    Dave definitely has a self-inflated idea of his own importance and he got exactly what his narcissistic butt deserved! Jenny is a saint for staying and protecting Alex. Being “real” parents sometimes has nothing to do with being blood related! Kudos to Jenny for staying and being a real parent to Alex, and kudos to Alex for recognizing who his real parent was!

    This dad reminds me so much of my own it's hard not to start shaking listening to what he says. My dad said the same thing when I was around the age of going to college, I felt so terrible I started vomiting every day because of the stress and because my dad didn't know why I was throwing up that made it so much worse. I felt guilty, ashamed, that I wasn't doing enough to matter to him
    Nothing hurts more than your parents talking about you behind your back, like you're not good enough
    We've made slow progress now
    But the pain of being considered a failure, both out loud and at home, unaliving yourself sounded pretty good to me at the time...I didn't obviously but the pain, it still hurts.

      I'm in the same situation with my mother. After my dad died, she wanted me to abandon my promise of following his IT business to become a wife and mother. For years I spited her. I ended up becoming asexual so she'd stop pressing it and was happy... until she started using me as her personal maid. All with the notion of "training to be a good housewife".
      About 2 years ago, I met my current boyfriend and he pulled me out of her house. I'm still shy... scared... and struggle to want to make him happy, like it was beat into my mind. He's happy with me as I am and is slowly coaxing me out of my shell so I could embrace my old passions again.
      It's a long process, but I will heal eventually... and so will you. Have faith in that.

    Why would he get arrested for having an affair, or get fined extra for having an "affair" after getting divorced? Maybe if the partner was underaged, but that doesn't seem to be what's being implied.

    • @unknown_lifeform_brett
      @unknown_lifeform_brett Рік тому +3

      I was wondering that too. Having an affair is immoral, but it's definitely not illegal. The cops wouldn't do anything about it. It's a civil matter, not a criminal one.

    • @elarafae3887
      @elarafae3887 Рік тому +4

      Er in some cases the affair happened even before divorce proceedings. The offended party would get the cheating pair arrested for emotional abuse. there was a case where the affair partner of the cheating spouse was harassing the children, via sending them messages with the spouse's account. It was words like your mother is staying with me and going to leave your father. she doesn't care about children from a useless father.
      It was a very old case. And was settled with child support and a permanent restraining order, alimony is nonexistent for this country and so is a divorce. It was more like legal separation.

    Alex is an adult, stepmom and he can do an adult adoption. My sister did the same thing. The day her youngest left for boot camp, she served her husband with divorce papers. And yes she was, and still is, "The queen of Karens.

    • @AuntLoopy123
      @AuntLoopy123 Рік тому

      I hope you mean that in a good light.
      Back in the day, Karen wasn't a thing. But there was a show, called "Good Neighbors" in US, and "The Good Life" in the U.K. One of the four main characters was Margo Ledbetter, who didn't take guff from anyone, and could boss people around, with ease.
      Sometimes, my father would ask me to please come and "Be Margo Ledbetter for me," when he had to deal with Customer Disservice. Sometimes, he also called me, "Super Bitch." He was so PROUD of me for being able to stand up for myself (and him) like that.
      Mind you, my Dad was a strong, stand-up man, but when it came to customer service... Anyway, I took "Super Bitch" as a compliment.
      The trick is that when you are fiercely defending your right to get what you paid for, you always tell the person you're dealing with, "I know it's not YOUR fault. I'm not angry with YOU, personally." And say "please," and "thank you," while you are holding onto that bone, like a badger, who will not let go. And you have to be willing to put the phone on speaker and dance to the hold music for two hours. Also, get names and dates and times, and say, "I'm just writing this information down, in case this goes to court." I learned THAT part from a lawyer.
      Honestly, though, you can be a "Karen," while still being polite, and even kind to the poor employee who's just trying to do their job, while you are just trying to get WHAT YOU PAID FOR. Don't ask for more than that, don't demand special concessions. Don't get cocky or arrogant. And don't give up. The fact that you're not giving up is what makes you seem like a Karen, but it's a very important thing, and can really help your family.
      Jenny was a "Karen," in how she held on to her son, but she's not an entitled Karen. There's a big difference.
      So, I'm assuming the same about your sister.

    Dave is a real legend in his own (alleged) mind, a bully, and a world-class arsehole, to boot. I feel sorry for Alex who is a victim of SOB (Son Of Boss) syndrome. Fortunately for Alex, he has Jenny and they both understand that family is about a hell of a lot more than shared DNA. Kaptain Karma understands this, too, and balanced the scales of justice right upside Dave's head 😁

    I HATE it when people say you're not a real parent if you ONLY adopted. As if adoption isn't real.
    And as if "real" parents can't be just absolutely awful and unfit.
    Go, go, adoption! It is REAL!

      Totally agree. Same can be said of stepparents. If they helped raised you with love and support then they are very much your parents, lack of a blood connection be damned.

    I will say this again... it takes more than just money to raise children... you actually have to be active/ involved in their life... paying the bills, feeding them and putting a roof over their heads is LITERALLY, what you are supposed to do as a PARENT 😒.. you don't get a medal for that.. giving birth doesn't make you a parent... it's what you do AFTER they get here is what makes you a parent..

    • @AuntLoopy123
      @AuntLoopy123 Рік тому

      Yep. Feeding, housing, and clothing them is LITERALLY THE LEGAL MINIMUM. If you don't do that for your children, you can GO TO JAIL. It's the law.
      You don't get a cookie for not stealing, or for not raping, or for not murdering people. It's THE LAW.
      Claiming that you're a great parent for fulfilling your legal requirements, ONLY, is one of the stupidest things you can do. It's not QUITE as stupid as attempting to blackmail a person for murder, thinking they're not going to kill you, too. But it's really close.

    Basically he wanted her to rule not raise Alex with an iron fist. Hourly beatings and constant studying. He couldn't do it because his mentality is obviously raising kids is woman's work until they reach 18 then the father takes over.
    He was mad because she did the opposite. She raised him with love and care. While sperm donor/ATM did nothing but play with his Mistress and complain that son isn't eager to be CEO's son and business partner to non-existing father/son relationship

    to what he said "you get to choose how i raised my child" no dude you choose and you choose to let her do all the child raising while you fucked off. honestly, these types of parents do that so they have an excuse for if stuff goes wrong. it wasn't their fault it was the other parent who raised them wrong while i was nowhere to be seen. and is comment of "its your job to remind me how great I am" sums up his personlity. a failed nobody who deludes himself into thinking he is some big shot. thank all the elder litch horrors out there that op and son got away from him cause he would drag them down just so he can pretend at being great.

    'The blood of the covenant is thicker than the waters of the womb.'
    Alex understood the assignment well and good. He saw who truly is his parent and stuck with them. He came out as a fine man thanks to his step/adoptive mom, who supported his individuality and ditched his sperm donor, who just saw him as a tool. Goes to show what 'family' truly at the end of the day.
