Man, I have a lot things to do right now, but I couldn't resist clicking on this video, then I couldn't stop watching it. Even if I didn't like this bass, I love the video, you make you so high quality reviews and bass videos! I think I'm becoming a fan of your channel.
@TheBassWizard I have a Schecter Silver Mountain C5, which is essentially this bass but a couple different features. What strings do you buy? I can't get anyone to give me a straight answer of what strings to buy, so I can actually string thru the body, versus the bridge. Thanks!
02:37 The knobs have holes in them that you can feel with the fingers. I have another Schecter fiver model so I am accustomed to that type of knobs, I don't know if they are convenient for other people
I'm interested in this bass because I love my hellraiser guitar, but hearing now how about the narrow spacing I'm even more interested. I typically play with a pick and it sounds like this bass is made largely with that style in mind, allowing for easier playing of octaves or power chords. Seems like it's built for fast runs too. Definitely my kind of bass. I'll have to try one out one day.
Thank you so much for this, finally what I've been looking for. I have been wanting to get the elite 4 2019 version but there is such limited information out there about these schecters. Thanks!
Well damn. Normally i have Schecter brand loyalty with my guitars. But when I got a bass, I got a Fender Active Jazz 5. Kinda wishing I saw this before I ordered the Jazz. This would have been perfect. Hopefully the Jazz bass can make me happy enough to not mind that it's not a Schecter.
Watching other people play and talk about how they play has made me realize that I have a kind of unique playing stye. Most people slap closer to the neck, while I tend so be in between the pickups. I started on a precision bass, so it’s really odd to me to see someone playing closer to the bridge if they aren’t using a pick, which is where I play with a pick. I almost never play with just the bridge pickup, and when I do, it has to be a humbucker with a little bit of treble rolled off and bass turned up. For the geeks like myself, my currently most played bass is a cheap Spector that I put an EMG 35TW in the bridge position and a 34P4 in the neck, with a BTS System for EQ. For hardware I put a Hipshot Kickass bridge with stainless steel saddle inserts, Grover 144BC tuners, a 41mm Black TUSQ nut, and Dunlop Dual Design straplocks on it. It sounds absolutely amazing and it’s the punchiest bass I’ve ever laid my hands on.
Came in for the review, stay for the performance. Man it's a treat to watching your videos! P.S. Buy the way, i think if you use 3 thin label, tape the 0 and 10 on the body, then use the last label tape it on the 0 of the knob, then it should help with the volume adjustment. Hope that can help you.
Ah ha. You know I was wondering why despite getting super low action these were harder to pluck when doing slap stuff. That golden area where you pluck on a Jazz bass is being covered by an extra two inches of fretboard because there are 24 frets instead of 20.
This is better than the Schecter Jazz 5 string you demo'd...better fuller tone especially with the coil tap which sounds better than the 5 string Schecter Jazz thing..neat binding, body colour/finish & inlays...having an EMG active eq & pickups should make it very versatile allowing you to use for most genres of music .....is the nut the same width as the other 5 string Schecter ? i would like another mm in between the strings at the nut personally, 4mm wider would be better for me but a very neat bass with great tones....
I think at that point it’s a matter of preference. The Stilettos, Hellraisers, Elites, etc are definitely more of Schecter’s higher end basses. Me personally I prefer the Stiletto Studio basses.
considering to get a Hellraiser or even a Apocalypse C5, to start my first tour, and I wonder whether the neck is solid and stable. I don't wish I have to adjust the neck too often. could you provide any experiences?
Hy - big new fan here :-) Do you think the 4 string would sound great with thicker strings? For CGCF, obviously for deep shit metal stuff. Your opinion would be great!
For me...not really. Mostly the action for B and E was basically 0 (G and D were perfect though), but since most music stores could care less about basses, I've never gotten a new bass online that I didn't have to do some sort of setup for. Fortunately it's usually just the action, which is pretty easy to correct.
It's 'couldn't care less', what you're saying is they do care at least a bit, which is clearly not your intention. Why so many Americans get that wrong is confusing.
@@Lordoftheswollen That doesn't matter. The phrase has the same overall meaning regardless of where I'm from. If you say you could care less then you do in fact care to some degree, that's just basic English language, regardless of which English speaking nation you happen to be from.
This video was a long time ago, so I cant remember exactly. It might be that the 4 string version is 17mm and the 5 string is 16mm? The spacing on the 5 string is definitely very narrow
True, neck thru basses aren't made for touring, unless you have a lot of money or keep them constantly safe, just grab a cheaper bass for Christ's sake.
Doesn't work when you're playing on big stages where you're moving around and you're not always in front of your tuner. I need control on the instrument itself.
Great review i really like the option to switch between humbucker and single coil and you probably already know this but if you like metal and slap you should listen to KoRn and Mudvayne sometime
Ha !! "Very metall". I'm 63 at age n' wanted to learn bass, so when my eyes fall on this beautiful guitarr, I just have to have it. Saw myself gathering some country stile folks around. Well, I do still have this image of me n' this new friend of mine as a mature outlook stile. My schecter is deep red n' I'm happy to hear tha it seems to be a technical accpepted instrument - not just cool luckin' (Just fun saying )))
Not the best bass for slapping, I hear that about a lot of basses who is not jazz or a Stingray bass. Slapping is just experimental that's how Larry Graham came up with that technique by slapping on a bass not made for slapping most basses are made for fingerstyle.

