Hio Nick I have had a chat with you and found your advice most helpful. Have uploaded my AN application and off to do biometrics next week. After 42 years in UK with ILR, it wasn't easy to find all the required docs; I'll let you know the outcome.

very helpfull video. What will happen if you travel after submiting the application, will that count into your absences? If not when is the best time to travel before your biometric appointment or after.

Just one thing, at what point do i include the cover letter after paying or booking. I’ve just completed my application payed but didn’t book, and I can’t see the cover letter because I need to include something.

Can I ask a quick question: the actual citizenship application website (Documents checklist) says bank statements and household bills aren't suitable proof of residency; the Annex A policy paper (on gov.uk) says bank statements and household bills are proof of residency. 1.- How can I get the right enter to the UK? ( I know the month and year ).
2.- About the 5 last years trips I found a few of them but cannot find more so Is there any way to get a trips history?
3.- I have this scenario: I will be travelling in 2 weeks and one more time in February ( Holidays ) my question is I send off the application next week for example so Will I not be able to travel? I mean if that it will affect the application once I sent off.

Hi Nick, First of all, Thank you so much for detailing out all the sections so we can navigate through our own Application. I have couple of quick questions if you can help answer,
1 - For Previous Visa Application, I have had all together 6 past application (including entry clearance and ILR applications). However, I do not have records of the Reference number as well as the dates of these application. I have left these options empty. This makes the entries look like multiple entries with my name, that it was made inside UK and that fingerprints were taken. Does this crates an issue for my application?
2 - I have a British spouse however, I got my ILR through 10 year long residence. does this have any impact on my application type as I am clicking yes on having a British spouse?

I would like to know if PCN forms part of the lists of penalties to be disclosed and should you tick “ a penalty for driving offence for example disqualification for speeding or no motor insurance”? Section when issued with PCN or not. On the whole, should you disclose a PCN or charge certificate issued to you? Will there be repercussions if you fail to disclose PCN issued to you by a local council? Thanks

"Requirement to have been in the UK on the first day of the qualifying period
If you are applying under section 6(1), you must have been in the UK exactly 5 years before your application was received. For example, if your application is received on 05/01/2022 you should have been physically present in the UK on 06/01/2017."
At which point of the application the date is fixed? Is it when the payment is done?

Hi Nick ,Just a quick questions received my ILR in sept 2022 and my plan was to apply for passport in september this years ,I have got all the requirements like life in uk test and english test ,Unfortunately in august my mother was seriously ill so i had to rush back to home country and i stayed with her to look after her and retuned back after staying there for 4 months ,i would like to know if i can apply for the citizenship now and give them the evidence of why i went and stayed there or i have to wait for another year to apply for the citizenship?

Hi Nick, thanks for such through video guide. I have SS and it is linked to BRC, But my BRC has been expired in Jan 2022. Should I still use the same card for my application or do I need to get a new BRC card before I apply for citizenship? I am not sure if I was supposed to have a new BRC. I have a question. My unmarried partner (that is not British) isn't living with me in the UK and ooesn't even depend on my support in any sense (except some occasional small amount of money to make ends meet).
He intends to move to the UK only after i've bought a house where we can live stably in the UK (at the moment I'm a lodger), so at the moment and for some more time he's living abroad.
Do I have to declare him in the section "do you have a dependant that isn't applying with you at this time"? The dependant term is quite confusing.

If you do not send financial support to the person plus they don’t live in UK the answer is definitely no. ‘Dependant’ meant someone who depends on your physical or financial assistance for their living.

Quick question about the referees: if, in my case, the 2nd referee is my landlord, which is a retired lady (she's living with me at the same address), would any of these aspects affect in any way the application process? Hi Nick, I intend to apply soon for the naturalization , so the 5 years of my qualifying period would look as follows, 4 years on emplyment and 1 year without a work so i am wondering how to cover this gap of 1 year in terms of evidences of residency? would 1 goverment letter that was sent to my address in the gap year with my name on it suffice to cover that year ? how many evidences are needed to cover that year ? hi, thanks for this video! I was going through the policy guide on absences in the last 12 months from the date of application they say the applicant should not have been out of the UK for more than 90 days while the policy has a small clause indicating that the "Total number of absences normally disregarded" is 100. I will be on 103 days when i apply. If my application is refused by the case handler, will I get my application fees refunded in full?

