Great shots for historical purposes. Huge potential for development.

Breath taking photography! I worked there during my Summer holidays in the mid to late 1970s. I saw the office where I was based in the video footage. It's poignant and sad in many respects that a once bustling industry that was a hive of activity is reduced to an abandoned site now. I suppose the plant was very much of its time and as time moves on things change and better systems and methodologies are developed making plants like this redundant. Very interesting and enjoyable video footage!

Great video😍 I remember this Fertiliser company, and when it closed..... such a MASSIVE loss of employment to the whole of East Cork!! So sad to see nothing else gone in there..... surprised site hasn't been cleared either🤫 😪😪😪

@Atlanticway Paddle & Adventures It was only when I moved from nearby to Limerick that I realised how much the emissions from that plant was impacting my breathing. On foggy nights, you could see the green smoke coming from the chimneys. I had many friends who had dads working here, all died long before their time. And of course there was the gas filled train that passed under our noses twice a day.

Port of Cork are moving their bulk cargo terminal down here. There was an Adhesives company on the site up to recently.

My dad worked here from when it opened right up until the end, 25 years. It was around Christmas time 2002 he took me to see the plant when It just closed. I was blown away over how big the place was. In this video you can only see the concrete buildings, but there were dozens more steel structures all around the site. I remember us taking the lift to the top of one of the towers, when the doors opened the wind was so strong I had to latch onto the railings, thought I was going to be swept off! :D (I was only 12) Great memory but sad to see it like this.
