Our St Petersburg travel guide! Wow, what a place. Our first Russia adventure and we were captivated by the people, the history, and the food.
St Petersburg is a complicated city but it's worth taking the time to explore and understand everything this place has to tell you.
Thanks to our friends at the Corinthia Hotel St Petersburg for helping us bring our St Petersburg Travel Guide to you.

I live in Saint-Pete's more than 9 years now, and it's absolutely one of the best places to visit, especially if this is your first time in Russia. People are friendly, English-speakers are abundant (most of the youth speaks English, to some extent), city is safe, and service is generally at pretty high level. Bunch of good places to eat, drink or just chill with a hookah. Lots and lots of city parks and lakes, and don't forget about all the fountains, museums and galleries. Wild parks on the outskirts are a must see too! Thank you for such a comprehensive city guide, I'll definitely recommend to my friends abroad!
Loved Saint Petersburg.
It was a dream come true.
Never will forget .Amazing !
Fascinating city for sure.
CarlaJoy we too loved St Petersburg Amazing City. Great memories
Всё очень просто...в Питере живут Бог и Я
Great video I really enjoyed it! As a resident of Saint-Petersburg I just want to add a few things.
1. City is perfectly safe much safer than most European capitals nowadays.
2. The information about possibility to get a car just by paying to a random driver is incorrect. For several years now its illegal in Russia to take passengers without a license so it will be pretty hard to find one. Just use Uber or taxi its very cheap. Your average ride in downtown will cost you from 5 to 10$.
3. Best time to visit Saint-Petersburg is late June that is the time of White Nights and Scarlet Sails festival.
4. You dont need a Russian visa if you come on a cruise ship and can stay for up to 3 days in the city. Most Baltic and Scandinavian cruises have Saint-Petersburg on their route.
Do visit our city it is really wonderful!
Все правильно сказал!
Paul V. I am going mid september, how is the weather then? How are the temperatures?
typical weather in the beginning and middle of sep - +14 +18 C. sometimes rainy.
Thank you very much for the information amigo, I'm from Argentina and I will b in your beautiful city on the 13th of June for a few days, your information is very helpful. Good luck with your national football team. LG
have you ever been in ST-Petersburg? I from it, I can share with you all information and ask you about your country for traelling)
Very beautiful city.
Russia looks like a really interesting place to visit, and one that I've never even considered as a legitimate tourist destination until after this video! Great work, as usual - these episodes get better and better. Thanks for once again allowing us to live vicariously through your videos... I personally hope to one day use the information you guys provide in my own travels.
You really should visit, it's quite extraordinary.
You reminded me of V For Vendetta !!
Russia is an amazing and large country with one of the reachest history and St Petersburg is the best place to start exploring Russia! Don't waste your time, plan your next trip to St Petersburg :)
Thank you:) Russia was there before you.
Uncle Dane f
I saw this episode back in 2017 and 4 years later watching it again to refresh before heading to St. Petersburg.
How does this channel only have 57k subscribers!? Every episode is awesome!
Hehe thanks Mik. We don't put out content very often so we don't grow like other channels. BUT, we're firm believers in quality over quantity, and we're happy with 1 subscriber, let alone 57,000.

Питер-любимый мой город!
Привет питерцам из Сибири ,с берега Байкала(Бурятия)!
Много раз бывал в сим прекрасном городе ,ну нравится мне он более,чем Москва...
Просто они разные .
Now i want to visit it...oh wait, i'm living here😄
You live in a wonderful city!
lucky you...
great, I want to trip this beautiful city in this year
I was in St. Petersburg this autumn and it was amazing.
Hot tip though if want to skip visa, if you arrive in a ferry you can stay for 72 hours visa free!
Great tip!
Andreas Hagström it s only for Swedish citizens,as I heard
no it works for everybody
For example - quite cheap cruise ferry "Princess Anastasiya" (Moby SPL company). You can arrive from Helsinki (best choice), Stockholm or Tallinn. Season will starts from 25th of March.
Attaché this will depend on one’s nationality.
Definitely one of my favorite.
You can feel the cultural richness!
The culture/history/art just oozes out of every corner of St Petersburg.
That's truth! Come to St Petersburg to feel this unique combination of Russian and European culture!
Unlike the mass-migrant zones of Paris, Berlin, London, Amsterdam and Stockholm..
Max Werner paris is dead.
I loved St.Petersburg when i visited it in 2017. It was way more beautiful, safer and cleaner than for example all the big cultural cities in Italy (Rome, Florence and Venice) just for comparison.
