      You said MRT's so packed. Did you mean the BTS that's so crowded?

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  Рік тому +1

      It seems the MRT near Asoke is always packed. Maybe there are fewer trains? The BTS can get crowded, but another train will be along in 3 minutes. You'll see the doors open, and people don't bother. That never happens on the MRT. They almost cram in. It's no big deal, but it's trickier to get on and off

    There is a much simpler and quicker way to get to the BTS. DMK airport has a bus to the Mo Chit BTS station (Green Line), it's a 25 minutes ride, costing about 30b. I last rode it in April 2024, total ride less than US$2, from DMK to Nana BTS Station...

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  Місяць тому

      They've always had the Mo Chit bus. The area near Chaeng Wattana is full of diplomats. At anytime they can stop traffic for 15 or 20 minutes for a motorcade. The train is way easier and more reliable than BKK traffic. Mo Chit to Nana can take an hour in BKK traffic. The train might be 20 minutes. But, if you like a bus, that's cool

      @@EagerExpat i flew in from vietnam 3days ago and found it very difficult to find the red line because signage is very sparse.. i finally found the entrance to the red line on floor 2 of domestic terminal at the entrance to the car park garage ... once i found it things were simple and the Red Line and Blue line take VISA with just a tap at the gates (NO NEED TO BUY TICKETS) but to get to the Green Line you have to take both the Red Line (to Bang Sue) and then the Blue Line from Bang Sue to Chatuchack Park Station and then leave the building entirely and walk over to the stairs that go up to the Green Line at Mo Chit station

    If you have a contactless credit card (visa or mastercard) you can just simply tap it at the fare gate. It works both on SRT Red lines and all MRT lines. Foreign credit cards accepted. No need to use cash. Only BTS doesn't have this kind of system.

    Train station is very far from Airport terminal cause They have a plan to build a new bigger Airport terminal on the opposite side of train station in a few year so they have no choice to build train station here.

      It's not that far, but it might catch some people off guard. That will be nice when they get a new terminal. I prefer Don Muang over BKK

    Hi Joe. Thanks for the detailed vdo. Super helpful. One question - overall, how long did it take to get from DMK (let's start the clock at the airport concourse, after you exit the International Arrival Hall) to the MRT Sukhumvit station, including the long walks to the stations etc?

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  11 днів тому +1

      Hey thanks, I did this video a long time ago. I'm a lot less shaky and pointy these days. Ha ha. The train takes awhile. I know I did a better video, I can't find it, maybe my flight to Kuala Lumpur, that gave all the times. To walk from T-1 to the train is a solid 15 minute walk.
      These government trains don't run every 4 minutes like the BTS, so you might wait 15 minutes for a train. You also have a long walk from the government train to the MRT at Bang Sue (Krung Thep Aphiwat Central). Maybe 8 to 10 minutes. Make sure you get on the correct direction. It goes in a giant circle. One way has 8 stops and the other 20.
      So if you get lucky, it should take about 1 hour 20 minutes. If you just missed each train, maybe 1 hour 40 minutes. Now the airport rail link from the Asoke area to BKK is 23 minutes. It has 5 stops?

      @@EagerExpat Thanks a lot Joe. You've been really helpful. All in, I guess I should set aside two hours for the entire journey. If I arrive early, then I guess it's Singha time lol. Cheers.
