Many seem to can't or won't do a bit of laundry when traveling, for underwear I work with wear one, wash one, dry one...only take three. Maps, Michelin Maps do fantastic ones showing "scenic" roads that are 99% of the time great for what we do.
Perhaps the best advice is prepare yourself with knowledge and experience and be aware of the environment you’re heading into. Have the right mindset and you will be packing the most valuable piece of kit…yourself! Be present in the moment, on a recent trip to Venice I saw so many people experiencing their holiday through the screen of a smartphone or the lens of a camera or selfie stick. Stay safe and have a great trip Nathan and everyone who’s going!

You've just made my mind up for me. I'm going on my own big adventure later this year. UK to Capetown for me. It's my first big adventure - I've been round Europe a couple of times and winged it day to day. Just planning my next destination the evening before. However, this time I've been getting myself in a bit of a tizz trying to plan too far ahead. Now, I think I'm going to just plan a day or two in advance. I'll bump into other people doing a similar route along the way. Some going south and some going north, and we can exchange experiences and local knowledge. The only problem is - in the UK, at least - is getting hold of paper maps for most of the countries on the 'West Coast Route' which I'll be taking. So, I'm hoping you can just get one for each country as you travel south. Love your new shirt. Thought you were off to Hawaii
Forget the maps, just buy a reliable compass. Follow the rough direction you want to head in and have an adventure. If you have a mobile phone with GPS or just a RTW GPS, like a Garmin, you can always find out where you are and how to get to your destination.
Have fun and travel well... do you pack your batteries for camera etc in your carry-on luggage or hold luggage? Rules on that one have changed from time to time.. I look forward to seeing a video (or two) when you come back. Les
One point on prescription medicines. Obviously take enough for the trip and extra in case you have to stay longer. Most important is to take a doctors prescription copy with you so you can show that they are prescribed to you as they may not be legal in other countries. Have a lovely trip but that shirt????????????
I always tour with three pairs of silk boxers. Wear one, wash one and one for a spare if you have problems drying. Ultra light, ultra compact, totally natural,but gonna cost you £100 these days

As for first aid, I throughly recommend the Biker Down Course, good basic info and gives you the confidence to do something if the worst happens

Take a tube of travel hand wash for clothes. Really cuts down on how many clothes you need to take.

My 5 cents worth, buy clothes in the US it is much cheaper, and if you have luggage space, trow it away, you only do this once in your lifetime!!!