PS. Also i might add that the "organized crime" came in after the fall of USSR. Organized crime was prevalent during the 1990's to early 2000's.
Probably those organized crime guys laundered their money, moved to West and bought mansions. Hence, you don't see 'em here. :-)
@@ravikantreddy1 most likely. I mean, today in the west there is alot of rich russians with tricky backgrounds making bussiness and moving there, and problems with "Russia mafia" is becoming a thing.
This is one of my favourite cities on planet Earth. Spectacular architecture spanning centuries, a gorgeous canal system, mixed with military grandeur, religious devotion, and modern commerce. You could spend weeks there are not see everything.
So excited for this episode!!! I miss St Petersburg!!!!
It's a fascinating city, for sure.
Russians are amazing considering the forward development they've made after the constant attacks it has endured. I shall be there in October 💞 from New Zealand
so how was it? ))
Did you enjoy it ? I am going there from New Zealand too, in June 2020
@@quintinout And so did you enjoy it? Should've been over a year since you visited)
@@swetaros we had lockdown and the borders were closed :(( I was so disappointed! I will go soon I hope.
This really inspired me to travel to Russia 😊
It's a country I definitely want to explore more of.
welcome, you will enjoy our city, sorry for my bad english)))

,
You will need a lot of time... At least one year just to understand the differences between regions, since Russia is a multinational and multicultural Universe. More than 100 nations, 11 hour bands (than people in Far East Kamchatka return back from work already, people in St.Petersburg just woke up and drink the morning coffee ;-))) ). Some regions so different in local traditions, food and habits. You definitely should visit the 'Golden Ring' of cities (it is very old and authentic Russian cities around Moscow, for example: Yaroslavl and Vladimir, at least. Check here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Ring), Tatarstan (Kazan city), Sochi, Siberia (Novosibirsk city) and Baikal lake (the biggest fresh water lake in the world, 20% of fresh water on the Earth).
St Petersburg has before now never been very high on my list of place to go but now thanks to Alex and Greg plans will need to change as i MUST go and see it!
We had the same impression!
Hey Ross, you will absolutely love this city! Move it higher on your travel list :)
Ross Manson St Petersburg is one of the greatest n most beautiful cities in the world,i ve been travelling a lot n it still stands out of the crowd
I absolutely loved that episode. It's great when travel isn't mixed with politics.
Love your humor, your story telling, the sarcasm, and the research and heart that goes into every episode of Attache! I always look forward to every episode!
Thanks so much, that means a lot to us.
Wow guys. I love how much class you have because you guys show so much respect to every city every culture and their people no matter the politics. This is how everyone should treat everyone who is "different". Your videos are amazing in every way. From camera angles to the approach, information and the messages portrayed.
Wow Attache, your videos are getting better and better. I've been watching you for a year and a half and it's amazing at how fast your team improved/refined your skills. I definitely need to check out St. Petersburg and I never considered it before. Thanks for showing me amazing cities as usual.
It's a pleasure, thanks for watching!
You guys deserve a way bigger following for the content you put out... Every video keeps getting better and better! Attaché is absolutely my favourite travel guide. (other than maybe The Layover)
Thanks Spencer, really appreciate that.
That was very accurate.
Thanks Sergey, that means a lot to me.
Can I just say how much I appreciate you and your videos? You’re so unbiased, and without judgement, and your videos are based on the actual places and the people without governmental affairs and the media. Seriously, thank you for so much helpful insight ❤️
I love that you use local music in these videos!
P.S. Thanks for reminding me of Pinkshinyultrablast.
We work very hard to use local music in our videos, that means a lot to us. We spend as much time researching the music as the cities themselves.
It's much appreciated. It's those details that makes Attaché special to me.
There's another St Petersburg shoegaze band called Blankenberge who sound similar to PinkShinyUltrablast, check them out.
Do you know the track names used in this video?
Before I visit a city, I always check your videos. It helped me big time. Even if I put aside the informative parts, it's really enjoyable to watch your videos. I mean you always try to represent the entirety of a city itself, which is the best part for any viewer. Keep up the good work, guys.
I came to SPB for the first time last summer. It's already now one of my favorite cities to come back to.
Great video. Herring Under Fur Coat made me smile. I was presented a large slice in 1993 by a Russian host. The "vegetables" referenced in the video were primarily beets. Probably some onions in there too. That far north not many veg choices back then. Needless to say my hosts were as wonderful as the dish was not. Beware and have a giant pile of boiled potatoes nearby to soften the blow. Loved seeing the changes since then!
It's one of my favourite meals. I cook it almost every week. I love it. And most Russians love it.
