As a mother and former midwife, I can tell you that tasting breastmilk is far more common than not tasting it when a mom is nursing. And of course Susan had tasted it, she "sleeps" with Carol! It comes with the territory with a nursing mom. I _love_ how _Friends_ handled this issue! It was funny and perfectly done.
As babys we all got btrast milk....Jesus...you americans are crazy...its not common its normal...
I’ve tried my sisters breast milk 🥛 obviously from a cup and I absolutely hated it. It’s semi sweet and tangy..just a weird aftertaste. Like it’s for babies and it should stay for babies only haha.
Both my step children tried it - they were young and they were curious, and their baby sister was drinking it all the time. There was absolutely nothing gross or weird about it. They were asking questions about how it felt, how it worked and what it tasted like, then the eldest asked me if they were allowed to try it, so we all did.
At the time I thought nothing of it, but as years have passed I've realised others do think it's weird!! I just told the kids to be clear, if telling anyone, that the milk was expressed and not from the source 😂😂

I know!!!!!! Oscar is such a hard shipper for Ross and Rachel, and he is so frustrated already with their incredibly complicated journey, it makes me laugh so hard and love him even more❤💘💘💘💘💘❤❤❤❤. I am pretty sure I gave up on them after the first two times the show flipped the situation on its head about them. But he seems so much in love with them, it is so refreshing to see. I love it❤

Okay, I'm a parent of three (now adult) children. The whole breast milk on the wrist to check the temperature is completely normal, and licking it from the wrist afterwards is mundane. (If the taste is off, maybe it has soured from improper storage and would upset the baby's tummy.) Not really sure why everyone is so freaked out by this. And Susan having tasted directly from the source? You think Ross wouldn't have done the same if he and Carol were still a couple? These characters are in their later 20s. This should not be "weird".
Fun fact: The Q-tip line, which is Matthew Perry's favourite Chandler line, was improvised.
Also, Lauren Tom who played Julie, pitched the joke where Rachel says "Welcome to our country!" slowly and loudly, and Julie replies "Thank you, I'm from New York!" This was based on Tom's own experience where people would approach her and react in a similar manner, believing she was a Chinese immigrant.
In both episodes, notice the 'reserved' sign at the table where they always sit at Central Perk? It's the first time but not the last time it is seen. People have been wondering how the couch was always conveniently available for them and someone noticed the sign in various scenes throughout the series.
If you don't know, the reason Phoebe tasted the breast milk is because people usually do that to make sure it isn't too hot for the baby. And I'm not saying you think that but I do find it hilarious how people have such a problem with drinking human milk but have no problem with drinking milk meant for calves. Or breastfeeding in general for that matter.
Lastly, I couldn't tell if you realised that Rachel purposely lied to Phoebe about who Andie MacDowell is to sabotage Julie.
OMG! Milk from a cow and milk from a human, big different. And you don`t need to drink the breast milk to know the temperature. It is enough to feel the milk on the underside of the wrist.And when it comes to feeding an infant breast milk in public, people have to accept that not everyone likes having it shoved in their face.

@@rockon4853 To be fair, while breast feeding is natural (of course), not everyone wants to watch. In our culture, women's bare breasts are not supposed to be exposed in public. It's not too much to ask for nursing mothers to think about this before taking a nursing baby out in public.
People drink cow milk it is true but they also eat cow meat so... hope they treat humans diffirently. People don't allow nudity in public. Stupid but it is the society most of us live in. BTW is there a problem just using a bottle in public?

Nothing wrong with breast milk at all. It's funny how people freak out when they see others tasting milk from our own species but can gather in droves and watch people drinking milk from other animals without a problem. That whole cowboy scene with Joey has always been funny, especially Chandler's "Miss Kitty" line.

Personally I don't think it's weird for people to feel uncomfortable encountering a mother nursing her baby in public. Yes, of course breast feeding is natural; however, there are other natural acts that most people wouldn't want to see in public, such as: sexual intercourse, urinating, vomiting, nudity, bathing, etc.

@@danawinsor1380 Well, I was not talking about breast feeding. I was just addressing the idea of someone taking a taste sample from a baby's bottle. Especially if you think it got ruined in the warming process. But I agree there is a time and place for everything and most being in your own home. But at the same time if a baby is in dire need to feed while you are out & about, what can you do? The best being, to find a place out of the public eye to feed your baby. Nudity...well, to quote Rhea Parkinon from the old BBC comedy Butterflies "Nudity shocks me only when it's my own." LOL. But that's a whole other topic.
The writing in season 2 was generally very good. It’s definitely among the best seasons. Great to re-experience this show with you. Thanks for sharing with us!
I actually find Susan to be very appealing, more so than Carol, but then again, I tend to develop attraction toward the unavailable. For instance, I crushed on Elliot Page for years before I knew.

Idk when people became this prude and narrow minded about this. Tasting breastmilk is normal and happens in many cultures. It was actually celebrated in many cultures in the history, and even now in some places. It doesn't need to be made weird or thought of as sexual (although many people do it that way too and it's their choice. Let's not kink shame). Anyaway, it's so common and natural, let's not make a big deal out of it. Enjoyed the reaction as always
As we are not kink shaming let's also not shame people for having normal reactions to gross tasting of breastmilk.

Phoebe wasn’t in the home when she invited Paolo. And it’s not like Paolo touched her (he turned around naked). Unlike some other character did inappropriately in a message room, but I am not sure if this series has got there yet…

Oaky it blew my mind when I stared watching the old,...I mean old series of the "Facts of Life" when I saw the "Julie" actress on it. Lauren Tom - I knew it was her right way although it was what 13 years earlier I knew it, also that was her first acting job....Facts of Life.

Rachel didn't love/like Ross when she didn't know that Ross loves her. She immediately changed (running after him to the airport, etc.) when she knew.
I really didn't understand that in this show.
There was a deleted scene from season 1 where the girls were taking about the boys and Phoebe brought up how she thought Ross was sexy and Rachel agreed and said he can be smooth, which makes it make a bit more sense

sadly i think it really does freak people out. there's a lot of people who are very disgusted by very natural things womens bodies can do. i knew an instance where a teacher was all up in arms about "girls having their periods at school" and saying it was gross and asking "why they can't just hold it" people get weird about stuff, i don't really understand why.

I disagree they’re being immature. 3 times in my life I’ve had a woman pop a boob out next to me and it’s the most natural thing in the world. Men move away purely if they did what Chandler did and caught a glimpse. Which is exactly what happens every time because, quite rightly, it just happens. You feel awful. And how can you apologise without looking someone in the eye. Fair enough it could be handled better but it’s out of respect we feel guilty. Nothing more.
