Thanks for the the clarity on this critical topic.. My driving condition are very 70% Delhi Bumper to Bumper Traffic and 30% highway. I believe I should go for TC or CVT to avoid the complications. 😊
The end part of the conversation was gem. One of my acquaintance recently got a Nexon and was flexing on the safety aspects. I've seen the guy drive and I can assure he will crash a tank. One of the biggest marketing pull offs is the safety rating systems. Safety is important and so is to ensure that proper driving schools exist and licence is not given out to anyone who registers for it.
Have a doubt here - It definitely would make a lot of difference if people got more careful while driving and thought about their actions on the road before flaunting safety ratings on the road But till that happens we do have a lot of unsafe drivers on the road and is that not exactly a reason why you need a safer car for yourself? I think the camera feature would be useful for the mall parking as they have pillers marked with number where we park the cars and it the camera could capture that then while returning home from the mall when you enter the parking area, you need not have to remember where exactly you have parked the car. The photo would capture the piller number around the vehicle and you can reach that exact spot.

Totally agree with you guys about the safety. While the stars are important, what is way more important is our driving. It is not just about practice like Shumi said, driving is like gym sometimes. You have your off day and your good days. If you feel you are not at your best while driving, you need stop, then make sure you put conscious effort on being attentive and then calibrate your driving accordingly. You also get better each day you drive (just like you get better in lifting weights). Eg., If I feel like I am not in the right mood for Spots mode or even the ride mode on the Ather. I will stick to eco on that day. We Indians have to agree to the fact that collectively we are not good drivers (we have a big ego and we don't accept that) and then start learning.
53:09 Discipline and driving sense is the most important safety aspect everyone forgets and blabbers about crash test ratings. We have a WagonR. Yes its body is "Tin ka dabba" and some stupid crashed into our car and there were few dents out there. But I love that car for its ease of driving as a beginner. And one needs to have cautious behaviour while on the road. I feel frustrated when someone cuts me while I'm driving or suddenly comes ahead of me without any indication. This is called indiscipline which unfortunately our traffic system is unable to deal with. Also what Karthik told is true. People having a call while driving/riding just distracts their attention span and mishaps happen instantaneously. I think someone needs to address all these issues and teach us how to drive/ride well on a road and only then after people can rant about crash test ratings. Also people showoff saying their car is a 5 star rated or their helmet has ece certification so they're invincible but they forget the most important aspect that keeps them in shape that is locking helmet strap or wearing seat belt. Unless they wear them, there's no 5 star safety or an ece certification that saves you after a crash. People need to learn these little things to understand how safety works in the first place.
Can you suggest me which engine option to take 1.0 turbo petrol or 1.5 diesel we travel like maybe 20 kms average? i dont want to regret later wishing the engine should be more powerful and fun
I want to buy imt transmission. Which one is more fun to drive? Turbo petrol or diesel(Eventually the price will be the same for me due to kms)... Pls suggest😊
I agree to the fact that Kartik had to honk in Bhopal. I have seen this in non-metro cities, people don't have a driving sense. I live in Delhi and it's so much more better, most of people atleast follow lanes. Here they have to get to a place and know that discipline is needed for that. The summary is as usual great. I also bought an Ignis as my first car because I trusted Kartikeya had it, it should be good. 😋
Honestly i do partially agree with you in regards to the safety as driving properly is at the forefront. however one thing i like to point out is that the safety features are for "safety". So just because you are driving properly and follow the rules doesn't mean someone else in the road will and it also doesn't mean that he cannot come and crash into you. So its better to have safety features and have safer car as an insurance.
Hullo! The point we are trying to make is - buying a safer car doesn’t reduce your responsibility to be safe on the road. Which is often the perspective.
@@motorinc Well if anyone thinks that they can try to crash test their 5 star cars safety features with the unknown then it's plain stupidity. Maybe he/she will be an example for the masses on educational purposes when any mishaps happen.
