- The Halo 3 Pimps At Sea Alpha is not only the earliest version of Halo 3 out there but also the most talked about for a very long time. Now it's finally been released! Let's see what the build is like!

Make sure you're on the latest version of Xenua and you'll also need to go to your "xenia-canary-config.toml" file. Open it in notepad and find where "mount_cache" is and change it to "true" and then save your changes.
What If Johnson replaced the rookie & even Noble 6 long enough before the events of Truth finding the Sierra base or The Rat's Nest of Halo 3? Too bad Johnson couldn't be a main character in his own Halo game. I am sure, someone might be working on it as a mod..🤔⁉️

"The Holy Grail" of Pre-Release builds for me would be seeing what Halo Infinite would be like if they were forced to launch in 2020 lol
I've always wondered what would have happened if people didn't (rightfully) mock the graphics of Infinite after that first gameplay demo. How much of a disaster would it have been?
@@Honre123 it would’ve probably been the worse release in history, even worse than Cyberpunk. Considering the game has been out a year and some change and still is missing a lot of vital content just goes to show how much of an unfinished hunk of shit the game would’ve been if it released on time:

Interestingly the cut rocket launcher kinda resembles some of the low level rocket launchers from Destiny 1. If I had to guess, it was more than likely the inspiration for those models.
It looks like the original cut SPNKR design from the original Halo CE, so it probably stems back as far as that. The SPNKR skin for the Gjallarhorn in Destiny 2 is directly designed after that which is similar ot them all
I was about to say, that old design actually influenced the aesthetic of Destiny's launchers.
Really cool thing that I wouldn't have realized if I wasn't on a "halo concept build" binge. Combat Evolved almost had a machete!

Oh my god that Rocket Launcher model is a new link in a long chain. It seems very reminiscent of the SPNKr Immolator design from pre-release builds of Halo CE, which was obviously scrapped before release. That version of it had a laser pointer attachment and potentially could have tracked vehicles. If that's the case then they most likely had thought about reviving the concept from CE much like they did with the flamethrower, but ended up redesigning it into the rocket pod in the final game. Bungie did eventually bring back the design for a Gjallarhorn ornament in Destiny 2 though.
Yeah I was about to say, it reminds me of the pre Halo:CE footage. That's so cool.

The launcher resembles the scrapped "G4-DU2H" launcher that showed up in Halo 3 concept art.
Both the Spartan and Elite models are from Halo 2 it's harder to see on the Gold you picked for the character but the Spartan model is indeed from Halo 2 you can tell by the lower resolution textures.
The spartan is halo 3 except the first person hands. It's using the older beta textures that used a bit of a different shading method as well.
@@ShinyChroma no it's not! The Beta textures had camo patterns these do not they're the Halo 2 models through and through you can't easily tell because of the gold colour but in gray you can more clearly see it's the halo 2 model
The face behind the helmet was used in a later Halo 3 build though. If the model here is the same as that one, wouldn't that mean it is a Halo 3 model?
The first person hands are definitely the H2 ones as the back of the hand piece has the five indents instead of a triangle with three indents.
@@Ratich it's the halo 3 third-person model. you can see the halo 3 gloves and detail in the chest piece that is modeled geometry instead of a texture.
the viewmodels are halo 2 animations for most of them so they use halo 2 gloves, but in third person it's the halo 3 model, but with alpha shaders.
halo 3 alpha had a very aggressive normal map and bloom postprocess effect.
Damn I miss Bungie. 💙 I wanna say too man. I get such a Meloncholy feeling seeing stuff like this. Like, I can't believe we'll never be able to go back to these days.

