Thank you, Scott! My Mom went to Tates Creek in the 1960's. Beautiful trees. I used to throw the baseball with my Dad there when we visited my Grand Parents in Lexington. Thanks for your ministry. Victor Garcia from Georgetown, TX

In Christian circles. The whole "husbands love your wives and lay down your life for her as Christ did for the church" verse is taken to an extreme it wasn't meant to be taken to, and in turn it has ruined masculinity in churches. This verse is given a feminist twist to mean that men should essentially submit to their wives and obey them, because that's what laying your life down means. And it's also used to tell the men that they are selfish for having desires or sexual needs.
The original context of this verse was written during a time when it was extremely patriarchal, and women were viewed basically as property. So Paul was writing to men in a culture where it was common to abuse and even murder their wives for insubordination. So Paul was telling this men "don't be like this culture of violence, but instead treat your wives as people and honor them as the weaker vessel. Understand her and live in harmony together.. But wives also submit to the man and revere him as lord and win him over by being submissive to his authority because he's the head of the household"
But nowadays it's taken as "husbands be cucks and do everything your wife says, and wives, you don't have to submit to your husband unless he's doing what you want. You get to be judge jury and executioner."
And this is why masculinity in marriage is gone.
