Thank you for uploading this video. I'm a beginner at lifting weights and I know I'm not strong enough for the free bar yet, but for some reason the Smith machine always intimidated me, this helped a lot!
This is the kind of video still very much needed: a clear and simple explanation as to what the equipment is for, its safety features and a simple guide on how to use it and its not presented by some juiced up walnut bag yelling at you: simple and clear.
Thank you, bar positioning. Lower back tucked and protected on the drop. Footing alignment. I was looking for a good Smith machine squat video. To share with a client. Your's was on point. Thank you. Other people ( videos) are a mess. They have the bar way too high. Their footing was not aligned. You were on point. Thanks again.
This is great... My partner showed me how to do this. Hurt like all hell the next couple days but that's when I learned the importance of pre and post workout stretching. Great squat workout for beginniners.
Pre workout stretching won’t do you any good. It’s best to just use lighter weights to warm up with the movement you want to do. Stretching can’t prevent soreness. If you’re not sore it means your muscles are adapting to the weight and movement level you at presently
I'm watching this in 2024, I've seen a bunch of videos with this lady and she always explains things so well. I've tried to find her on Instagram but couldn't, if anyone knows where I can find her more recent content please reply to my comment and tell me
This is great. I can never keep my posture with a squat very top heavy so naturally I lean forward. I enjoy using the smith machine as it does make squatting easier. :)
I have wanted to try this Machine in my gym for a while but was intimidated, didn’t want to look stupid and wasn’t sure how to really use it. Thank you for that tutorial.
Thanks for this video. I’ve been a little shy to try to go to the “bro” section of the gym to figure out this machine but now I feel confident to try it out 😁 You explained it really well!
First time know how to untwist this. Have been feeling so puzzled about this “big guy” at the gym and after joining for almost a yr, i finally get the gut to just explore a little bit of that!
Wow I feel FINALLY confident enough to use it at the gym!! I've always wanted to squat with weight (more than the 2 5-lb weights I have at home, lol) but I was too shy and scared to come over to the smith machine. Thank you so much!! What an informative video
Keep in mind, the Five stars are based on my needs for this item ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS When I first bought the bike I was going to return it immediately. After trying it out for several days/weeks I came to realize it is actually perfect for WHY I bought it.This is not a workout, the resistance is, eh, it makes a bit of noise, not loud, and it isn’t very stable even with the mat. The mat certainly keeps the bike from sliding but nothing keeps the mat from sliding (if that makes any sense, lol). Mine is place on my hard wood floor. Maybe it would be better with a rug underneath??I sit for long hours for work and wanted something to keep my legs moving. This bike does exactly that! For the price it is amazing, it is compact, easy to use, light weight, keeps track of time, calories etc (not sure how accurate it is) but good little product. I am happy with it.
Awesome video! Short and to the point. This woman is absolutely gorgeous! I recently started using the smith machine to do squats and wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly.
Thanks, I was in the gym for the first time today and I was just awkwardly circling around it, trying to figure out how it works (locks/unlocks). Time to train the glutes from tomorrow! 😅
I needed this. I would much rather use a free barbell but I tried to without any weight and I got scared because it was difficult for me to keep the bar straight on my back! If I loaded it id probably drop it all or fall and embarrass myself. I'm going to use the Smith machine to get more used to form with a barbell
GReat it could also act as an alternative to guillotine neck presses, when the bar is fix on a vertical axis on your traps and weight is heavy enough try to escape getting crushed when you suddenly fail to get back up. 100% recommend for beginners, great way to induce injury due to muscle imbalance and over straining the quadriceps causing tendonitis.
Do people use this machine facing forward (the way she is) or backwards, the other direction? I have been using the smith machine facing the way she has demonstrated in this video. But one day I randomly noticed that the smith machine in my gym has an instruction image which suggests I should be facing the opposite way. I tried it facing the opposite direction and it certainly feels totally different. But the next day I felt shit from joint strain. I’m so confused what’s the safest direction to be facing while using this machine
I had to look this up too because I was also confused. Appears facing out is safer and more body friendly. I’m also planning on putting small plate weights just under my heels to elevate a touch to help with some strain but also obtaining a better range of motion.
My gym only has a smith machine. I'm gonna use it for some heavy calf raises. Not sure whether to go with leg press or this for the rest of my legs though, I guess I'll try them both. Thanks for the video, I had no idea how to use this thing a few seconds ago lol.
I only ever used the smith machine for military presses because I could bring the bar all the way down to my lower chest area and just get a real long range of motion in super strict form.
Good uses of the smith machine; -Australian pull ups -Incline push ups -straight bar dips -L sit pull ups -Front or back lever -Super challenging Handstands?? For me it's an adjustable pull up bar. If i use the squat rack for the same purpose i tend to get some funny stares.
This is the only thing I have at my gym so I guess I have to make it work until my contract is over. Is it really that bad? Or is it better than nothing
Of course it's better than nothing. It's just a running meme that the Smith Machine automatically grows a pussy on anyone who uses it. Ignore the elitists.
@@drewbocop someone with bad knee like my self it great and I still been able to what I'm wanting so I can hit free bar and weights on other things I'm willing to bet you're one of those Macho people who pass judgment on stairs at the gym
@@drewbocop jesus... have you ever seen pcu? You can't say anything these days bc ppl dont know how to either read or interpret english like crystal post.
I use the smith machine when there's no access to free weights. No hotel and resort gyms have large barbells. They have small free weights and smith machines at the most. I use it in this cases and yes, you can get a good workout. For instance I stayed at disneys Polynesian resort and they had a great gym but only small dumb bell weights so I used the smith machine all week. The ones saying don't use it are most likely not working out anyway, but just trolling.
You have it good. Yesterday I went to use the smith machine and people were doing flat bench DB presses in between benching with the smith machine. ...and the flat bench DB presses were being done on the same bench places in the middle of the smith machine.
I just tore my pec muscle using a smith machine not sure if I was using it wrong the ppl @ the gym never showed me any technique I was using 200 lbs tho I've benched more in the past. In hindsight I'd say it puts yoiu in an unatural position the incline caused me to push in an upward position and to the rear any advice would be appreciated. btw I'm a disabled veteran and the VA wont pay for the operation so I'm in limbo right now
I don't know why but I appreciate this lady so much. She taught me so much in less than 2 minutes.

Exactly. I was looking for an explanation on how to use it and I thought I'd have to put with some 10 minutes video.
In 2 minutes my anxiety to learn how to use a smith machine has diminished. Fucking legend.

I was so scared to use this machine since I have just joined a gym but now I know how easy it is. Great video.

Only video that actually tought me how to use it. And didn't just talk for 12 minutes got strigh to the point. Love it