btw i really like your channel, great stuff :)
looks good, but you look better ;)

"It's not a bass that you'd buy to slap" ...proceeds to slap the bass in the most tasteful way
weirdo
Came for the thumbnail stayed for the tunes. Great video man keep it up

Thank you! I have a Studio 5, and always looking for information about Shecter basses!
is there any neck dive? if u have it on ur lap does it has tendencies to fall on its head?

I have the 4 string version in crimson. Wished I had the 5 string! Still love it and have the 6 string hellraiser guitar too!😎🎸

pls how this bass is balanced ? is there any neck dive?
Is this bass worth the extra$$ compared to the stiletto extreme 5?
sound excellent, by the way could you try reviewing a Schecter Omen Extreme-4
That slide you did was totally sick damn.
Nice demo!
I'm trying to figure out what the difference from this and the Damien is? Other than price

They should make one with just the neck pickup. That's where I think it sounds the best. :)
Are the hellraisers really that much better than the omens or stilettos?
I think at that point it’s a matter of preference. The Stilettos, Hellraisers, Elites, etc are definitely more of Schecter’s higher end basses. Me personally I prefer the Stiletto Studio basses.
Good honest review!
What was the song you played during the bass arrangement?
An absolute classic that you should have recognized. Hint: It's by The Police

Nice review, could you try reviewing a precision/p-style bass?
Why do you need a center stopper on the volume knob? Who needs volume in the middle?
So that you know what half volume is
love the look of this bass but to be honest couldn't tell the difference between the 3 band EQs.
Nice review, can you do a review on Marcus miller V7 ?
Hy - big new fan here :-) Do you think the 4 string would sound great with thicker strings? For CGCF, obviously for deep shit metal stuff. Your opinion would be great!
Out of the box, are the frets and action and tuners of this bass good? In other words, is the quality control any good?
For me...not really. @teresaravenshaw5477 Where in his statement did he say he's American?
Great video. Thanks
Are you sure it's 17mm spacing? Schecter told me 16mm spacing when I emailed them before I saw this video...
This video was a long time ago, so I cant remember exactly. It might be that the 4 string version is 17mm and the 5 string is 16mm? The spacing on the 5 string is definitely very narrow
How much does this bass weigh?
one question. DOES IT DJENT LIKE MESHUGGAH????????????????????????????????????????????????
Nice review .. but could you try reviewing Cort b5 thanks .. Sir ! I love your videos ..
I like alot the bridge
My problem with neck thru basses is that if you mess them up, your done for lol. Its just my paranoia though xD
True, neck thru basses aren't made for touring, unless you have a lot of money or keep them constantly safe, just grab a cheaper bass for Christ's sake.
How do you make that nice b-r-i-i-i-ng on the g string at the end of something? Is that just popping the string??
Sounds like he did a chime, basically slightly push down on the string but don't make contact with fretboard, and pluck the string
Review on BTB746-NTL 6 string?
A great bass for the price.
I have 2 Extreme 4's.. I love them...
Nice sounds good
When I’m playing and I need to mute my bass, I just turn on my polytune pedal. Easier than fiddling with knobs and accidentally adjusting your eq
Doesn't work when you're playing on big stages where you're moving around and you're not always in front of your tuner. I need control on the instrument itself.
The Bass Wizard Ah yes. That is the kicker
Personally, I'd add a 2 way toggle switch to cut the sound.
barclay bass YUP! :)

That is a awesome bass
that's a pretty spec'ed out bass for 1K. great for any bass player really
Wow!
this sound is really powerfull
No offense bro, your playing is flawless and beautiful, but that intro felt like you were holding back so that you wouldn't wake up the neighbors.
Sounds good. But so metal \m/
Slap on a metal bass....lol..Awesome!!
a metal bass is it made of metal? so clueless

it's not really that experimental anymore
My bass BEST !
13:13 BET
Weight, please. It's important!
The bridge is pretty dirty hahahaha
Bro ain't nobody playing up there WTF.
I do... I have the red version of this and also use the colored DR strings. Super versatile bass.
@@thumbthump Can it be used for playing funk?
Get some cheap-ass screwdrivers. They should be in the kit, that you take to shows.
i really don't dig the chrome hardware
i cannot justify the purchase $800 +
because you're poor
A bass doesn’t need 24 frets:) nor 5 strings for that matter;)
It wasn't made for you. Ugh.
then you are not very good and a basic player with no range
Харлей бентон бас лучше и стоит в сто раз дешевле!
