Excellent video sir, clearly a lot of work put into it.Thank you.A lot of people making incorrect statements here about farmers 'stealing back' the line. This is incorrect, the permanent way was sold back to farmers in the late 1990's as Dronehawk himself has mentioned.
I have to say...this was BRILLIANT, excellent, no kidding, inspiring, one of your best. Am from Cork and never knew there was a rail line 'buried' and waiting. As a veteran cyclist, I say, roll-on that Greenway.
Super video, thanks for sharing with us, always great to see 👏 wouldn't it be great if the railway could be reinstated, bit of a pipe dream but hey ho 👍
The route of the Rosslare Boat Train. Good to see Fermoy looking prosperous. Please slow down over notable remains of the old infrastructure. I look forward to your transit above Dungarvan.
That's fabulous footage along the old rail corridor and of what remains of the infrastructure. However its sad to see how people have built upon the trackbed and the fact that government in conjunction with Irish rail sold off this 'small but historically significant' piece of land.
I have cycled the Waterford to Dungarvan greenway and this route looks like a great addition to it, along with providing a route to attract cyclists from around the world (although I was born in Dublin, I know live on the west coast of Canada).
I purposely avoided flying over homes on the line as much as possible so there's many more in your situation not seen in the video. I have no stake in the argument for a greenway either way , I just want to show the line as it currently is just from a historical perspective
Ya great video of the old line!! Amazing how much of it farmers or builders have just taken OR even built on 😏🙄 the Viaducts are some feat of engineering 🤯🤯🤯 wonder what the fermoy one looks like!! Hope you get to 🎥 down to Dungarvan, would love to see how the bridge at Cappaquinn looks from the air as it’s a long low bridge 🤔🤔
Large sections of Cork Macroom now submerged underwater by the Lee Resevoir. It is why the line closed in 1953. Was uneconomic to realign it at the time.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” I don't see the relevance ?
Hopefully this greenway won't happen. Most of the line has been incorporated into farms and residences. The Waterford greenway was untouched...it was a simple matter of tarmacing the old trackbed. Not the case between Mallow to Dungarvan.
You are Correct, they're are many homes now on the former track bed. You don't see these in the video as I avoid flying over people's homes as much as possible.
There's a giant hill between the two , which is why the railway never went beyond Youghal. Even if they put a greenway in , it be too steep for most cyclists, except the lycra clad crowd.
Super work as ever. Never knew about the Kicummer Viaduct, very like the Fermoy one. Will make a great cycle way.

Correct. And that will presumably make a greenway uber expensive in this instance.
Fantastic video. The Cork Bandon railway route would be a great greenway and also make a fantastic video with all the bridges and tunnels

Thanks , glad you enjoyed it , hope to do fermoy to lismore soon once I can find the time
. Could you do the Mitchelstown line that ran through Glanworth to the Fermoy line please? It would be great to see it.
Super video, thanks for sharing with us, always great to see 👏 wouldn't it be great if the railway could be reinstated, bit of a pipe dream but hey ho 👍
Never happen for the same reason it closed , it's easier to go to Waterford via limerick junction
That big farm /milking parlor may be a big problem. There is an issue on going on Waterford to New Ross and it is very messy. Great video.
Great work as always. Looking forward to the next one!

great video. thanks for uploading.
Always amazes at the amount of the permanent way "acquired" by landowners along these proposed greenway routes
Not acquired, sold back to them by the railway
Excellent video.
Excellent. It must have taken you many hours and days to film this.
Yes , there's a lot hours put into this

A lot of green will be removed by a greenaway. Should never of been abandoned.
If this is ever built this will be one of the most scenic inland greenways in the country. I hope it's pushed through.
Now all they need is a road linking Fermoy and Mallow. What's there is a disgrace.
I have cycled the Waterford to Dungarvan greenway and this route looks like a great addition to it, along with providing a route to attract cyclists from around the world (although I was born in Dublin, I know live on the west coast of Canada).
Most of the rail line to dungarvan is gone is it ? Threw towns like capoquinn and lismore etc?
Yes ,like Mallow to Fermoy. If I get time this year, I'll cover the rest of the line
@dronehawk pity they got rid of all them years ago
Quality right of way and should be a railway with the population growth.
The route at Lisinaaky is not clear. Our homes built on old railway track. Where can act plan be found.
1.45 to 1.50 of video
I purposely avoided flying over homes on the line as much as possible so there's many more in your situation not seen in the video. I have no stake in the argument for a greenway either way , I just want to show the line as it currently is just from a historical perspective
1:10 laaaaad
The line should be re opened to femoy

It was legally sold back to farmers/land owners in the late 1990's
Not taken. Bought fair and square.
Part of railway line not greenway will be reopened to trains.
Never gonna happen, farmers have reclaimed most of it.Same with cork to macroom.
To be fair , when the railway closes , the land upon which it ran is sold back to the original land owners probably at a cheap price.
Large sections of Cork Macroom now submerged underwater by the Lee Resevoir. It is why the line closed in 1953. Was uneconomic to realign it at the time.
@@dronehawk yes my family are farming next to the carrig viaduct which is shown in the video and my grandfather said it was sold to him

Mark 4:17 . . . . . AET.

Lot of fine farms going to be ruined again.
NO GREENWAY!!!
Youghal to Dungarven must be, to connect Cork with Waterford.
