not a comp player, but from what i’ve been seeing i have to agree with what you’re saying here. the slowness, the range, the inconsistency with hitting ledges, the amount of weaknesses don’t really make up for the few unique strengths this weapon does have (imo); especially since stamper is right there
I gotta say though, I am glad that this weapon turned out to not be as broken as the initial game play that was previewed made it seem. I can not make it work in the fast-paced environment of S+ anarchy. It's just not versatile enough to take on so many different kinds of weapons in so many different scenarios. All too often I find myself saying "I need a weapon with more options, like Splatana Stamper."
casual here! the more I play this weapon, the more I see how much better Wiper and Stamper are 😭 The swings are too slow and I feel so easily punished when I miss a shot. I really like inkjet that's why I keep playing this tho. I hope they buff the speed of swings while also reducing the paint or smth
If you like the weapon but can't play it because of inconsistency in highest levels of play it sounds just sad .. Maybe it is fine for many to pick weapons based on how strong it is but I am glad that I am not that kind of player, at least not yet. It is nice that there are plenty of strong and fun weapons for everyone in the game though, anyone can pick what they want based on any criteria.
I personally like the weapon, but I do see your points on how it's really slow. I have both of the kits at 4 stars, and throughout playing with them, I've noticed that the decavitator takes more patience than the other splatanas. I think that it isn't as fast as the others because it would be broken if it was at the same speed as stamper.
For me it's nice if the end lag. I can't fathom why they keep doing this to weapons with already slow frame data. It's not like I don't have to spend .5 secs charging before that slash, why am I also held in place for a bit after? They absolutely nueter non shooters for no reason. I get it not wanting projectiles to be broken, but can the be good namco?
I do not like Inkjet, it has so much RNG with Inkjet, as a Inkjet Hater, I like Mint Decavitator, but I like the Color, I wish it has Trizooka and Burst Bombs. I hate Inkjet in a burning passion sense Splatoon 2.

I like decavitator more than splatana or stamper because I don't need to be have ADHD and crack hands to play it to its fullest extent