The best travel guide I've seen, and in Russia.
Thanks so much!
Thank you for a positive view of my home city. Tourists are always welcome here.
This was a treat to watch :) as a Petersburg local and a tourist guide, I thank you for the wonderful job you did! We need more positive insights to battle through the prejudice.
really enjoy your videos guys - So concise and helpful. Definately opened my eyes to St Petersburg - Especially from a food point of view. Keep them coming guys!
The food was an eye-opening experience for sure. I really wasn't sure what to expect.
The buildings and architecture appear very ornate from your video. As well, the "Metro" looks very classy. This video opened my eyes to aspects of St. Petersburg. Your video makes me want to visit this city.
One of the best tours. Thanks for sharing. Great! Cant wait to go back to St. Petersburg
One of the best travel vids I have ever seen, No BS. It is informative and entertaining Thank you very much
I’m so thankful for this episode. This is exactly how St.Pete is... so pleased to hear such a positive feedback on my city :)
at 5.49 that eagle in the background is exactly the same one my parents brought with them to america. good video. thx for posting
I've been learning for a long time how wonderful Russia and Russians are. This video is more fabric in that assessment. Thank you for the hard work and excellent presentation. Have a great 2018.
Amazing travel guide! I lived, studied and worked in St.P. for six years. But it was more than 18 years ago. And this guide was very interesting and informative for me, even for me, who is Russian and lived in that city of my student period of life. And I was very surprised how many things are changed during that period of time. But I found, actually, this short guide is very good introduction to that great city. Of course, you need to spend at least one year in St.P. to see and understand 'the soul of the city'. It is so many absolutely unique places to visit! A huge number! You simply will need a lot of time just to reach them around the city.
Another epic video
Thanks!
Fantastic. I was there 50, yes, 50 years ago. Holy Shit!!! The buildings are basically the same, however, the city is transformed!!!!
Watch this video about St. Petersburg Very, very beautiful...
ua-cam.com/video/7TjhRtyuhdk/v-deo.html
Definitely one great episode! The videography and story-telling has evolved from the very first ones you’ve aired. As an avid follower, I am inspired to visit St. Petersburg - which I have never seen in this kind of light before.
Thanks so much. Yeah we tweak and refine the format as we go - we're always learning.
these videos keep getting better and better. Please keep making more awesome travel videos! You are the best on UA-cam
Thanks Roneil, hugely appreciated!
It's always exciting to see a new episode of Attache, followed by a sigh as I add another amazing city to the list of places I need to visit straight after.
Ha, yeah I know the feeling! Our list of places we want to go is getting longer and longer.
I love your video, thanks for sharing it. It was fascinating to learn a little more about St. Petersburg!
Thanks for the upload. St. Petersburg and Moscow have been on my must visit list for some years and it's about time I made it a reality. Your video concentrates a lot on food rather than the city itself but it's interesting and informative.
Thanks, appreciate the feedback.
Herring under fur coat is one of my most favorite dishes/salads of all time. And subbed.
Lol, I love when she is teaching him to drink Vodka. Reminds me of the first time I ever drank it at a wedding. My cousins told me the same thing; inhale and exhale or else it will burn, and drink it as quickly as possible. They also always had an 'after-drink', usually orange juice, to get rid of the taste.
I have been a great fun of your videos, you are incredibly thorough, your videos are actually helpful, I have used your videos to travel to 3 cities and it was great 👌 thank you for the great work.
Next destination St.Pet
Keep them coming... Feel so happy when you upload a video.
That's nice to hear, thank you!
Great city I was there back in 1943 it looks so different now wow !!
The soundtrack for this one is top drawer.
Thanks, we work hard on the music choices for each episode.
Thanks, we work hard on the music choices for each episode.
7:20 Anna is beautiful! 😱😍
Great video & very informative! Thank you guys!
I love Saint Petersburg 😍 amazing place to visit💕 great video!!!
Thank you for your opinion and music on the background!
Great vid! Thanks for the sweet tour and tips.
YES THIS IS THE EPISODE I'VE BEEN WANTING FOR!!! (why it didn't show up in my feed till 3 months later). I miss St.P so much
Yeah that IS weird that you weren't notified.
addicted to this travelling channel ..videos are very crisp & on to the point on how to enter the city..about food..transport..mode of payment...bla...bla..keep up superb work..very informative..kudos
Thanks so much, really appreciate that!
HOLY SHIT, is that Pinkshinyultrablast? I had no idea they were from St. Petersburg! Thank you so much for using local music in your videos.
Never heard of them, but will be buying the album for sure
It's important for us to use local music wherever we can - brings the whole episode to life. We spend hours and hours researching the music for each episode.
