is good.
Absolute best part of this is the lady talking to the standards office about people shitting in each other's mouths and being sewn together, followed with "alright, happy Easter" Holy shit xD (literally)
True!! I was never the biggest fan of pork pies; but once I'd seen how they were made (about 20yrs ago), I've not had one since. The jelly's injected inside and then it congeals!! 🤮
To me, South Park's schedule is what makes them so good. especialy the newer season, they talk about current events and that is what makes them so good. Like the chatgpt thing and the kanye thing. If they had 1 year to do an episode I dont think it would hit as hard as it did with 1 week because it would not be as fresh in our heads.
Yo gabba gabba is a kids show about a musician named DJ Lance Rock, and his 5 toy pals: Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee, and Plex, who dance, sing, play, teach, and live in Gabbaland. It’s not animated it’s live action. South Park also referenced the show in the episode “taming strange”.
Fuck yes, now that you’ve seen a good amount of SP you can appreciate how insane the creators are. 2 dudes who don’t give a single fuck, took acid at the Oscar’s dressed as women. Everything I’ve ever wanted to do 😂 every episode is a time capsule of the exact zeitgeist of the era. If you wanna teach a history class as a lazy ass teacher just put on SP and tell the kids to google the shit they’ve never heard of. Oh and if you’ve never seen Monty Python, it’s high level 70s comedy that made incredible movies like “The Holy Grail” & ”Life of Brian” which are amazing
It's very satisfying to see that Trey and Matt know how to work together as a dynamic duo. I mean, think about it, Matt produces everything Trey creates. What a winning combination!
It's not actually every episode in 6 days. They do a lot of brainstorming at writers retreats before the season starts, it gets some seeds of ideas started. Some episodes sit at half finished for a few weeks until they have no ideas and they figure the rest out. And funnily enough they say the episodes they do in a week are the easiest and techniques they think about too long are difficult. The longest episode to produce was major boobage, about 6 months plus research time prior. They had to do traditional hand animation for the tripping scenes and hired contractors to help, it was 6 months of drawing.
I think that Matt and Trey are both doing the long shifts doing the work for making the show and not just telling their people to get the job done while they go home probably is why they are able to pull these crunches to make the show at this rate.
Its funny cause this was for "Humancentipad" but we see idea they decided to reuse later, like at 6 minutes, "Kevin James is a zookeeper!". Pretty sure thats from the episode where Stan gets depressed and sees everything as shit. They even talked about crack babies wich wasnt just a joke but a whole plot in the end lol. Their type of writing is crazy cause sometimes you can really be like, ok this bothered them that week so they made it a plot, but it makes so much gold. I legit couldnt do it, yes theyre off rest of the year but they still got other stuff and theyre working theyre asses off during that small period, massive respect! 🙃 and for your question, i think it would be a loooot different, if youre able to do something quick but take too much time, you start doubting the product more and more, and seeing how they got to be away for a while from an episode is done shows they would change so much if they could. But majority of the episodes we get are amazing so i dont think id trade it 😁
Love this doc , and yeah, their studio is dope. I also love how Bill Hader was in the writing room for the season and was actually the one who came up with the fish sticks joke just fun fact!
You should checkout the live south park concert matt and trey did for 25th anniversary, I streamed it live through paramount and cried because I could be there myself 😂
You asked if it would hit different of they had more time. I think it might actually damage the show, as they might over think things and the raw ideas might get too polished. A great thing about South Park is it feels raw and straight to the point
Yes, please react to The Spirit of Christmas AND Jesus Vs. Santa. They're both from before the actual show started airing and they're both pretty short but it's so amazing to see where they started and where they are now. Might also be worth checking out their 25th Anniversary concert live at Red Rocks Colorado.
Aye, about time you got around to this. Their process is insane and it's incredible that it even works. The fact they only missed one submission due to outage is both impressive and insane.
I think South Park thrives on the spontaneity. I feel like if Matt and Trey gave themselves too much time to think about the episodes they would never get one done. The time crunch forces them to commit to the jokes and make it work.
This is why no one bashes south park. It takes family guy months to make an season, by the time they bash south park everyone forgets why and south park can clap back in a week
Everybody loves south park because their main themes and plots are relevant and updated to the times they are releasing the episodes. then they have timeless issues and recurring societal conflicts based episodes as soon as they become a talking point in the media. then they make fun of both sides with savage humor. so taking their time just like simpsons or other animated shows wouldn't have made any difference imo. despite the short window of time to comes up with new episodes they still have 8.7 rating after 300+ episodes. if i am being honest i think south park deserves 8.9 or 9.0 rating, there are so many good episodes are highly underrated and the sample size for those ratings are pretty low compared to shows like Rick and Morty.
Monty python is awesome. React to them. That's who the animator was talking about when you said u never even heard of that. Start with the life of Brian
In my opinion, it would hit very different if it took loner to animate. Think of how cartoons in the 90s had dirty outlines and the mouths flickered when characters spoke, in something like Daria or season 1 Family Guy. It just has a different charm to it because it's not perfect. Like compare how the most recent seasons are compared to the specials over a longer period. Edit: Also the lipsyncing wasn't originally automatic, it became easier after they switched software with a built-in plugin. But it still needs some manual tweaking.
What's next? TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE 😂 definitely demonetized
You heard him, king. We´re all eager to see you lose your shit to the funniest movie about 9/11,terrorism and starring an all-puppet cast. Edited:Yeah,I get that the premise kinda narrows it down.
And it’s not even half as graphic and vulgar as Rainforest Shmainforest!
Paid Patreon request it could be then! >XD
Monty Python was a british comedy show back in the 70s and 80s and they made a few movies. The big one was Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Life of Brian is also great
Actually started in the 60s, oh, I just looked, 1969 so barely in the 1960s. I also got into Monty Python animation using a program I wrote back in college, a few years before Matt & Trey (but I didn't do whole stories or lip sync).

Monty Python is what the dude said, it’s an old comedy group from like the 70s

Such a good behind the scenes documentary. You can't help but laugh when they're in the booth doing the voices 😂
Absolute best part of this is the lady talking to the standards office about people shitting in each other's mouths and being sewn together, followed with "alright, happy Easter"
Holy shit xD (literally)
This documentary was crazy! It’s like my Dad always says. Everyone loves hotdogs, but no one wants to see how they’re made!

You gotta watch, “Goin’ down to South Park” and “South Park the 25th anniversary concert”
Monty Python, British sketch comedy team, who occasionally had short animated segment made by member Terry Gilliam with a similar animation style

You should react to The Spirit of Christmas tbh! Its a awesome prototype of what eventually became.
@24:05 hes talking about monty python, a classic old british show that popularized the sort of humor we find today in randomness
Now we gotta watch the Casa Bonita documentary too. Glad you finally reacted to this

Aye, about time you got around to this.

The fact they only missed one submission due to outage is both impressive and insane.
Anne Garefino, and whomever has her job now if she has gone, must have the hardest job in all of entertainment.

My first exposure to South Park was renting season 1, and 2 from Blockbuster in around 1998.
Team America and Baseketball are both great movies from these guys
Team America would be cool but that would probably have to be Patreon only 😂
Did you ever react to their movie baseketball? If not you should it’s one of if not my all time favorite comedy movie
I remember watching your uncensored reactions. They were 🔥
I remember not having to censor them LOL
20:33 sure why not. It could be the final episode you do before we get another season.(which is gonna take a while)

About time! I've been hoping you'd do this for months!
Yooooo! We did it! Been asking for this for a minute! (Over a year)
In my opinion, it would hit very different if it took loner to animate.
