- Yes another product review. this time the penn battalion surf casting fishing rod. has been my go to set up for last 5 yrs. I have decided to upgrade, figured I would give my honest review of a great surf casting rod. although upgrading to a better quality rod. Using the Penn Battalion 12' H with a Penn Fathom 2 25NSD reel with 40# braid. I can absolutely launch a 6 oz sinker! Good video.
I have that same set up on my conventional you can literally cast it a country mile. Careful of the fingers it takes off like a lightning bolt 😂😂

Thanks for the video. It appears to have lots of nice features at this price point. I’m just getting into surf fishing and I’m ordering this rod. May I ask what length and peer/lure mode did you have?
I’m looking to order the battalion 2 in 10ft 1-5 oz. Planning on matching with the Spinfisher vi 4500. The idea was to have a setup that’s good for all around.
What’s your opinion of that, or would you recommend going with the 11’ or 12’? If so, what about the feel?

I think that set up is great a bit heavier than i started the one i had was 10’ 3/4-3 but your right you can throw anything with that set up. You ll be pleased with the spin fisher its a workhorse

@@friscoray2 always my channel is 100% about helping and teaching. I Didn’t address the length of the rod. 10’ id fine. I have a10’6” now and love it. I guess the longer the rod the more potential casting distance if matched with appropriate reel
50/50 and 70/30 designate how a two piece rod breaks down. Yes I saw the penn icast vid

Penn Battalion 11’ med heavy… surf.…cast version, bought mine in 2020 and it still looks brand new. All my gear gets a shower and shampoo after each use, especially after using in the salt… there's no white salt residue on my reel seat threads or anywhere on my rods.… Take care of your shit people…!

@@hansserreyes6926 well i don’t know the exact specs but if had a few rods after this one i would consider it a mid weight rod. Not light not heavy