I didn't really expect it, but the shoegaze-y, dreamy sound really fits with the city of St. Petersburg.
One of my favorite things about this channel is about how... un-touristy it is? I mean, you're still a tourist, but you seem to go the length to cover local life and stuff that locals would do, rather than the obvious stuff a travel guide would tell you. So keep it up, it goes without saying that I love this channel.
thank you from the bottom of my russian heart for such a good episode about my beloved city

Another amazing video. Have been watching your videos since the Hong Kong one last year! Your travel guide's have influenced a few of my trips (Amsterdam and Berlin for example). Love what you do; your book is on my Christmas list this year! Hope this comment reaches you!
This is amazing !
Eagerly waiting for your next video :)
Thanks so much!
Looks like a very beautiful and very free and open city.
Absolutely lovely video. Cant wait to travel there😍.
Your videos are great! I used your Paris one before I went and it was extremely helpful.
Because of this video, I am definitely going to Russia next summer
I love this city! it's very beautiful here!
Saint Petersburg is my favorite city in the world! Great video!
Best time to visit: end of May - mid-June, September, early October to avoid crowds. November-through April - not recommended because of poor weather and lack of sunshine especially November-December unless you want to experience Russian winter ??
Don't go slowly, otherwise it hurts 🤣😆 Really enjoyed this vlog! Going to Russia in Sept so needing all the tips I can get lol
Great thank you. What a wonderful place.
I just LOVE St. Petersburg, have been here 3 times so far, can't wait to come again, hubby and me are even considering moving here, when retired - only problem: our Russian language skills... :)
Hi: I'm Kevin Hill: I want to thank you guys at Attache (my keyboard will not allow me to put the grav over the `e' - sorry) for, without doubt, the very best travel guides / Vlogs, whatever you want to call them, on the internet: always insightful, concise, accurate and honest, with no flannel or missing the point or going to the wrong places. I have been to St. Petersburg 17 times and I could not have said anything better than you guys did. I continually watch your guides and, as always, will be looking out for the next ones, although, in this insane world we all live in at the moment, I would expect that for the next few weeks or months, your chances of travelling will be somewhat restricted, which is a cause of great regret for all of us with wanderlust. I wish you well with your future, hopefully sooner rather than later, endeavours. Yours sincerely, Kevin Hill from England in the United Kingdom.
A great vid! You are an excellent narrator! Thank you!
Hey mate, awesome video as always! Thanks for the great content I cant wait for the next one! :D
Thanks Cam! Next ep will be towards the end of next month.
Excellent guide video. The voice and the body language; professional and welcoming to the watched like me. Hope to see more of Russia from your amazing intelligence-guiding skills.- from the Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
OMG!!! The music at the second part of the video, its Dolphin, he’s the best)))
You come up everywhere on UA-cam, Alex! Finally got round to watching one of your vids. Very cool. That fried batter thing has made me hungry!
Nice video 👍👌👏, hope so many tourist from USA come here.
Really great video. We'll be there in a month or so. This video got us pumped!
THE QUALITY OF YOUR TRAVEL VIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always 10 of 10
good they are at least 15 min every time and not 3 min with bs content
Thanks! Yeah we definitely believe you can't capture the spirit of a city in 3 mins. 15 mins is a long time for UA-cam but it's a length we're happy with.
You guys have done a great job with this, thanks!
Thank you!
St.Petersburg is a magical city. Home of White Nights by Dostoyevsky! This is THE place I want to see in Europe before any other. But to be honest your video is more of an advertisement of hotels and restaurants then touching the spirit of St. Petersburg. I used to enjoy your videos a lot. This one was a little bit- how do I put this- shallow-ish?? Sorry guys:(
Very good video straight to the point in a native way to enjoy the city (...and what a city!).
I'm from Saint - Petersburg. Nice video and welcome to our wonderful city. Any time.
I truly enjoyed watching this video!!!
Awesome video! Moscow episode could change minds of even more people!
I think this is by far your best work yet Alex. An absolute pleasure to watch. Still waiting on an Auckland episode though! ;)
Wow, thank you! Auckland would be a treat, we'd love to get out there one day.
This brought back memories, I would love to return, maybe one day
Best time to visit: end of May - mid-June, September, early October to avoid crowds. November-through April - not recommended because of poor weather and lack of sunshine especially November-December unless you want to experience Russian winter ??
Very well done, indeed. Thanks a lot - from Northern California:)
that restaurant that u have the fish by Ginza group is one of my favourite restaurant. Great choice!