@@motorincyeah absolutely as a driver my responsibility is to drive safe but the dynamic environment while driving in India is much more complex and can cause errors which can cause accidents and for that accident for that one mistake that one instance a 5 star rated car is a much better option rather than a 1 star rated car to ensure seamless survival in the accident because everyone how accidents can destroy a person’s life provided the speed is below 70 km/h at time of collision. As Shumi sir said it is a very Grey Topic and people should first understand all terminologies and then come to a conclusion and set their priorities accordingly
Planning to buy sonet. Is the back seat so bad. Every year there can be few long drives which have people at back as well Or should I go for grand vitara
The Grand Vitara is better in rear seat comfort. But Sonet is better for me as its more compact and better fit and finish. However given a choice i find the new Creta really tempting 😊 But really you should buy what your heart tells you to. All the cars nowadays are really good. ❤

I feel when people buy these 5 star cars, they slacken off ki "Chalo 5 stars he kuch hoga nahi". Safety is something you shouldn't be compromising on but as summarised very well, the first line of defense is one's driving habits. Focus on the road. Focus on avoiding the accident in the first place. Drive properly. Also the front looks so good on these Kia cars! I'm a fan 👌🏻
Just love that intro and background silence once the hosts start talking..I don’t understand when the car makers give you all the cameras except built in dashcam.
Test driving cars is what they actually recommend before finalizing the purchase. Well if you think you need to test drive the new Sonet, you should do it for sure to make sure Venue is a better deal and viceversa.
Nice video! After my experience with 3-cylinder turbo petrol motor of VW (on Polo GT TSI), I am really skeptical about the smoothness of a 3-cyl. Whats your advise on 1L turbo petrol vs 1.5 diesel in terms of engine smoothness and overall refinement ?

Hi, I have a question. How is the duke 250 in comparison to Vstrom. I mean in the rideablity part. I have ridden Vstrom in cities, highways and all. It is a very capable bike, can maneuver in the bumper to bumper traffic, can be ridden hard, doesn't stall at slow speeds and loves to revv as wel. Vstrom is calm and capable. How's the Duke 250 in comparison?
hi, Thankyou for the detailed review but with being shortlisted of buying a Sonet HTX Diesel imt for my Dad as a second car while the first being EcoSport diesel, I am little confused with the Sonet itself that should i get 2024 facelifted ones or the 2023 prefacelift models, (My need is to get Diesel imt) which are getting really good discounts of around 2 lakhs, while this being, is it worth to spend 2 lakhs extra for the facelift? or should settle with 2023 Sonet diesel? is the facelift really worth pushing, 1. Rear Disc Brake 2. Rear seat space, 60:40 split 3.Ventilated seats 4.no alloys on facelift htx 5. 6 airbags 6. Chassis stiffened up (doubtful) 7.New one looks good tho 8. Colour choices
What is the difference between transmissions - clutcless manual(IMT), DCT, AMT .?? which automatic is best for performance? Which is best for dirver comfort? Which is easier and cheaper maintain??? Crisp answers are highly appreciated 🙂
The Sonet looked really good, but dunno why they went for the headlight fangs like xuv700. The Venue looks way better imho. But the interiors of Kia makes it a better package. The previous design language of Kia was more cleaner and timeless. The facelifts are getting way more complicated or should i say messier😊
Karthikey you drive car safely but not all others, a safe car atleast ensures some safety if accident occurs because of someone else mistake, if manufacturers like kia giving well built car outside india, they should also give that build quality to us also
Guys, which one’s a better pick between Taigun AT 1.0 TSI (GT line) vs Sonet GTX 1.0 DCT…there’s a lac difference between the two post all discounts. Would appreciate the help
39:38, that's Schumi talking about Nexon's misaligned steerings. Many Nexon's and few of the Nexon's that were sold to customers had their steering a little misaligned, meaning, it would go straight only when the steering was slightly turned towards right side.