I'd be really eager to see if any of the multiplayer map Easter eggs are still present in this build.
Honestly i could of seen leaning being a good way to counter/attack campers, although due to the leaning in this build being incomplete and scrapped we really dont know how good it could of been or if it would of been horrible/no one using it.
A view of the campaign if there are any difference between the pimp version and final version. Hell. There could be a lot to data mine from it. I'm curious to see what vehicles were being worked on and scrapped before release that could be in the code

Okay that's cool that most of the Halo 2 assets are in Halo 3 at least originally but what is extremely cool is the Halo 2 elites were originally in Halo 3 so I wonder if the other two brutes were also originally and Halo 3 or if Bungie ever got to that part in the campaign

Hey is it possible to access the “Warthog Inc” map? I know it’s in this build but it doesn’t show in the menus for some reason. Maybe it’s still in the game files?
It is not in this build. There are only 4 map files

@@ButteredToast81 as far as I'm aware none of the leaked builds have included it, unless there's some recoverable data in a tag test version.
Maps like Warthog Inc appear in the debug menu and such but aren't always included in the files. Trying to load them simply crashes the game, talking from experience here of trying to load multiplayer maps on alpha builds of Halo 4 on my devkit. You've gotta be sure to check the game folder prior to playing to know what you should and shouldn't try to load or you'll just get a red error screen.
The debug menu does not scan the game files for maps, thats inefficient, its simply based off a text file, most buttons still work, others eventually become deprecated as things change in development. Like trying to spawn the guardian ai in Halo 3 ODSTs mod tools. The button is there, but nothing happens

Leaning in Halo looks so cursed. People complained sprinting ruined Halo, I can’t imagine what cover mechanics would have done to the gameplay.

its only moving the first person viewmodels, it was a proof of concept so doesnt show up in third person

I remember seeing those screenshots of the alpha back in the day before any gameplay was shown. People doubted the authenticity but i had a gut feeling I would see the truth in the future in the far far future. I was probably 12 at the time and now im 27. I have the exact screenshot I remember seeing back in the day right next to this video and its 100% the same thing. absolutely wild and cool to see this. I cannot believe im seeing this right now.

The rocket launcher might be the SPKR or whatever it’s called from Halo CE and the animation is also similar to the Ghorn rocket from Destiny.
from what I understand, that cut rocket launcher is in fact the same one as seen in "The Art of Halo 3" art book, and is called the "G4H-Dush"
According to the Digsite folks, it's what eventually evolved into the Missile Pod.

I bet the campaign isn’t playable. I’m sure it’s just all place holder for how “it would have looked” similar to the halo 2 alpha and beta. The option is there, but once clicked it’ll say something like “not yet implemented”

Wonder if anyone can help. I put the pimps at sea game files onto my HDD, but when I go to launch the xex I get the unreadable disk error.
Stuff like "pimps at sea" really show what bungie was. a bunch of lowlifes who managed to somehow make one of the world's most famous and best selling game franchises! 🤣

I can't run this using Xenia. I just downloaded Xenia and have done no configuring with it. I've only set mount_cache to true and used the linked XEX patch. It just crashes immediately.
Fixed by using Canary instead.

Can you upload the mp maps to the steam workshop? Not sure how much effort it'll take to do that but it would be cool to play

Honestly, (is this a really hot take??) I very much feel, in terms of story(playable alien as one included example) H2 is vastly superior. I never cared that much for three's story and felt the only redeeming(albeit great) factors were the last few campaign levels
halo 3's graphics looked really good when the game first came out. I had it launch day. That being said, Halo 2 did have a better campaign, and Halo 3 had really competitive multiplayer for better or for worse.

Yo was it easy to mod halo on rgh? I have an rgh, modding cod and other games is super easy. But I’ve noticed for halo games there’s so many processes like modifying xex, replacing or adding a map into a folder along with modifying the single player xex files to even acsess them from the in game menu. Other games is usually just adding a plugin to dash launch or adding a couple files to the root directory of certain games, some with TU updates (gta)

Lag or fps drop? I remember trying to flip a pelican with 2 scarab guns and each time my Xbox shut down as not to over hear. Never cleaned it but that never happened even during long play.
The campaign servers they use are different than the multiplayer ones. They really should clean them up
