Thanks for your video. I'd been thinking that someone in the family was opening the dishwasher before it had finished because it wasn't finishing the cleaning cycle. But then I suspected the door wasn't latching, so I called my repair guy a few weeks ago. He checked it out and said that the door had been closed too hard sometimes and it somehow caused the latch to become jammed and that I could manually reset it if that happened again. That five minute visit cost me about $140, which was a little hard to swallow, but I don't actually have a problem with it; I'm paying for his skill and knowledge and he pinpointed the problem right away. I instructed the family to be more gentle when closing the door, but the same problem still kept happening from time to time. I didn't realize how simple it is to access the latch until I watched your video. I removed it this morning and checked it out and it appears to work fine for now. If I have the issue again, I guess I'll order a new latch anyway.
I'm a million years late on this, but I have had this problem since I got the dishwasher. I just pulled it apart and all the parts were there, but I think things were misaligned and needed some lube. Put it all back together and it feels like this might be fixing the problem. Thanks man!
Just want to say thank you for sharing this video. The demonstration at around 6:15 was the key in knowing how this part works...it was preventing me from closing the dishwasher door.
Yes! This was the video I needed. I had already taken the front panel off like it said to in some other video and I didn’t even need to. In the process of putting that all back together, I managed to dislodge my LED floor indicator light and I can’t figure out how it fits back in so I guess I’ll be taking it apart again. I can’t find a single bit of information about that. But now I think we can run a full cycle without having to slam the door over and over again! Thanks.
Thanks for posting this, it solved my problem, my latch was intact but in the down position. PS i'm told NEFF, Bosch and AEG use the same latch. My washer is a NEFF.
Such a helpful video and it encouraged me to order the part - clearly I could not fix the latch - it kept getting stuck and would not work. WHen I followed your instructions - everything matched up except the latch part had no screw or design for a screw...exact same latch but it was attached differently. It has a ushaped metal bar on each side holding it in like a prisoner. There is no way to slide, push, lift - won't budge. Extremely stiff metal and I tried bending it backwards - it bent but does not look right so won't force anymore. I have a photo but you don't have an option to share a photo on your comments. Any ideas? Thank you!
our bosch is a different model but uses the same latch. our latch checked out fine ,but what was happening ,the top of the dishwasher would flex upward and not allow the latch to exert enough force downward to keep the door closed.i installed a shim over the latch ,between the dishwasher frame and the underside of the counter top.it works like a charm now.
Thanks, watched your video while on hold with Bosch. "A representative will be with you shortly." Not. Took it a part and must have loosened something and it works! No part needed.
I thought I'd have to get the replacement part. Luckily I read the comments and others said they just jiggled it around and it worked. I was hoping it would be the same story for me, and it was! A screw had come loose on the top; don't know where it's from; I'll have my husband look at it later. It was jammed sideways but when I took it out, the dishwasher still held in place. Anyway, the latch worked after that! Your video is helpful though!
Thanks for this video, that is almost certainly the fix for my problem of the door being very hard to open and close and making a sound like plastic parts being way overstressed. I thought perhaps there was failure of an electric latch that was supposed to open after the cycle completes. The machine is excellent at cleaning dishes. It replaced a $1500 top of the line Kitchen Aid (Whirlpool ) with hidden electronic controls that went to the dump in less than 3 years. Circuit board failed, various plastic pipes and spray heads warped from the heated dry cycle so that more water spewed from the no longer aligned pipes than got to the sprayer arms. Plastic wheels on the top rack would fall off, causing the whole rack to fall off the track when pulled out, the wheel mounts on the bottom rack became bow-legged from the heat, and the bottom rack would often go over the edge when pulled out, 2 floods where the cheap spring hose clamps allowed the hoses to work loose....
Where do we find the number to tell what model we have? Our door won't close either. Ours doesn't have that kind of latch. Our dilemma is located in the door part of the lock, not the part located on the machine part.
I have a different model but the latch mechanism is similar. Thank you for the video, it helped me fix my 6 month old Bosch dishwasher while I wait for the service (to be in my house in over a week). On that note, Bosch used to be a great company with great products and quality control. The famed "German engineering" is no more. Or is it the American manufacturing, as the dishwasher was made in the US? Right now, I am seriously reconsidering GE appliances as it became clear one has too look past the brand label. Bosch means absolutely nothing right now.
You're welcome, I'm glad this video was useful! On the quality of Bosch, I am sad to partially agree. While this dishwasher actually functions and appears to be built very well, some part designs do seem to gloss over long-term strength / wear and tear. Some other Bosch products, namely their automotive parts, have also taken a quality hit. Their spark plugs used to be very good; in recent years, this has changed, and they are no longer the plugs that I use or recommend for my older VW's. As for GE appliances, I have a few of these - and I've (so far) not had any problems with them.
My Bosch door wasn't closing tightly without slamming. There's a metal reinforcing bar about 10" long on top of the frame above the door. I placed a small level on it and noticed the frame was bulging slightly upwards in the center. I put pressure on the bar and bent in back to level. That worked well for the time being , but I'm going to put a shim between the frame and the counter top to keep it from reoccurring and keep the bar from weakening due to metal fatigue.
My bosch dishwasher was not filling with water, replaced control board, water inlet valve and it still didn't work. Replaced the door lock and still nothing, when the dishwasher starts its cycle and I open and close the door the water will enter and all is good, have you any ideas of the problem.

I didn't end up replacing, but your showed me which way the latch moves so I was about to close the door, thanks!

Thanks, took ages to find a video where the latch mechanism was in the top of the washer rather than the door. Very helpful.
Just want to say thank you for sharing this video. The demonstration at around 6:15 was the key in knowing how this part works...it was preventing me from closing the dishwasher door.
And you can play the video at 2x speed by clicking on the gear symbol!

Very well explained, easier than expected!

My latch was wedged and just needed a little nudge, which I wouldn't have known without this video. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. It is very helpful! Especially, thanks for taking the time to explain what you are doing.
Thanks for demo. I pulled my latch out and the machine worked. No parts needed any replacing. Thanks a doodle
Same thing happened with me. Saved a few bucks.
thanks for posting this... the spring loaded demo was all I needed to fix my latch. 👍
Mo too
You saved my dishwasher ! Thanks a lot.

Thanks! you are a life saver! Thank you for showing me how the bolt works.
Brilliant buddy thanks for your video, the explanation on how it works helped me fixing my door that wouldn't close :) thanks !

Good thinking! I'm glad this video helped to get you on the right track!
I think this is our issue as well latch seems to check out
Thank you!!! That was it!

I'm glad it helped! Hopefully that stray screw isn't for anything *too* important!

I just want to say THANK YOU! You just saved my nerves.
Thanks! Super helpful. I had the same issue and with your help, it's now fixed!

Very, very helpful. Easy fix.

This vid gave me an idea on how to fix mine. Nothing else I searched for was remotely helpful.
Very helpful video. Thanks
Thank you. My replacement latch is on the way. Hopefully my repair will go as well as yours.

The latch seems to be working but how did you realign the magnet?
