I'm finally going to try boning. I'm self taught with sewing and this has always been something I wanted to learn. Thanks for such a simple clear tutorial
It sounds intimidating but it really isn't too bad! I think the professional look & finish really pays off!
Please post a video on making adjustable straps!! By the way I love your videos!
Yay I was wondering when you were gonna post next, opened UA-cam, and Here You Are! 😍😍
Can you do a pattern as cheeky as the Roxy bottoms but with straps?🥺🥺 I would love to create a bikini like that 😍
So beautiful one of your bests
Thanks!
I made this top and love it but I think it would be better with a V wire separator instead of boning for us bustier ladies
You rock!
Do you use stretchy tread for the serger? For the four of them???
Nope, I use wooly nylon which isn't stretch thread, but it can withstand being stretched! Sometimes I use it in all four, but you really only need to use it in the loopers if at all! It's the best, but with regular high quality thread you might not have any issues
Hi, I would like to know which brand do you use for the rotary cutter blade because I try few and after 1 use became useless.
Rineidy Guerrero I bought the same one she recommended and after the first use its not longer cutting. I even got replacement for the blade and it didn’t work
I want to start my own handmade swimwear line but i do not own a serger machine because of how expensive it is. I do have a Brother machine with 17+ stitches. Is the Brother sewing machine a good start
I have a swimsuit line and I make the swimwear myself. The Singer 4423, 44S or Singer Fashionmate have been the best I've used over the years for stretch fabrics with no problem. But you'll need a serger for better stretch with no snapping and a more professional finish.
@@justcurlsandsunshine thank you I will be looking into getting a serger
I recently bought a coverstitch machine that does more professional seam finishes specifically for knitwear. I think that a regular straight stitch/zig zag stitch is okay for personal projects, but when selling a finished garment it's not the best. If you want to make the most of your stretch fabric, you'll want a machine that does a coverstitch.
@@MegaEpicZero it's possible to do clean, functional swimsuits without a coverstitch machine. But I've heard they certainly make it easier. I posted a video here on UA-cam about the machines I use and they work quite well for my swimsuit business
@@justcurlsandsunshine I understand what you are saying- and, yes, I did actually watch your video! However, I still stand by the coverstitch. It's true that straight stitch and serger can give you clean stitches- however the function of the stitches are not the same. They each serve a different purpose. It's a designers choice as to what to give their customers/clientele. Where I'm from- a zigzag stitch on stretch fabric is an immediate sign of "homemade" and is frowned upon. So, I avoid it at all cost as it is bad for business. Personally, I want to put forward my best, so I got the machine that would produce a proper stitch. On top of that- if the stitches were sufficient, they would be used as standard practice in manufacturing. They CAN get swimsuits, tshirts, and other knit garments put together, but not as efficiently or with the same quality.
@Cherese Ealy You can sew on whatever machine you currently have until it no longer does the task you need it to. You can advance whenever you're ready! What machine to get really depends on the quality you want/are able to give to your particular customer base; and your personal ability as the seamstress. If it's not a hassle for you to sew stretch material on a straight stitch- and get a professional finish- than by all means use the straight stitch!