The security discussion at end was so good, i bang my head when people bring up verna and scorpio with safety, don't worry my friend i did my research and i get agitated in the same way 🥲, in my case i fear a tad bit in wagonR in ola uber on noida greater Noida expressway but that's about it. Such a good discussion guys these are good cars....we are the problem
Htk plus Sonet will become more affordable and will be more value for money if the following are removed... 1. Front parking sensors 2. Front vanity mirror 3. Sunglass holder 4. Push Button Start 5. Sunroof 6. Auto orvm and mirror 7. Rear wiper 8. Sunroof 9. TPMS Instead, they should retain or introduce... (Personally I would like the following to be available in this particular variant) 1. Projector LEDs headlamps 2. Manual orvm or mirror adjustment. Better for me. 3. Remote key lock unlock 4. Better 2 reverse lamps on rear rather than one big lamp at centre 5. Driver side auto up dn feature
We hope that sooner than later, we're able to pick and choose exactly what features we'd like to pay for in our vehicles @tnamen1307. Really just seems like the ideal way forward.
@@motorinc because of the first mentioned POINTS paragraph, sonet htk plus is way too COSTLY than FRONX delta plus. Hence, because of low budget, I recently purchased FRONX delta plus mt at 8.7 ex showroom price. Otherwise, even if Seltos was higher by 60000 rs, I wouldn't mind buying Seltos. Atleast, they removed the front parking sensors, army rest, front vanity mirror, sun glass holder, sunroof, push start system, tps and reduced to 4 airbags rather than 6. Ultimately, it will be super easy and affordable to buy Sonet. I really want to buy SONET mainly due to its SUPER STRONGER BUILD QUALITY and its SUPER WIDE REAR HEAD ROOM compared to FRONX. Plus, enormous boot space.
Wow! So many things that you explained, all the other reviewers of sonet have missed absolutely! Own the first gen Turbo petrol DCT! Really great that they fixed the suspension! Also great that the arm rest at the back seat is back! Looks really good from the rear but from the front i think it looks a bit like the Xuv 300/700. I feel that the Front could have been a little unique and different looking!
Hey there! I'm in the market for my first four-wheeler and I'm torn between the Venue and the Sonet, both in diesel with manual transmission. It's odd that the Sonet doesn't offer manual in the GT or X line, which is surprising. I'd really appreciate your thoughts, reviews, and any criticism you have about both cars. Thanks in advance!
Do you need the extra space? If yes - then the Selstos is an excellent pick. It can also be a car you can hold onto for longer. And the mid spec may have a few features lesser - but the size makes it more satisfying. Let us know if you have any specific needs/wants - would be happy to discuss.
Hello, could you please let us know how if the 1.2ltr NA is worth it? Or do we need to stretch a bit and go for the turbo? Also would love to know if the KIA IMTs are reliable.
Please stretch for the turbo! It will make this indulgence so much more worthwhile! As for iMT - we haven’t heard of any issues with it - and remember it is just like a manual transmission - so it’s not complicated.
Just like the back seat comfort everybody should also provide back seat ventilated seats and in case of 7 seaters back seats must be able to move forward and backward to adjust leg room space
So guys which one do you suggest under a budget of 11 lakhs, the 3xo or the sonet or the nexon. I cant rely on anyone other than these 2 to make the decision for me
Since you guys get insider info. Am planning to buy venue. Heard there is a generation change next year. Wanna know if the inside space in increased in that. Thanks.
Hi @motorinc, Would you suggest Nexon's DCA or Sonet's DCT. I believe Sonet has dry clutch DCT and it can be a problem for Indian weather. I am aware of the good practices on how to drive a DCT but still worry about their failure. Tata has changed the DCT and they are calling it DCA. They are sourcing it from a company called Punch Powertrain. It is a Wet Clutch (but friction elements are not oil immersed so as to avoid power loss and preserve efficiency) with Single Input Shaft and Planetary Gears that has resulted in 30% less components than traditional DCT. Tata also says it has Self Healing Mechanism to clear off dust. For a family car to be driven for next 8-10 years in a metropolitan city with occasional trips(once every 2-3 months), would you suggest Nexon DCA or Sonet DCT when it comes to long term reliability, smoothness and mileage.
The price of Turbo petrol DCT Sonet is almost equal to a mid spec Taigun TC or a Creta CVT. Should you give up on the Sonet features and go for the bigger car?
By default, our recommendation would be the bigger car - it will be more useful for longer. However, if your need is for a small car or a second car - then the Sonet would fit better.
Hullo! Thanks for joining us here! As it turned out / right after we finished this recording - Kia did confirm that there is a change in the tune for the engines to improve drivability.

