just like to point out, as a Canadian, every ultimate player i know (and myself) were extremely upset with the way Furious George (the canadian team) represented our country and played. It was out of line, it was aggressive and it was poor sportsmanship.
they issued an apology for the way they acted but that isnt enough, I just want to put this out there so spectators dont hate on future canadian teams because of the actions of bad apples, even though it may be well deserved.
As a Canadian, I agree. I was cheering for the Japanese at the end.
Yeah, it was rough. I still love Darren Wu for his skies, though, because he has better sportsmanship than this.
NewAgeEagles why don't you just shut up. The only reason they are apologizing is because they were caught on video. How many people do you think were injured (possibly permanently) for this despicable Canadian team to get to this stage? Where's your bleeding heart for them? Don't defend Canadians. You're only sorry you were caught.
+ishr5913 No, he is trying to stop people like you from commenting exactly that. Respect anyone and a team. There was one contact, where the Japenese faked the injury after the other player was injured, and that was bad. Everyone contacts and we do not know what actually happened down there in their minds and if the Japenese player wanted him to contact him. Sometimes that happened but there are limits and rules.
Who pissed in your cheerios mate?
ultimate frisbee should be an olympic sport
It's a lot better than most of them.
And running, some times more tan other sports.
but with Canada BANNED from it
+Noah Hollingsworth Bull crap
And now... It will be
respect for japan!
canada must re-read the rules of ultimate...
If I was Japan, I would've just let the field. This Canadian team, (not ALL Canadians or every player here) was just disrespectful. bad foul calls, tackling, just plain disrespectful... No spirit
All I can say is that was intense and I am glad that Japan won.
What a terrible defense play from Canada. Really not cool. This is Ultimate, not soccer.
I thought it was Football XD
MrWorldHope or even worse, hockey
Which of the three are you talking about?
I always wondered if Ultimate could be a legitimate spectator sport. THis proves that it could be.
Exciting action out there
Sports are for playing, not watching.
if you think that a 11:52 second point is the longest point ever...then clearly you've never been to a B team tournament with an inordiante amount of wind :)
Very disappointed in Canada, their player can't control himself.
2020 was still better than team Canada's sportsmanship.
that guy calling it has the most annoying voice I have ever freaking heard -__-
Was that Steve-O announcing the game or match or ultimate whatever it's called? Sounded like him.
every time I watch this it disgusts me. 8 and 9 on canada are a disgrace to the sport of ultimate
+Caleb Shen I would've just hucked one into his mouth if he was marking me after all of that.
i give team Japan mad props on keeping their composure throughout that point
Of course, you do. Did you know "Shen" is a common Asian last name. WOW!!!
Puppet show bio my comments and feeling regarding the two teams have nothing to do with nationality or race. Had it been the other way around, I'd be supporting (thru a UA-cam comment, haha) the Canadian players and putting the Japanese players on blast. So please don't misunderstand where I'm coming from.
Also, I don't think Shen is that common of a last name in the Chinese culture. As to other Asian countries and nationalities, I'm not sure.
Canadian Team deserved to lose playing like that.
exactly... that number 9 (Gabe Saunkeah) such a pathetic human being...
canada101 Yeah Gabe Saunkeah makes me want to vomit. He is like a microcosm of what is wrong with the Bieber generation.
canada101 Twice in a row?! DISGUSTING!
+ishr5913 Don't hate. He is a good player with one mistake. I'm sure you've done the same thing and others also. It's normal to contact in ultimate. Just a foul. And you come out hating all the Canadiens because of him and Beiber. SHUT YOUR TRAP! Because you saying that is worse than contact in ultimate.
it wasnt the foul, the foul was fine, that happens, but it was the fact that the guy was withering on the floor in pain and he just took the disc, whacked it on the ground and waited for play to resume and didnt show any sympathy
Thankfully Japan won this one. The Canadian team showed very poor spirit and clearly made some bids that they shouldn't have causing injuries.
I hope they watch this video and see the criticism they are receiving for their playing.
Beautiful hammer at the end. What a grind!
lol canadian player had 4 fouls in a spand of 30 seconds xD
I'm so glad Japan wins this game. Everytime I see the 2 bids from Saunkeah and bid from Hibbert (starts at 7:30) I feel so angry at Canada.
Ultimate Frisbee isn't usually like this. It's more friendly and outgoing matches, it would depend on the people you play with. If you have somebody in your match that helps people get up or motivates people, than your match will obviously be positive. But if you see unsportsmanlike behavior like that number 9 guy, than the match will be more intense and aggressive.
I was playing, I'd be knocking that guy on his ass until he left the field.
I know right. Fk that guy
Lesson from this video: When you're in a drastic situation, a hammer is always the best option.
Team Canada is dirty.
Im SOO happy Japan won this game!
if i were that second guy who got tackled by #9 i wouldve gotten up ready to fight his ass
Wow. That bid at 7:30 was dirty. Clearly trying to slide into him.
Brodie! I am so excited to watch some ultimate on Sunday in Santa Cruz! I'm gonna try my absolute hardest to find you and Goose
pick called in the middle of the field: wfdf rules - play stops even though it had nothing to do with the resulting play, especially since the disc was in the air to the person that threw the score. or something like that
Every game there is at least one point that just goes on forever
So happy Japan scored :)
Canada. It's Frisbee. Not football
Oh! OK! Thank you! That' actually really helpful.
