This is the saddest cop video I’ve seen. How was he’s not put in psychiatric care after he got out of jail the first time????? 🤬
There's not really anywhere for him to go, the country has a lack of long-term psychiatric care facilities. Even if you have the money for a private facility, openings are severely limited. The psych ward would have only held him for a week or two, at the very most. Then he'd be back on his own with no support system. Jail is not the answer either.

"I don't have kids. My daughter is married. He needs to be a man. And she chose a different dad so, I didn't get married."
This guy is so far gone
I cannot comprehend how any judge or prosecutor could possibly consider him to be competent to stand trial.
he could be saying something like his daughter "disowned" him as a father, and he didn't get to go to his daughters wedding due to that. she probably has closer relationship with her stepfather, assuming she has one with the "she chose a different dad" comment. he dislikes his daughters husband, as he said he needs to "be a man". probably just nonsense, but i mean there could be something he's actually talking about. just disordered thoughts. he's clearly mentally ill and probably can't express his thoughts properly.
Ikr. I rewound that part a couple times to try to understand him.
Get better Brian! We love our vets.
Retired Psychiatrist. From what I saw, I suspect he's an old Bipolar who's hypomanic. Not yet full fledge mania, but close. Very tangential, jumping one nonsensical statement to another. The classic fixation on hygiene, purging, fearful of sleep, extreme paranoia regarding all the neighbors, but then is going to buy up the entire neighborhood. Unable to adapt to any changes in his environment. He has assigned himself the role patrol person staying armed and guarding the neighborhood.
I want to praise the officers. This was probably one of the best, most compassionate interactions I've witnessed. Brian no doubt has a lifelong chronic mental illness. Most likely Bipolar, or Schizoaffective disorder. (Bipolar and Schizophrenia combined. The most severe of all mental illnesses). I suspect it has reached a point where Brian needs to live in a permanent Chronic Mental Illness facility where his basic needs can be provided, shelter, clothing, food and access to personal hygiene as well as medical and mental health treatment. You're not going to cure Brian, but his life and everyone else's can be made a lot more comfortable and safe.
Again: big kudos to the police officers. They were all excellent. This video should be used as a training film.
The rest of the video indicates a decent into dementia. He needs to be in a controlled facility.
I was thinking old man BP too, and I'm NOT a psychiatrist :D, but have long term foster kids that have been DX'd. I've always wondered what they may look like if uncontrolled....

The officers locked up an elderly man who is clearly mentally unwell, not aware of what he is doing one second to the next, and a WAR VETERAN!!
Not to mention, the Tyrants illegally searched his home, by not asking for consent, or obtaining a warrant.
And the old man is the one who called them for help in the first place.

I agree. The way he is continually talking and moving from one subject to another, is just like my mom was before she died from dementia.
It's from all those heavily processed foods. The American public grew up on breakfast cereals, pop tarts, and frozen heat and eat meals. Then, to add to the misery, they charcoal grill their meats. If that ain't bad enough, everyone gets a handgun.

This is where the legal system needs to be putting his name in the system so he cannot purchase anymore guns. This is how we wind up with mass shootings by mentally ill people who are still allowed to purchase weapons.
Might be some psychotic episodes, Schizophrenia, manic issues or a combination of all three. This man needs professional help.
Yeah, bi-polar as well probably. He certainly needs to get a diagnosis and treatment at a hospital.
Possibly, but more likely dementia and the brain injury.
His thought processes are not in any way normal.
The hedgehogs, unkempt sidewalks, moving his wood and the paper on windows are driving him nuts.

Exactly. Too many people think we should all suffer because people like him shouldn’t.
Does everyone have access to firearms? Wow, I wasn't aware of that.
This guy obviously should not have a firearm. However, he is such an extraordinary small example of a larger problem. Guns are not going away, ever. And trying to eliminate any and all dangers without addressing the people and their own behaviors is a foolish endeavor.

Those were some stand up officers. They kept everything at a manageable level, talked in a laid back tone and were very courteous. Props to the cops !!
Depends on which video you were talking abt bc what they did to the old man vet Brian is bogus
These Cops are WONDERFUL! God bless them all! Brian is sick and needs a lot of care..he should never be allowed to own firearms

As one Vet to another, you should take him somewhere to get him some help. He's in bad shape and you police know that.
This is Alzheimer’s ,alcohol, and ptsd mixed. Why do they keep taking him to jail and home. I don’t get it.
And doesn't need to be anywhere near a gun
I hope Brian gets genuine help. Interacting with developmentally handicapped individuals is rough, and I saw a lot of humanity and patience in these officers while dealing with him.
My guess is that he may also have severe “wet brain” from years of drinking!
One of our soldiers that fell through the cracks long ago. Keeping your head straight is as important as taking care of your body.
In the US it's so much easier to walk in to a hospital with a broken arm and get help than walk in with mental health issues and get help. Not to mention how inaccessible preventative care, therapy, is. We really need to improve that.

I work in a psych hospital. It’s closing in August due to corporate bottom line . it’s not uncommon for psych hospitals to close . They (corps) take federal grant money , wait a few years , then closing after not applying the grant money because psych hospitals are not inherently profitable
Wisconsin has two large public secure mental hospitals 🏥. Nothing needs to be reopened. I’m not sure how this guy ended up in jail instead of being committed after the first incident. It could be drugs that is his problem. Once he is sober he may be more higher functioning.
For reference the two hospitals are: Winnebago Mental Health Institute and Mendota Mental Health Institute
Appleton Police - Compassion - Integrity - Courage written on the cruiser. They showed immense compassion when dealing with this man. EDITED - I had only seen the first part when leaving this comment.
Immense compassion? When they coerced him into signing a statement saying he understood his rights. This allowed them to put him in a courtroom where the judge, the prosecutor and the cops all pretended this man was capable of understanding his rights and standing trial. That's not compassion. The word you're looking for is Evil. Their cars should say" faking compassion while kidnapping mentally ill war veterans and creating false documents to ensure the kidnapping last for 45 days.

There is no cure for dementia or the like. He needs 24/7 care. 45 days in jail?? This is what’s wrong with our system! He’s not a criminal, he’s dying. My husband died of dementia. I know what he’s going through. May God bless him. He knows not what he’s doing. 🕊️🙏🏼🕊️

@@bacrey I’m not young, and I know what he’s gone through. That’s why I feel sympathetic. The guy wants to take care of his family but knows he can’t. He’s alone, and the reason he keeps repeating his future goals (I’m gonna buy this neighborhood for my kids, I’m gonna teach my son to shoot) is because people who feel hopeless get an increase of serotonin when they tell other people their goals. It builds self confidence. Every one of his delusions and mental incapacities can 100% be corrected through therapy and medication. But America has failed and continues to fail to take care of their veterans and seniors. Beyond everything, he is a victim.
