Very Freaky moment at 6 min 43 seconds with a Harry Potter dementor in the clouds above the power unit.
The cold start of the loco after power unit installation can be seen at:

I haven't words to express my love to this team and this work.
A friend from Tunisia.
Big thanks for your comments from Bonnie Scotland.
That engine is huge . Am going to come & see it in the summer of 2022. Great work. 👍
fantastic video. please keep us posted on developments of the continued restoration of this magnificent machine.
Thanks for your comments.
What really amazed was the difference in height of the loco before and after the engine went in. great video, thank you for sharing. I remember these from when I was young, painted green then changed to blue later on.
Thanks for you comments Jeff.

Interesting video.Judging by the trees it was fairly calm which made things straightforward.
Yes the chap on the ladder looked a bit vulnerable especially if the motor swung his way.
I found it very strange that the workshop did not have bridge crane to move the engine. The engine was placed outdoors with a common crane and then went to the workshop to finish the work. I' never seen this before.
The workshop was constructed over twenty years ago on a tight budget that didn't allow for a very seldom required overhead crane.
Its not too expensive to hire in a crane from time to time.
Thanks for commenting.
Extraño es que se ve claramente el alto del taller, la estructura y ve el gigantesco Motor y pregunta algo así ! Que estructura puede tener una grúa con la capacidad de aguantar ese peso ! No es un motor de una vespa
I enjoyed these clear images of interesting operations of great technical difficulty!
Thanks very much for your kind comment.
Great video. Great looking refurbished engine too. Much thanks for your time and patience. Thanks. Peace
Thanks for your comment Randy.
Good job guys
Respect and support to you all from Chester.
Excellent content and what a day for it ! Beautiful conditions for a faultless installation and perfect light and exposure for the video - congratulations sir - 10/10
Thanks.
Grande profissional muito inteligente 👏👏 parabéns pelo vídeo 👏👏👏
Thanks.
Great camera work and super work by all involved.
Thanks.

fantastic video how he puts the engine to the class locomotive .. very good report 👌
Thanks for your comments.

Very cool to see the difference in ride height of the locomotive before and after the engine was installed. 👍
Rather subtle. Good eye, TTBS. Peace

Watching from the US. Very interesting and delicate operation. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thanks for your comments.
The loco is now fully operational and back on the UK mainline.
Its cold Start didn't go down very well with the environmental people:

Very interesting, thanks.
Very powerful little locos then gronks class 08's ive seen them shift some heavy loads over the years 😎
We used to work some heavy trains with the little 08s out of Imperial Tube works whifflet up to Mossend .
I bet there's as much weight in that engine as whole weight of the chassis and bogies as when the engine is the gap between the bogies upper fram changes rapidly! Nice video of this tractor being given a full bill of health again 😍🤩🥰
Thanks for your comments. The power unit with alternator attached as seen in the video are approx 23 tons.
Gracias
The absolute power of diesel.
Thanks for your comment Mike.
I drove 37403 many times when I was based at Motherwell MPD with British Rail...a good few times in Multi on the Hunterston iron ore trains.
Thanks for your comment.
Your welcome your team at Bo'ness do a wonderful job keeping the old railway alive.
Class 08 are such good locomotives
APPRECIATED
This is what we can say about a heavy machine or heavy weight! Amazing video!
Thanks very much for your kind comment.
Now thats what i call an Engine Crane!
Hello mam
Amazing beautiful job ❤❤❤
Thanks very much for your kind comment Javed.
Hi guys. Happy new year to all at Bo Ness. Do you have any event dates for 2022 yet? Is the Isle of Mull going out on runs? Marc.
No dates yet, keep your eyes on the SRPS web site.
Super footage ! 👍
Thanks very much for your comment.
@@BONESS27001 👍
Beautiful video. The pusher unit captured my interest though. It’s a steam frame and wheel set fitted with diesel electrics. Many were made. 🧐🙂
The pusher unit is a 60 year old ex British Rail Class 08 diesel shunter.
The bottom is based on a steam loco with the top having an English electric diesel power unit powering electric traction motors.
Top end power unit strip down of this unit at;
ua-cam.com/video/AYLjiQ6jNhU/v-deo.html
REALLY??!!I thought when they phased out steam they threw everything to the scrap yard!
great video, who does the re furb of the engine ? its interesting to know, i expect brush traction
SRPS diesel group carried out the full refurbishment.
The biggest turbo’s I ever seen!!
Yes they are quite big and heavy.
Thanks for your comment.
vad är det för häst krafter på denna tåg motor är det femton tusen häst krafter
Amazing video 👍
Thanks for your comment
Now that’s a lot of horsepower
Excellent 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
it would be great to see a Napier Deltic swapped out in the same manner
Good rigging job
Hats off to the Gronk!
nice video
How. Much. Weight. Can. A. Train. Pull. ?
It looks a lot better than its final days in EWS service when it carried green livery!
12:11: What does "Power Unit" mean? Isn't there a stationary engine inside the container?
Solid 4 new engine tunnel with a row carpal meta carpal phealenches.
What was the container used for ? Looked like it had an engine in.
The container houses an operational NBL/MAN power unit once fitted to a British Rail Class 22 locomotive.
A video of this at:
ua-cam.com/video/GlUJ26qNm0A/v-deo.html
Nice BR Mk1 in the shop too!!!
Thanks Paul.
Fascinating. How many tonnes is that, then?
Its just over 23 tons with the alternator attached.
Fuel get and btry capacitor to burner switch installed. With 22 and 28 bones muscles nerve end and muscle skins
god damn that was cool
Thank you very much for your comment.
It was cool to be a part of.
Are these run by volunteers now or are they still in service?
Mostly run by volunteers
Nice video brother
Thanks very much for your comment.
I had no clue the engine was that big!!
Yes, they are huge, something like 4000 hp.
JAI HO TACHNICAL TEAM KI JAI HO..
Why the connecting rods on the axels of the switch engine? Are not all axels powered?
Well spotted. Apparently this is a steam engine frame and wheel set fitted with a diesel-electric unit.
@@MrDorbel Thanks.
Only 2 axles powered but they also give it more pulling power as all axles locked together so one axle cannot slip on its own , the traction motors have double reduction gearing so twice the torque . Amazing what these little thing will pull
@@tiggy2756 Thanks for the info.
Beautiful 🚇🚇🚇🚇🚇
Thank you.
12CVST if I’m not mistaken what is the Cubic Capacity of that engine I wonder
15.4 litres... per cylinder
@@connerlabs cheers mate 184.8 litres wow 😎
@@connerlabs is the16CVST 15.4 litres per cylinder too mate ? If so it would make the class 40s 246.4 litres amazing
@@GWLAD Yeah all of these English Electric engines used the same size of cylinder, they just changed the number of cylinders and turbo/intercooling setup.
@@connerlabs so essentially modular interchangeable parts to a certain degree all this about 40 years before Scania was bragging about it with their engines 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
With glue lateral and shield skin welds with cut heat dried fan batteries.
Now hear me out all that weight crane including is held by 4 skinny steel poles. Out riggers are the real heroes 💥💥💥💥
I've never thought of it that way.
People often forget the real heroes.
Thanks for your comment Michael.
Nice 08 shunter!! I couldn't believe that they are diesel-electric. I would have bet on my granny's eyesight that they were diesel-hydraulic!!!
We like to keep our 60 year old shunter looking good.
Thanks for your comments Paul.
how many hp the engine?
and
how many hp the motor?
Its 1750 hp.
Lifts going great, but the outrigger box on the crane appears to be weak and seems to have a bow in it. It may be the angle of the picture that is throwing off the look.
That's not weak. I've dealt with many cranes over the years, everyone looks just like that crane.
A little disappointed that it's not a Deltic prime mover being lowered in...
How much ton is tht huge engine? 🔥
Its 23 tons with the alternator attached.
Is that a medium speed or high speed diesel engine?
Medium approx 900 rpm.
Any Deltics to share ?
Soon.
Where is this yard located?
Boundary Street Bo'ness Scotland.
Excelente trabalho

Skill full teamwork which country is this
This is Bo'ness in Scotland.
I have put together about 30 of those motors in my time
Why does Americans have shit loads of Mechanical parts and bits of motors and tricks laying about all over the place what the F ! Its like all Americans have Engineering in their DNA?
Awesome vid! The Colas guy has WAY too much faith in that crane though, would be dropping that ladder out of swinging distance for one - and not standing under it ever! Maybe he's a faster runner than I 🤣
As a machine builder and Mechanic I noticed the Riggers stepping on the open valves with their shoes full of dirt.
Point taken Joel.
The loco is running successfully after two years, so it looks like no damage has been caused.
Thanks for commenting Joel.
wow
Thank you.
how much cylinder in it
This power unit has twelve ten inch diameter cylinders in a "V" form.
Thanks for your comment Prit.

What does the engine weigh?
The engine ( power unit ) and attached alternator is approximately 23 tons.
Thanks for your comment.
Wonder if that power pack will fit my Fiesta?
No problem but you might need to remove the front wings.
Thanks for your comment Mark, it made me laugh.

Use watercoolers?
I dont understand your question.
@@BONESS27001 watercoolers after turbos, those "boxes" to cool the compressed air from turbos, instead of intercoolers. See a V12 MAN marine engine and uses watercoolers too.
Very casual hand signals....
those hand signals have been in use for well over 100 years. Very common worldwide.
@@rupe53 times have changed
@@CosgroveNotts .... times may have changed but machines still only go up and down / left and right / in and out. That's why you point in the desired direction and make the hand motion when you want things to move.
Arowed little fingered and thumbed fingers integration. Of 7.0 liters installing. Plus. Moves place needle directs switchers on track rol wheel plies.
I wonder to find this engine "unprotected", at least without valve covers while fixing rusty chains, moving it and people climbing all around...
The loco has been running successfully since then but point taken.

What are the engine specs?
Lol you asking like you gonna make it yourself 😂 dum bass
How much does that engine weigh? Anyone?
That is a power unit. Not an engine.
