Are You Being Served? Theme Music - Full Version (The Grace Bros Mix)

- If Grace Bros had sold vinyl records, then maybe this full (C&T) version of the theme music to Are You Being Served? would have flown off the shelves?
Are You Being Served? was a British sitcom which ran from 1972-1985 in the UK, produced by BBC TV. Starring Frank Thornton, Mollie Sugden, John Inman, Wendy Richard and Nicholas Smith (and many other great British actors from the 70s and 80s), the show follows the misadventures and mishaps of the staff who work selling ladies’ and gentleman’s clothing in a fictional department store called Grace Brothers.
The theme music was written by the show's co-writer David Croft and composer Ronnie Hazlehurst and this remix uses the TV show version (which includes vocals by Stephanie Gathercole as the female lift/elevator announcer) and the 1977 film version, which is instrumental.
I was hoping to include some sound bites, but there is very little footage available online from the TV series, although the clips I have seen reminded me how funny this show is and how brilliant Mollie Sugden (Mrs Slocombe) was. If I can get access to the whole series, then I will upload a second version which will include quotes from the characters.
No copyright infringement intended. This is a tribute remix born out of my love for the show and childhood memories. Copyright belongs to David Croft/Ronnie Hazlehurst/BBC TV.
Absolutely fantastic mix!! This is a legendary show that holds a special place to me. I wrote some of the cast before they passed and thanked them for years of entertainment and they sent back autographs. I still have them and treasure the memories of simpler times when I could watch this show and not have real world type worries. 💗
A certified banger by Grace Bros' resident DJ, Mr Harman-isation
I used to watch this show 30 years ago when I was 4 years old. It was well understood even at that age what mrs slocombes pussy was .I thought this show was so hilarious just in the dialogue without necessarily understanding what they were talking about. But the way everyone ragged on each other was so great. Night court and married with children also great shows of the time.
Set in department store Grace Bros, where the Ladies' intimate apparel and Menswear departments, are compelled to share the same floor.
This British comedy was a cross between nudge-nudge wink-wink postcard humour and music hall cheekiness
Mixing the 70s with 90s downtempo jungle always goes down smooth.
This is amazing! And I am unanimous in that!
singularly unanimous?
@@millieneilson4761 yes it's one of the character's catch phrases. Mrs. Slocombe would always say it :) It's funny because of exactly what you recognized about it lol
I got it, Jennifer! 👌
Carry on, Cut and Thrust. You’ve done very well!
Your talent is cosmically outstanding. I am lost for words and am stuck in wonderment...

TV themes like this don't have to go so hard but my God do they...
That’s excellent Vincey. The cameo by young Mr Grace at the end is the icing the the Grace Brothers cake x
Great Mix! Ronnie Hazlehurst's music always seem to mix well! How about another 70s classic, George and Mildred?
Thanks. It’s on the list 😊
The later version if poss :-)
Brilliant version 🌟🌟🌟🌟
“Mr Humphries, are you free?”
“I’m Free!”
Yes yes G 😂😂😂
You’ve all done very well! Brilliant !
"Young" Mr. Grace at the end. 🤣 Amazing!!
Old Mr Grace doesn’t get about as much.
what a wonderful remix, absolutely adore this!
I love the extra electric piano and vibraphone and a bit of vibraslap thrown in.
That's from the movie theme.
WOW!!!!!!. LOVE THIS
It really does sound like she's saying "Shirts, socks, IPADS, underwear and shoes, going up..."
Ha. Yes, I hear that too!
@@CutThrust It's one of those once you hear it - you can't unhear it again! 😃The lyric is actually "Ties, hats.." but lets' all pretend it saw the future 25 odd years before everyone else did. And it won't detract from another great remix..
@@msimpson7910 Ahhh…thank you for clearing that up 😊
Love it! Such smooth vibes!!
I'm free!!!! LOL
Geez...being a lift-girl in a department store must have been a boring job...Imagine having to repeat that same spiel 200 times a day...🤯
You've obviously escaped that right of passage - don't tell me you don't repeat yourself......unless you live at home with your folks, it's catching