To satisfy the 12 months restriction period after your 5 year stay, do you read from the date your card was issued or when you were granted. Thanks

Hello, thank you for this video. Instead of letters from employer, could I use the income tax statements for the last 5 years and the EU settlement letter? Or, could i use the letter from the current employer( 2 years ) and the EU settlement letter which i got in November 2022 ?
There used to be kind of workers scheme for new EU members. I have done it in 2008. Should be helpful.

Hi, i have one question about the reference declaration form.
Is it possible for it do be done fully digitally - hence take a photo "passport like" and sign the PDF directly and upload that file or does it have to be printed, manually signed, an actual photo glued to the paper and only then scan & upload?

Hi, I submitted my application, uploaded my documents and showed up for the biometric appointment, al goo so far. However, I did all that without having done the life in the uk or the English test, which I booked and will do next Friday. somewhere during my long initial application i was led to believe i could upload/prove i passed the life in the uk and english test as soon as i had them, but I'm unsure I'll be able to tell or give them my certificates once i passed. did i screw everything up? or I can just tell them in a few weeks that i now have my certificates? how do i inform them? Hi Ali, thanks for the feedback. At the time of writing, the documents can be submitted via the UKVCAS portal at any time after the submission of the online form up to the point of attendance of the biometric appointment (or provision of the info via the app)

My wife has just completed her UK Citizenship application form online and paid the fee (currently £1630)
She had previously photocopied all relevant documents, thinking it would be a simple case of adding this to the application.
She was then directed to a separate site .. UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services where she had to open a new account.
It is asking her to make an appointment, which would cost an additional £143.
Is this appointment essential, or just some form of assistance, perhaps for folk not having access to photocopiers etc.
If she has to attend, that’s fine .. she just doesn’t want to be wasting £143

Get a personal information record from gov.uk They will provide all your ins and outs of the UK with dates and destination countries. Docunent costs nothing and it is ready in few days. Ensure to upload everything by the checklist. Post office can certify a copy of your passport.
Hello Sir, I want to ask a question. I submitted the citizenship application for my mum and she has booked her brp appointment. Now I’m quite stressed because I think I might have made a slight mistake on the application. When it asks for “When did you first arrive in the UK?” Is this the very first time you came (for example to visit friends/relatives) or the very first time you came to remain? I hope this isn’t something that will highly affect my application.

And the end of the form there is a option for addition dependent and its place to fill in .. so can I complete it including my son together for applying citizenship or I have to do separate application for child under 18 born in the uk .. there is one pay fee for one application I assume but submit 2 application for my son and myself separate will double 2k and more I’m not sure not there yet just guess and I wish you can help me to verify that to the end

Very informative video. Im an EU national. After submitting all scanned documents and also scanned copies of the reference forms on the online portal and going to the centre to verify and get your picture and fingerprints and waiting for the decisions, during this wait
1) do we have to submit the passport original and the hardcopy of the reference forms filled by post.
2) Would they send out a biometric card (since they took fingerprints and clicked photo) in a couple of months or would you get the biometric card after you get an invitation for the ceremony.

Hi there. 1) You don’t submit your passport to the authorities when applying via the online process- it is usually checked at the biometric appointment, but you get it back after the appointment 1)b) you upload the referee declarations with the rest of your supporting docs and 2) in a naturalisation application you don’t get a biometric card, you get invited (if approved) to a citizenship ceremony and where you get a certificate of naturalisation

Hello, can my second referee be a director of a limited company if its not their primary occupation. In other words the person I want my second referee to be is soemone who is a Lab Scientist but also has a cleaning company and is registered as a director. My issue is it asks for profession and I am not sure what I should put there "Director" or "Lab Scientist"

Hi James, I can’t provide advice on specific applications here, but a way of correcting minors errors in an online form is to provide a covering letter with your supporting documents where this is explained. Again, I can’t comment on your particular application, but this is one possible approach
