Ren Faire? More Like Rain Faire... A Soggy Day at the PA Renaissance Faire 2023

- I returned to my home, the PA Renaissance Faire on a very rainy day in October. Fortunately, the rain stopped in time for things like the joust to still take place, though maybe a little bit augmented for safety.

Armoury Cat: "Ah yes, the peasants have come to pay tribute."
This is my local Faire! I adore this place with all my heart. This year, a friend from Chicago came in because her friends are in the show! One is climbing the trellis wall at 5:33 (right side in the red pumpkin pants) and the other is the rightmost man kneeling in black when Queen Elizabeth kicks the Pirate Queen down the steps at 6:15. (I believe he’s also the one sitting on the arm of the throne during Wild Mountain Thyme!) Meeting them after the final song was wonderful and really made this year’s Faire such a magical experience for me.

Pa used to be my nearest faire and I spent so many weekends there as a child. I did end up getting to know a couple of the cast members, but they've moved on by now. Still feels like going home to visit when I get the chance to go.
Looks like a wonderful time was had by all. I'd love to go to a ren-faire like that sometime. We just don't have any in our end of the world. Thanks again for sharing your adventures.

i got to pet the armory cat when i went to the faire this year and i have to say it was rhe highlight of the day. funny enough it also rained the day i went 😅 guess it was just a rainy season in general
It was really rainy this summer in the northeast... But armory cats soothe the soul.
Had the same thing happen to me at the Ohio one on Saturday...rained through the joust there and created a lot of hazards in areas with the paths turning to mud
It was a very rainy season! NY & MD faires had to cancel one weekend because they just didn't think the infrastructure would survive being driven and walked so being drenched on since they don't have any paved surfaces.
And yes, the joust can be so hard to still do on a wet field! Definitely rather them make some adjustments than risk the performers or the horses.
I'm in love with the armory cats. Instantly my favorite booth. And I was pleasantly surprised to see as many people out in the rain that were there!

I know, they were soooooo precious! We got to pet the tuxedo kittens after.
The song was recently used in a film, which is the only reason I can think of... But copywriting a particular recording of a song should not affect the music and lyrics when they are so far past authorship claims. Anyway, I didn't feel like fighting the claim 🤷♀️
