Everybody catch the right-side, up-for-down shift on the BSA at 8:40? The way it used to be. In 1959, when I was enamored of British bikes but too young to own one, I used to mentally practice that shift pattern in hopes of one day putting it to use. However, my first real motorcycle, a 1955 Zundapp 600, had the now-standard left shift, as have all my bikes since. Thank you Tino.

The gag when I was in my teens, 1970's, was to get someone used to riding a Japanese motorcycle and get them on a Triumph or BSA.

It's hilarious that they all sound like a rock tumbler.

Interesting. A very slight error at 0:40. Not a copy of the 1929 model which had the generator standing parallel to the front cylinder, but the 1931 model. Except for the early generator drive I can confirm that the D and DL Harleys are very reliable.

So is the BMW R71 the most copied bike?
The Russians built two copies, Dnepr and Ural, the Chinese built the Chang Jian and even Harley Davidson got in on the act with their XA.
Funny thing is the Germans didn't make all that many of them. The army thought the Zündapp to be the much better bike and even went as far as to force BMW to build Zündapps instead.

PMZ-A-750 looks nice, nice thick strong frame and nice forms, the sound is good too. those 2 rusty bolts @ 2:07 look like an eyesore, there are some rubber caps or something like that to put on bolts, that would look alot better, or simply a bit paint on those bolts would make them look nicer. that bike needs overall a new paint. how much does an all functional well preserved PMZ-A-750 cost nowadays ?

The W series of Kawasakis, mainly the 650cc ones, were much improved over the BSA. I worked for a dealer in the late '60s onward and serviced a few that had been sold in prior years. Those engines were bullet proof.

I first had heard that sokol 1000 was a copy. Was inspired to some degree, but a direct copy? Even all dimentions was mm, not in inches. There a lot of differences to any hd and any indian. Fuel consumption is tragical. Especially with sidecar. It's hard to burn so much gasoline per 100km in such a small engine.

To my knowledge it was possible to buy a brand new Nimbus -750 in Denmark, for some years ago.
Some skilled persons got all the drawings, the prints and a lot of tools from Fisker & Nielsen.
Try to research in that J T .

@@johnhenke6475 Some in Denmark do this sort of work.
In Denmark there was a gang war, bikers, and one of the first killings was done with a Madsen machine pistol, it was brand new, made by someone with skills and tools, +30 years after it went out of production!

Today, some 60 years after production ended it’s still possible to get all parts for the Nimbus 750. Maybe not from the same supplyer, but still possible.
It’s estimated that of the roughly 12.000 motorcycles produced in total, around 4-4.500 is still in use.