Eg., If I feel like I am not in the right mood for Spots mode or even the ride mode on the Ather. I will stick to eco on that day.
We Indians have to agree to the fact that collectively we are not good drivers (we have a big ego and we don't accept that) and then start learning.
Spot on. This is the harsh reality.
Loved the example KS! Totally relatable!
Hullo again ST! Thanks for speaking your mind. Glad to know of your garage and your way.
What about TGDi 1.0 turbo engine? Is this engine robust enough to handle the car for a long duration? What about maintenance?
I feel the safety point has been beautifully articulated.
Can you suggest me which engine option to take
1.0 turbo petrol or 1.5 diesel
we travel like maybe 20 kms average?
i dont want to regret later wishing the engine should be more powerful and fun
Sonet or Seltos? Which is better and which one to buy? I want one with Sunroof, pls suggest. Thanks!
I just love Sumi the way he throws himself into the heated moment of the discussion this is what we call assertive broad sound minded 🌹❤️
I want to buy imt transmission. Which one is more fun to drive? Turbo petrol or diesel(Eventually the price will be the same for me due to kms)... Pls suggest😊
Imt diesel is the best...buttery smooth...I have it.
Oh wow! Great to hear that! Thanks for sharing. How long have you had it?
@motarinc team would really like to know your pick among the two. It would help me make a decision
You guys have the most nuanced view on safety ratings in India ❤
I've lived in Bhopal for almost all of my life. Feels proud to hear the praises of our bada taalaab (bhojtal/upper Lake).
Kartikeya was awed by it! Lucky you!
True and we're hoping the situation improves, Simar!
Hi Kartikeya.. would you recommend to buy top end Sonet petrol DCT than Honda elevate top end. Which both are in the range of 17-18L
Every year there can be few long drives which have people at back as well
Or should I go for grand vitara
The Grand Vitara is better in rear seat comfort. But Sonet is better for me as its more compact and better fit and finish. However given a choice i find the new Creta really tempting 😊
But really you should buy what your heart tells you to. All the cars nowadays are really good. ❤
Hey Avish, for occasional use - as long as it’s four people - it should be no problem. Hope that helps! Let us know what you decide!
Love the way u guys speak about cars with utmost clarity in thoughts and so unbiased. As far as this video is concerned it would be perfect if 1.2 NA petrol also had come into discussion!
Thanks SMuthu! Feedback noted!
Knowing about any vehicle has never been such a light, funny and informative experience! GREAT... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed that, Santosh!
You both are wonderful, continue to do the amazing job you both do. God bless you both.
Thank you so much!
😂😂😂can’t stop laughing and pondering over the impassioned mention of ‘First level of hygiene- learn to drive’. How much more clearer can it be. The summary was 100/10 for me . Did we get an answer to the N line question? Happy I landed in your podcast during my research for the car and not a bike or car enthusiast by any stretch but love the rejoinders and brings a smile to my day for sure ! Would definitely wish to see a video/podcast on using/understanding the ADAS please by Karthik!
Glad you enjoyed it Shobhana! Thank you for joining us.
Hi Kartik,
Could you please let me know which one is more practical and value for money car between Sonet HTK 1.2 NA Petrol vs Brezza VXI.
39:40 yes...! Its a digital display mounted on the streeing wheel.
You sure?
Random thought, but Kartikeya's T-shirts are seriously cool. So minimalist, so chill.
😃 Thank you!
I think they are mostly from Zara Men.
I have confidence in my driving skills but not sure about others, so ratings absolutely matters to me
Hi we're looking to buy the Dct Htx variant. Wanted to know if the cabin is quieter in the nexon or the sonet. Thanks!
Bump Stop (usually silicon/rubber) is what stops metal from hitting metal when the suspension exceeds the travel it's designed for.
Yep yep! Thank you!
i wanted to quit out of this long-ish video review but your conversation is so humane! :)
Wow, thanks!
Hands down 🙌 this was probably the most funniest Motorinc First video till date 😂. Really enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks VM!
