He's actually dropping down to 1st very briefly in the beginning of the curve to get the tail kicked out, then quickly shifts to 3rd so it doesn't wind out on him, and then back to 4th as he clears the turn.
@@robbytherob it's only enough to allow the drift to begin.. but at the same time, it's been years since I've actually sat in the cockpit of a Daytona arcade cabinet.
@@garystinten9339 There's one near my job and I go there often with my fiance. You can initiate a drift several ways even on 4. The lower gear you go the more speed you lose, but the easier it is. You can start a drift on 3 which is what I usually do and lose less speed but it's harder to control.
Interesting technique for the sharp turn at the Three-Seven Speedway, i know the downshift to 2nd gear drift and then back to 3rd.. but not this one... seems better because it keeps more momentum.
As a young teenager who lives in Brazil, one of my biggest wishes were to be born in the USA on the 80's, so i could experiment all of those incredible games, music, pop culture and all.
@@KingKusuoThey were everywhere in the USA especially in the 90s and 00s. Only in the past decade have they become more scarce due to age, ware and scarcity of parts. But they still are fairly common as the game hits 30 years of age.
Nice arcade playthrough. You need to play in Endurance mode though! 30 laps on expert with manual transmission, and at least one pit stop for tyres. Best lap back in the day was around 1m 32s! It takes about 45 minutes to complete! 😉
You are a very good driver, Sir! Also a very nice cabinet... this looks like tons of fun with that weel and the manual shifting! I bet you cannot walk by and NOT climb in and start the engine every single time. :-)
You can download the M2 emulator and access it yourself. All there is to change is difficulty (amount of time added with each checkpoint) and number of laps, for Grand Pix/Endurance mode.
I like your drift technique. I'm guessing that you stomp the brake as you shift down to third? I must try it. I mostly just shift 1, 3, 4 when drifting. But I cut through the pits and shift 1, 2, 3 on the tunnel section in Expert and exit with around 250kph. I tried the world record technique of clipping the outside wall through the tunnel to reset the angle and keep speed up but I can't do it very consistently. Anyway, awesome video! :)
If you play it in "endurance mode" you can't do that, because (a) the car will stop, and they change your tyres, and (b) if you "drift" too much, the tyres go off, you have no grip, and your lap times drop dramatically! Endurance mode on expert level, with manual transmission, is the only way to play Daytona! 😉 🚗☁☁☁
Nice work on Dinosaur Canyon, man. You could engage the last corner's drift with Gear 2, if you were confident with the angle.... though you'd have to be careful using Gear 4 near the exit, as you could spin with too much speed. I used to hold Gear 3 most of the way, before shifting to 4th on the exit.
There is nothing like the real thing! Great game play! 1. Cabinet 2. FPGA "simulation" 3. Emulation, there are massive quality differences to a original cabinet.
The is so good. On the beginner course are you just tapping the brake and drifting out? Or holding the brake on for a second? Me and a friend just got twin arcade cabinets. Really would love to learn to drive.
The very first video game I ever played. It's short but fantastic. I always liked the learning curve to this game. Still never conquered MT but this game is still fun even if you suck lol
On Three-Seven Speedway you can save time every lap by going on the edge of the pit lane: hard initially but every time you do this you shave off 2 seconds.
1-4 and 2-4 is all u need for advanced and expert course.. alot of 1-3-4 u did there are super super slow. Replace with 2-4 and an early turn will get ur turn speed at e right angles very 295++ km/h Edited Sry and for expert course there are alot of spd u can stay relatively high 290+km /h with just downshift to gear 3 + break or gas release. This isn't the best time record I'm pretty sure. I hv nth to back up for anything but remembering clearly for beginner course, most of the tracks records are 15sec+ and 16+.. I use 2-4 for the last corner and always maintain above 310-315km/h
I always found people who drove with anything other than the cockpit view to be utterly reprehensible. This guy immediately knew to switch. This guy knows how to do shit right.
Dude, whats so horrible about other camera angles that makes people using them "reprehensible", its really dumb judging other people for how they play the game, I've seen great players playing on the normal angle, so what's so bad about it?
if anyone can tell me this ill be really gratefull so in this and many other gameplays I've seen that you can ramp up the engine at the start of the advanced and expert courses my question is How do you ramp it up I've tried just accelerating in manual in 1'st 2'nd 3'rd and 4'th speeds it didint worked i also tryed in automatic what i usually do is just accelerate or add a braking to the process if anyone can tell me how do you ramp up the engine Ill be really gratefull
MintFox AKA Klonoa ripoff push the break pedal, and in the same time push the gas pedal so as your meter is in the yellow part. Then at the start, release the break pedal. It needs some pratice but it's relatively easy to master
Utterly slow....... Beginner 1st on 3rd or 4th lap (16.xx seconds per lap), Advanced 1st before the 1st lap (46.xx on 1st lap, 41.xx per lap), Expert 1st before the 1st lap also (at least 1:35xx on 1st lap, 1:29xx on 2nd lap)....... And thats on a stock non-turbo Daytona arcade machine.
I have never seen this game played so flawlessly. Great upload dude
I dream to be as good as him
