I know this is 2 years after you have this comment was made but Iam going to South Africa soon. I am going to Worcester Cape Town, Houts Bay. Should I be worried about crime because Iam terrified
@@franticfrancis9710 Take the usual precautions and you'll be fine. Like any city there are places you shouldn't go alone or at night. Use Uber to get around, especially at night time and be vigilant. Don't advertise your possessions. If you take a wrong turn and find yourself on a quiet street that doesn't feel right, don't get out the map (or worse, your phone), just retrace your steps back to where it was busy. Wherever I go I always take a "dummy wallet" with at least one credit card (that can be instantly cancelled), £20 or so in local currency and photos of my loved ones (ones I can replace). If anyone does try to mug you (I've never had this yet, apart from one attempt to steal my ATM card in London) just hand over the dummy wallet.
Cities for future episodes - Bangkok, Sydney, Auckland, and Pyongyang..would be useful for people to do Doha and Moscow for the upcoming world cups coming up...
@@armenianchik ai its bummer. But yeah our lockdown has just been extended by another 2 weeks and who knows after that. Even if it does end end of april I doubt the airports will open.
Thank you for talking such beautiful things about my hometown Cape Town I'm currently living in Sweden but I will always be a Cape Town boy there is so many people that is trying to explain what Cape Town is about but they can't get to the point but what this video I can proudly say you got all of the points that the world needs to know about Cape Town thank you once again
I love this City. I spent a month there and what an amazing experience. It has gotten so much bad press over the years for it crime but as long as you’re not stupid and don’t go where you’re not supposed to go you can’t go wrong. I never felt unsafe whiles there. I felt more unsafe in places in the US and even some parts of London then what I did there. The food and the scenery is out of this world. And I had met some wonderful people. Quay 4 at the waterfront is a must. Sipping on Cold castle beer and a steak with live music in the background.
As a local tour operator who love my city and know it pretty well, I have to congratulate you on an excellent overview of The Mother City. Job well done. I can vouch for everything in your video narrative.
Came across this vid by accident.....What an honest review of our Beautiful City.... Your research on our City is Spot On and i'm happy to see that OUR Gatsby made it onto the international spotlight.
My favourite travel show comes to my home city! A pleasant surprise!. Thanks Alex for capturing Cape Town in all its forms.. I look forward to your next video. Also love this new format of the show which spends a bit more time exploring and exposing the city similar to what you did in your review of Beirut.
Thanks so much for your feedback. The evolving format isn't too everyone's taste but I'm pleased with the result of this episode, I think it's the right blend.
WOW Its such a beautiful depiction of the city. I grew up not far from La Motte and love having access to the wine farms and be in the buzzing inner city in less than 1 hour or go 3 different directions to go to the beach! The mountains, sea, food, music, wine and the best salt of the earth people! Thank you for doing us justice❤️
I say it once again. The travel videos created by Attaché is 10 of 10 every time. The editing, colors, voice over, the way a country is presented, Alex as a host (!) is a great combo. Always good info thats straight to the point without any bs, stupid effects or bad jokes. Keep it up!! Edit: One thing tho. I wish that you increase the volume of your audio tracks a little bit before exporting. Max volume on UA-cam + my Dell XPS laptop is still quite low imo when listening through the laptop speakers. If you increase the volume I can lower it with the volume controllers myself :) If you fix this... I really cannot see how any other travel channel can compete with you. Impossible. ;)
God knows I love ... love your videos. You are a fabulous guide and these are great videos. So much fun to watch and imagine I was there, even if I may never go I can live vicariously. Thanks #travel #capetown
I'm leaving for South Africa in 46 hours and counting. I cannot absolutely wait to explore Cape town, and since we've rented a car that should be absolutely fantastic!
Great video , Cape Town is magic, i was there in November 18 ,stayed in the city center ..though i didn’t climb up table mountain as i was recommended not to due to the mugging!
Finally someone doing Cape Town justice! I visit my family there as much as possible. I think you missed out the visit to Robben Island. It really cements in your mind the history of the place and the struggle the people went though to get equal rights. Also for food, South Africa has the best meat in the world, get your braai out. Next you should do Leeds, UK and Detroit. If you ever do Detroit, you HAVE to highlight Windsor, ON. It's a short bus and you get to one of the best independent restaurant hubs in all of Canada. Severely underrated.
live in Cape Town and can say everything was spot on! did not expect my favorite travel channel to visit here, feel honored actually. Glad you enjoyed it here especially our gatsbys haha. looking forward to the next destination I live for these videos😁
I enjoy all your videos. Really informative and well filmed and edited! This one in particular... is epic! Cape Town is truly a special and beautiful city! So proud to call it my home town. 😀
Correction on Minibus taxis. They are regulated and a far cheaper option for moving around. I do not recommend them for tourists but they certainly move most of the work force in South Africa and cheapest mode of transport. An Uber trip of R200 would cost R15 in a minibus taxi so if you learn the transport system it can certainly be a very affordable way of moving around.
This is probably my sixth attaché video between yesterday and today. You got me hooked! And please, do a video on the drizzle city (São Paulo) whenever you can!
Thanks Alex Hunter for showcasing a little bit of Cape Malay. I'm from Malaysia and never known about Cape Malay, would love to with SA one day and explore Bo Kaap thanks to your video.
I love these videos, they feel so much more personal than other travel videos. I love that you focus on more hidden gems rather than the obvious tourist sites. Do you plan on making a travel guide for Chicago anytime soon? I'm hoping to go there this summer and would love to see what you guys show off there.