Ok love everything u guys do ... But it feels like the car segments r comedic relief 😂.. it's fantastic...!!! Can u guys just do weekend podcast about everything and anything on wheels....!!! Early morning ride evening chilling with couple of beers with your videos on ... Oh yeah!!!!! And now its about time u guys swapped .. car reviews with shumi and bikes with karthik..!!
That will be wild!
Every time a new video drops, me (excited to see what you folks have to say) and my 3 y old daughter (excited to dance on the intro music), we both get on the floor and express our joY!
Oh man Manoj! Thank you so much for sharing that with us! Hugs to your daughter too - the youngest member of the MotorInc Fam!
Best variant for mileage?
Please have a long form discussion like this dedicated to safety info about cars
Hello Sir
Nexon creative plus s vs sonet htx vs brezza zxi plus
Which is good plz suggest
So much tech, pretty sure 5 years down the line, we'll be installing anti virus and anti hacking mechanisms in the car!😂
EVs!
Hey D! On the safety front - absolutely agree!
Just love that intro and background silence once the hosts start talking..I don’t understand when the car makers give you all the cameras except built in dashcam.
Thank you! Dashcams will become the new rage we think.
Shumi is on point, the view from birla temple is bhopal is best ❤
Oh wow! Kartikeya says he missed out on that.
can it fit 3 medium size adults at rear that's the only concern
I have decided to buy Venue 1.0 DCT, I like comfort and premium feel. Do you think I need to test drive Sonet?
Test driving cars is what they actually recommend before finalizing the purchase. Well if you think you need to test drive the new Sonet, you should do it for sure to make sure Venue is a better deal and viceversa.
Should definitely test drive it! Then there will be no doubts or hesitation / whatever you choose.
Now which one do you choose - Brezza AT or Sonet DCT?
I am sitting in a cafe and laughing my lungs out.
Thank you sooo much for the digression at the end. It is literally amazing how you both make so much sense even when you guys are pissed off. I am so glad to have spent my one hour here. 🤜🏼
Hope you timed your sips of coffee right! Hehe Thanks so much for telling us about it! Feels like we were there!
Superb talk, folks.
Would’ve loved it more if the 1.2 petrol NA engine was also discussed as that’s the one most Sonet buyers will be driving.
Thanks SP! Feedback noted!
Waiting for Aprilia 457 video. Please give us an update
Nearly there…
Hi,
I have a question.
Shumi's mischievous smiles just make these convos that much more fun. 😆
Why was the PUNCH EV first impressions podcast deleted?
Shumi sir Became Shankar Mahadevan for Summary…Breathless and on Point..Great Discussion
Haha Thanks!
I always forget to comment this but whoever made your intro music needs a raise or a bonus. It's awesome!
Hey ADG! Thanks a ton for that!
hi, Thankyou for the detailed review but with being shortlisted of buying a Sonet HTX Diesel imt for my Dad as a second car while the first being EcoSport diesel, I am little confused with the Sonet itself that should i get 2024 facelifted ones or the 2023 prefacelift models, (My need is to get Diesel imt) which are getting really good discounts of around 2 lakhs, while this being, is it worth to spend 2 lakhs extra for the facelift? or should settle with 2023 Sonet diesel?
is the facelift really worth pushing,
1. Rear Disc Brake
2. Rear seat space, 60:40 split
3.Ventilated seats
4.no alloys on facelift htx
5. 6 airbags
6. Chassis stiffened up (doubtful)
7.New one looks good tho
8. Colour choices
Get the normal it's more than enough
The digression part is the best part, we need more discussion around these topics and henceforth create awareness
😆
Can we get a video explaining the difference between IMT/DCT and all the other abbreviation of engine options available and which is better?
Gotcha! Thanks for asking, Parth!
What is the difference between transmissions - clutcless manual(IMT), DCT, AMT .?? which automatic is best for performance? Which is best for dirver comfort? Which is easier and cheaper maintain??? Crisp answers are highly appreciated 🙂
Best for performance in the context of the turbo petrol - the DCT. For the diesel it would be the manual. Hope that helps!
