Interesting Ernie. How would you compare the gouge finish with a buffer to a 600 grit CBN wheel?

Did I miss the model number of the second "fluffy" wheel or is it the same as the first,?
No, it is the same as the first. How you cut the rings of stitching controls how resilient it is. Cut back further on the right hand wheel. Here are all the McMaster numbers that can be copied and pasted into the website:
8” Dia Buffing Wheels 4818A13
180 grit Greaseless/Satin Finishing Compound 4795A25
Steel Polishing Compound 4784A11
Wheel Rake 4764A51
Why bother, the burr just rips off when you use, no commercial turner would consider doing this. This makes the edge too brittle.
