Yes, I agree. Thank you to whomever continues to post these outstanding videos. The content will never get old because there isn't a better way to perform these exercises. And, I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering how his family is doing. In time, I'd love to see a video of Mom and the boys. God Bless.
thanks for keeping this channel going...new to working out, and didn't discover this channel until after John unfortunately passed...so all these videos are new to me. They've helped me in the gym so much! Grateful i found this channel, and grateful he left behind such a wealth of knowledge..RIP and thank you
Another great video. Thanx for whoever keeps this channel going . I found out about John only a few months before he past so a lot of this content is new to me . keep his memory alive
Just found these videos of John and can’t stop watching!! Probably the best information on weight lifting I’ve ever seen!! Was in shock to find out that he died last year.. RIP John
I recently found this channel and I have gained so much knowledge from this champion! Sorely missed by so many ❤ Thank you for keeping this channel alive.
The most humble bodybuilder i,ve ever seen on the net. I agree with Centurion Strength and Fitness. I,ve never had a chance to meet him, i live in The Netherlands. But i watch his video,s every week. Rest in Peace John.
I started doing these with one foot up on the bench thanks to John and it has put more meat on my lower body than anything else ever in my life. That being said I'm not a fan of doing one limb at a time and esp legs gets old, so I'm going to start doing the first thing he showed, just a regular squat with legs more out in front. He's right, everyone hates the smith machine and I was one of them. But John changed my mind and opened a whole new world of possibilities up to me with this video.
John you were and are an inspiration not only in fitness but in life!! ❤️ I admire your heart and spirit greatly, about to get my first smith machine, can’t wait to use these exercises!
Never considered doing bulgarian split squats in a smith machine. Although he's gone, he is definitely not forgotten. I still learn each time I watch (and rewatch) John's videos.
I’m so glad I found this video because this guy is on point with all the advise he’s giving( may he Rest In Peace) as a woman, I love the smith machine, the very first time I felt my glute muscles during a lunge was on the smith machine. Once I realized that pushing off of the leg in front of me was KEY I feel like the smith machine allowed me to focus on doing the exercise correctly! I can’t understand why the smith machine is disliked! The gym I go to it’s always men trying to rush me off the smith machine. I love lunges on the smith machine because I actually see and feel glute growth since I began really gravitating to the smith machine! His advise is on point!
I miss John. Seeing these videos makes me sad and happy. Sad he is gone, but happy that he still has Granite/Mountain Dog Team going back and continuing to release footage. John was a wealth of knowledge.
Ive been doing those bulgarian split squats on the smith machine for a few weeks now, and my arse is absolutely on fire 😂 they are superb for glute activation. Thank you John, wherever you are.
this was so helpful. I have this and other machines at home so i need google to show me how to use them 😅. This is the first video I saw that stressed this form and showed it so nicely.
Miss you John. Hope your family is hanging in there. I always looked at the smith machine as having the ability to “concentrate” more on the targeted muscles as the machine essentially takes away the stabilization part - which means you can use more energy to focus on your targeted muscles
I’ve been doing one legged squats since my hip is messed up somehow from squatting normally on free weights. No pain at on in my hips and my legs are growing. Gonna do this and lunges with dumbbells and leg extension and leg curls and see how much they grow without squats.
Hello there, I was interested in purchasing from the site, but I see it says Members Only for certain things. Is that portion still being updated posthumously? He was such wealth of information. He is missed.
I wanna start doing Bulgarian Split squats on a Smith (since I always do DB). I squat twice a week (back squat or heels elevated/paused squats one workout, Bulgarians for the other). Is it worth doing Smith Split Squat a main exercise for ham/glute day or nah?
Smith machine is my fave to build legs cause basicly it eliminates the balance problem. Alot of people said "the smith machine is for losers" and now I littarly have to wait everytime cause alot of people are using it to bench -.-.
No shirtless ego nonsense. No filler or fluff. You really were the very best on UA-cam, John.
And you still are.
Agreed!!!
No doubt about it!
He is THE BEST forever.
Missin you John. Thank you for whoever posts these.❤️

Always that smile and happines, really miss u John.
Still entertaining and informing us. Thank you
Your foot placement when squatting in a Smith Machine also depends on if it's one of those angled path machines or the completely vertical ones.
We miss you and thank you everyday ,King
So glad his UA-cam is still active, such a wealth of knowledge 👍🏻👍🏻
One of the best. Down to earth with knowledge like a god. Will be missed for a very long time. RiP 🙏

I've taken so many lessons from John and used them to better my workouts and by that myself.

I still look forward to seeing these vids everyday. By far the best person STILL on UA-cam when it comes to training.

Yeah a BUNCH of us really enjoy the content so THANK YOU!!
Love ya John.
Such a kind spirit.
Great content as always. Nothing the matter with a smith machine. Don't understand the hate people give it.
Ive been doing those bulgarian split squats on the smith machine for a few weeks now, and my arse is absolutely on fire 😂 they are superb for glute activation. Thank you John, wherever you are.
So much excellent information! Miss you John you are the best. I hope this channel will continue with videos

Even in death john you are the best 💞 thank you sir.
Smith machine is great for quads with feet in front hits the thighs great. Can drop set rest pause and take to failure. Can concentrate on form more
Johns the best - a man of high character.
Watching these videos, it's hard to believe that he's gone. May he rest in peace
I do meadows rows every couple back workouts and I always will.
Lol ! From the title picture I thought he was going to squat with the bar resting on his legs. Yeah, that would of been pretty cool.
Straight forward brilliant advice
John is surly missed. These videos keep his legacy alive.
I think the smith machine is great for close grip bench press, behind neck shoulder press, and hack squat style squats.
Great video tomorrow is leg day. Planet fitness all they have is smith machines
Yep, and John could find a way to get a great work out in a gym like that too. A true gentleman. ❤️
Absolute legend. ❤
Love you John

Me too smith machine depend on people who use. Having flexibility, smith machine is little hard than usual considering tension power

Missing John's sheer enjoyment of training and passing on tips.

So that last "stiff legged" DL is an RDL, no?
Goat coach
RIP Moutaindog thanks to John's family and team for keeping his spirit alive and his presence with us here on youtube.
another trainer said you have to be 6 inches from the bar and you're saying to keep the bar close to the front of your legs - thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forever goated
It is funny seeing Smith machine and no joke in the same title