The Sonet looked really good, but dunno why they went for the headlight fangs like xuv700. The Venue looks way better imho. But the interiors of Kia makes it a better package. The previous design language of Kia was more cleaner and timeless. The facelifts are getting way more complicated or should i say messier😊
Seltos 😆
The initial tune is so good. It has that different vibe. I made it my ringtone.
Woah! Cool!
"Becuase there's a system, you must learn how to cheat it" this just made my day. As usual, very enlightening!
😆
Just the review I was waiting for. Crisp and clear reviews as always... 🤩 ❤
Glad it helped you @krishna_9700 but these are just his initial impressions of the Sonet.
Karthikey you drive car safely but not all others, a safe car atleast ensures some safety if accident occurs because of someone else mistake, if manufacturers like kia giving well built car outside india, they should also give that build quality to us also
Agreed! But of the choices we have the easiest one is to drive better. It will be useful for any car you ever drive.
Guys, which one’s a better pick between Taigun AT 1.0 TSI (GT line) vs Sonet GTX 1.0 DCT…there’s a lac difference between the two post all discounts. Would appreciate the help
Yes, on the learning of ADAS, please make a video for that
What is the additional cost of maintenance for DCT over Manual/IMT gearbox?
39:38, that's Schumi talking about Nexon's misaligned steerings. Many Nexon's and few of the Nexon's that were sold to customers had their steering a little misaligned, meaning, it would go straight only when the steering was slightly turned towards right side.
Nops, the misaligned touchscreen. Check the Nexon review for that
@@SuyashKaul That could be one as well! God so many misaligned things in Nexon 😂
Right on Suyash! Haha
Is sonet diesel simpler to live with, as compared to competitors? Please throw some light on catalytic converters for diesel cars.
Hi Vikrant! Thanks for that!
Htk plus Sonet will become more affordable and will be more value for money if the following are removed...
1. Front parking sensors
2. Front vanity mirror
3. Sunglass holder
4. Push Button Start
5. Sunroof
6. Auto orvm and mirror
7. Rear wiper
8. Sunroof
9. TPMS
Instead, they should retain or introduce... (Personally I would like the following to be available in this particular variant)
1. Projector LEDs headlamps
2. Manual orvm or mirror adjustment. Better for me.
3. Remote key lock unlock
4. Better 2 reverse lamps on rear rather than one big lamp at centre
Thanks so much RC!
Hello, one question, which is best buying advice, getting top end Sonet turbo petrol dct or for the same price should I get mid varient of Seltos?
Do you need the extra space? If yes - then the Selstos is an excellent pick. It can also be a car you can hold onto for longer. And the mid spec may have a few features lesser - but the size makes it more satisfying. Let us know if you have any specific needs/wants - would be happy to discuss.
I loved the this ep of motorinc first and specially the ThisConnect part at the end 😆
😁
What's your opinion about new gravity edition?
Hello, could you please let us know how if the 1.2ltr NA is worth it? Or do we need to stretch a bit and go for the turbo? Also would love to know if the KIA IMTs are reliable.
Please stretch for the turbo! It will make this indulgence so much more worthwhile! As for iMT - we haven’t heard of any issues with it - and remember it is just like a manual transmission - so it’s not complicated.
What is the long term opinion on imt gearbox is it realiable, since turbo petrol comes only with imt transmission customer dient have an option here.
Just like the back seat comfort everybody should also provide back seat ventilated seats and in case of 7 seaters back seats must be able to move forward and backward to adjust leg room space
Is IMT with diesel reliable?
It’s a simple gearbox - it’s a manual with an automated clutch. 🤷♂️
So guys which one do you suggest under a budget of 11 lakhs, the 3xo or the sonet or the nexon. I cant rely on anyone other than these 2 to make the decision for me
@@mithunrk7692 for 11L OTR depending on which state you live, and what transmission you want, your options would change
Since you guys get insider info.
Am planning to buy venue.
Heard there is a generation change next year. Wanna know if the inside space in increased in that. Thanks.
Hi @motorinc,
Would you suggest Nexon's DCA or Sonet's DCT.
3XO MX2 pro AT or Sonet HTK Turbo iMT. Which is better?
Not the imt
Already bought it, loving it.
Thanks for sharing! Appreciate it! Keep us posted please?
Which variant?
