I bought the tulip and split design cup out of ceramic (not porcelain) from a local ceramic studio near my house in Java(cost for both: less than 10USD). With two other friends we tasted the same coffee* from 6 different vessels: the aforementioned ceramic tulip and split, a wine glass, enamel cup, stainless tumbler, and a porcelain tea cup. I still have the notes from this little experiment. Like you said, how they release the aroma is one of the most defining factors of taste perception. The other ones are weight, how they look visually and how good they can keep heat.
I grew up not far from the Figgjo factory, and they are known for making durable and solid tableware, and they make a lot of stuff for professional use, including the Oslo series. I would not hesitate for a moment putting the cups in the dishwasher.
It's certainly stood the test of time for me! I suppose I haven't always bought such nice tableware which made me hesitant, but lately I've used it every day in the dishwasher and my worries were for not! Love these cups !
Thank you so much for the outstanding presentation. I plan to order the split cup soon. All of your videos are beautifully constructed and I enjoy them very much.
Yes it is! He did work with a designer on it though, as well as the manufacturer named Figgjo from Norway. I've also seen them in one or two shops in Vancouver, pretty awesome how far his reach is!
Thanks for the review! Just order the whole series of cups (2 of each) and the pot/lid directly from Figgjo, as they offer 25% off this January if you order for NOK 1000,- (Norwegian Krona) . Looking forward to test them with different coffees.
Yes they would! I believe even Tim Wendelboe uses them for espresso, especially the tulip cup which allows for a better chance to smell the aroma. They are pretty small, holding probably.. a cup. Or a little more
Which cup would you use? Let me know in the comments :)

I have seen the split cup in some coffee shops. Is this an original design by Tim?

The third cup seems cool but how wide it comes out I see myself spilling that shit all over my face
Haha, fair enough. Thanks for checking out the video man!
