- Taking a look at another one of the Game of Thrones limited releases, this time the House Tyrell Clynelish Reserve. How does it stack up against the standard Clynelish 14 year old?
There seems to be yet another wave of stock available and the recent auction prices have plummeted! Time to crack it open and have a taste?

Clynelish was an epiphany whisky for me around 15yrs ago, sitting in the Fiddlers, Drumnadrochit. Still got a soft spot for it today. Nice review!
Haha I've driven past Fiddlers a bunch of times but never stopped! Definitely looks like I will need to next time I'm up north 👍
It's got some hidden depths for sure, cheers Mark! 🥃👌
@@WhiskyGeek Fiddlers - You definitely should! Hundreds of drams to choose from and great food. Recommended to all.
Epic haircut!
I love it when his hair is longer and it goes in all directions! He doesn't though :(
Haha, it has a mind of its own sometimes!
Another good comprehensive review Ben.
Cheers Bill 🥃👍
Thank you for providing us with such well thought out videos. Your content is always so insightful
Cheers Andrew, it's great to get to explore them! 🥃👍
Congrats on 70 subs too! 😁
Cheers mate. Its another small step forward😁
A nice comparative review of these 2 Clynelish expressions. I enjoy Clynelish 14 but I have not yet tried the GoT version. Congratulations on 500 subscribers. Cheers Ben 🥃!
Cheers Duane! 🥃👍
It's interesting to try but doubt it will replace the 14 YO for you 😜 Have you tried any independently bottled Clynelish? Think I need to search some out.
I have only tasted one other Clynelish and it was a 10 year old Signatory store pick for Vine & Table here in Indiana. I sampled it at a Whisky Show about a year ago and it was very nice. Unfortunately, the cask only yielded 130 bottles and it was sold out before I could buy a bottle. Cheers 🥃!
Been toying with buying the Clynelish 14 for a while, but there are just so many whiskies I want to get/try. 😜🥃👍
Yeah we are spoilt for choice for sure! I do like the 14 year old but I have to be in the right mood, it's got plenty of character but you kind of have to work at it. 🥃👍
What have you been enjoying recently?
Clynelish 14 is one of my favorites... The local supply is low... Sure wish I could find some!
It's an enjoyable & rewarding sipper for sure. Are you allowed to mail order over there in Canada? I'd have real issues finding anything if I had to find it in store over here 🤔 There's only really 1 decent whisky shop near me.
@@WhiskyGeek I could mail order it from somewhere else in Canada that would ship to me if they have it in stock... I haven't looked much online, though. There are many places that sell whisky in my area, and they all carry different bottles with some overlaps, naturally... Clynelish 14 will no doubt show up on a local shelf again, and just by chance I will spy it and buy it on the spot.
Nice review! Enjoyed the 14 and the Clynelish was really the only bottle out of that series I would have been interested in trying other than the Oban. Only saw 1-2 bottles in my area and they were in the $150 USD range. Crazy! I could get 2 bottles of the 14 AND an Antiquary 12 blend for daily sipping for that price. Really like your flavor graph/wheel. Do you use a specific one or did you create your own? Trying to find one I can work with comfortably. Have tried a few and just not found one yet that I like.
Oof that is a crazy price! With the recent stock hitting the market over here it can be found for £48 RRP and ~£30 at auction!
Will be working on the Oban review soon 👍
I created my own but it was on the back of reading a couple of Charles MacLean's whisky books so they likely influenced it!
Cheers A R 😁🥃👍
Whisky Geek Well looking forward to seeing it when it’s ready all the same. 😃. Keep up the great work!
Nice review Ben. Thought provoking 😜
Cheers Chris! 🥃👍
Great review. I tried so hard to get a bottle in the US when released and could not find one. Don't want to pay secondary prices.
Yeah the secondary prices did get pretty insane. Think we're lucky over here as they've brought out another wave of stock so they can still be found around RRP. If you can get hold of the Clynelish 14 year old then you shouldn't feel like you've missed out really 😜👍
Very interesting my friend.
Glad you found it interesting 😁👍
Any chance we can get Scotland to outlaw food coloring in whisky?
Haha if only! I think the Scotch Whisky Association aren't that fussed about it, and it makes the large-volume products (Johnnie Walker etc) easier to make consistently. Since that's where the majority of the money is it is likely to stay unfortunately!
I totally agree - you did almost the exact same thing I did in my German video - NICE!!
Haha 🥃👍 I've not seen yours yet - will have to check it out.
Hmm I can't find your video - what's it called?

Ah, my German isn't very good 😜
mmm Clynelish...and E150a :-)
Haha, I'd love to get my hands on a sample pre-E150a and do a comparison 👍