There was a pick away from the disc, but there is no continuation rule under WFDF rules.
Those were ridiculous... thanks man, don't know how I missed it the first time! Ii must have been distracted
Anyone else notice the guy during the celebrations who gets knocked to the floor?
I love seeing contact in ultimate
that was a collective 27 minutes point... thats insane
As a Canadian this was embarrassing for me to watch and I'm glad Japan took the point.
Much respect to Japan for not going ninja on those Canadians.
Commentator voice made me cry
Should be non contact, the hell what was canada team doing here.
What league/tournament thing is this? I didn't know there were international teams.
Spirit of the game am I right
that Canadian team was dirty, eh?
I'm Canadian and I don't agree with the Canadian players being so aggressive in a "Non-contact" sport such as Ultimate. Point went to the better team, GG Japan
Amazing
Im from canada and in no way does this reflect the way anyone else in canada plays.
there was a 50 minute sudden death point in nuoor last weekend. think that may have been longer
i clicked the video expecting a really long field catch somewhere in the video... 4 minutes in, i realize that the title is talking about the longest point (timewise).
by the way brodie i'm in school and i go home to check to see if you have anew video everyday
Asi es como se daña el equipo de todo un equipo! por unos cuantos que no saben la regla numero 1 del UF
dam they play rough... but i didnt know ultimate sports would be this much fun&intense to watch.
I'm Japanese, and it was sad that this game became famous because of the bad aspect of the whole game. But as I read the comment from team Canada (check out the article of Aug10 on Furious George HP), it seems they learned how their play would be criticized. I don't affirm the dangerous plays and threatening attitudes, but I respect their dynamic and attractive playstyle, and I really hope they'll show us great games with the spirit of the game as one of the strongest team in the world.
Hey Brodie, Why are some of the defenders not putting on a mark on the other teams handlers? Strategy or fatigue?
Where is the best place to look at the Ultimate rules?
look at the time in the lower left corner at the beginning and end of the point, it's closer to twenty five minutes.
Nice play japan..
holy crap, at 8:30 he didn't even try to play the disc....disgraceful, that's not the ultimate I know and love.
Well its official. I live on the only spot on earth that hasn't heard of ultimate Frisbee. Podunk, Michigan
Have you even played the game of ultimate before?
Although Canada really wanted the disc the contact was just ridiculous. Canada should keep a cool head. On the bright side it's nice to teams fighting hard for the disc.
What is this Cancer?
ikr. can't believe he just grabbed the disc like that. wat in the world.
Question: at 7:54 did the sub on blue team travel by moving his pivot foot?
I thought Ultimate had a ref. Wow. Just proves what I know…
Anyway, thank you for your reply :)
I'm from Canada and i'm glad Japan got that point they deserved it
true that.
What did Canada do?
yes plz
omg, this dude's voice
was there any back story to this game? normally games aren't this vi9lent with the agressive marks
Is that Steve-o announcing this game lol!!
They kept stepping with the Frisbee?
2 words 2 describe this while watching: jacked up.
It was a travel. You can see the players pivot foot lift on the ground as he throws the disc.
what game is this?
That sounds like Steve-O doing the commentary xD
Nice disc length D, canada. jeez
6:36... wtf cameraman
Google Ultimate Frisbee goes pro sportcenter...or youtube it.
Holy crap this point was nearly 30 minutes!!
If you watch the throw it seemed like he travelled. Thats probably what was called.
Lol its funny how some people who dont even play ultimate are making such absurd remarks. Theres this thing in ultimate we call "the spirit of the game" and this is what makes the game so unique and special. Please google it before talking about something you dont even know.
what happened to that one japanese guy @11:11? did he get injured in the celebration or something?
2 pretty much full contact tackles. the first ankle/leg injury: canadian pretty much lands on japanese guy's ankle i think that would hurt don't you?
As for the second one I am not sure what happened so whatever on that one.
I though canada's one of the most friendliest.
when tf did they allow tackles
multiple full contact tackles. I believe a couple of them are 7:00 to 8:30.
that guy sounds like A Robot my gosh!!
Ah, I was wondering about that too. Seems silly since you could force a pick any time a receiver breaks away deep. Of course it would be against the spirit of the game but that didn't seem to stop the Canadians from slamming into the Japanese players and injuring them either >:(
Canada must think this is a contact sport or something.. Theres a difference between laying out and tackling..
No offense to ALL of Canada, but the Canadian team seemed like they were so desperate to win that one guy started to purposely trying to injure them. I mean the tackle was really unnecessary .
Karma got Canada for that poor display of sportsmanship. It's shit like that that can kill a game as awesome as this one is. Making intense defensive plays is one thing, but bidding into someone when you obviously have no chance of getting the disc is just stupid and dangerous. Sooo Glad Japan took that point, they definitely deserved it!
I had a 19 minute point this season
looks like a travel. His pivot foot moves as the throw is made
tell us some examples of what you think are no fouls, and we may help you out;) best teams are as "zabreklz" says ;)
i love when this happens because when you actually score it feels so muhc more rewarding
There is an ungodly amount of traveling.
lol "this is not hockey"
they didnt replace the second guy
8:42 no way in hell the defender was even trying to get the disc here. It actually makes you look pathetic. You can't do well without constantly fouling your opponents?
What is wrong with the score @ 1:03? In the previous 15 seconds i see no fouls, what was called?
