    There's one thing that we can say about On with certainty. They are perfectly happy to insult (and lose) their Swiss customers. Sure it's a small market, but why insult it? Here (in Switzerland) the shoe retails for 360 Swiss fancs, which is 400USD. It is amazing really, and they do that with all their products. It is just easier to take the car for a day to Germany or France and buy from there, but purely out of annoyance with their rip-off policy, I am not buying them eitherway! (and many Swiss people I know don't either)

      @jkhoudini Рік тому

      Yeah that’s so strange. I was visiting Switzerland last month thinking I could get On gear for cheaper.
      I feel like On is purposely trying to place themselves in the premium category even above the likes of lulu lemon to capture the athleisure market.

      I didn’t know about that! I already struggle most of the time to understand big differences in USD vs EUR prices, this is even more strange. Thanks for letting me know!

      @@AlexFilitti Yes, such diferences are usually attibuted by casual observers to "different taxes" between countries, but really this is not the case. The Swiss VAT is much lower at 7.7% than say in Germany at 19%), yet On's are invariably more expensive in Switzerland. At the same time other products like say Swiss watches are priced the same and other things like electronics as well. So no, it's not a tax thing. I am guessing it's just On's decision to try and milk more money from the presumably more well-off Swiss.

    thanks Alex - great to have a 150km review on the day of release... so many of these shoes are great to run in, but wear varies and you end up converting them into a training shoe too early. the nike gap is closing, unfortunately more competition is not leading to lower prices!

    Just watched kofuzis review a minute before your 150k review popped up 😂 great job as always 👌 the amount of great shoes is growing so fast these days. Thinking about how much I and others spend just to find what works for each person is mind boggling 😵‍💫

    Great video Alex! This is definitely my most anticipated shoe, and if on one side I’m happy it’s going to be finally available, on the other one I’m concerned a next iteration is already on the horizon. really looking forward to a comparison with the Vaporfly 3…although I will buy the Echo Boom regardless 😅
    By the way, the MetaEndurance light on the background was exactly the same shade of green of the shoes…just a coincidence?

    I have version 2 of the cloudboom echo and I absolutely love them. Based on reviews so far version 2 seems way more versatile being lighter weight and less stack. I feel like the cloudboom echo v2 you can really do anything from track repeats to half marathon paced runs. I found the version 2 to be a similar situation it’s 275 dollars. I really barely use it just because it’s so expensive but version 2, I would thing is more durable considering it’s the foam they use. I think the tri version has a different upper and the idea would be a road marathon focused and a tri version with properly a lightweight upper and lower stack potential

    @miksiggins1522 Рік тому +1

    Yeah I think this should have been properly released about a year ago (when it was expected!)
    Since they delayed that long with so many athletes using they should have identified and fixed the heel grip issues
    I’ll still buy a pair though haha!

    Great review as always! On the topic of new iterations I have a feeling when it comes to super shoes that no major upgrade has come from the vaporfly 1 and that all new iterations are just minor comfort/style upgrades and the athletes times look to confirm that. It's good that all brands now have a similar level of performance shoe to make it more interesting and have a competition in the market. So it doesn't really matter how long this shoe stays "new" other then reviewers and sponsored athletes you can't really get to try/use all those shoes coming out :) Anyway that's just how I feel , would certainly like to hear your opinion!

      I've run in quite some supershoes (probably 20 different ones). They are all a little different. Some are firm and dull (hoka rocket x), some really aggressive (vaporfly), some really forgiving(new balance rc 2), some extremly propulsive/bouncy (alphafly), ... They all have a little different character/rocker/foam. But I agree, that you could race in most of them without losing much/any performance.
      ps: alphafly 1 is still my favourite for any difference.

    This is a big mistake by On in relation to the price point and a better version (Tri 1) being used by athletes. I don't see much uptake for this shoe with the availability of cheaper, better, and more durable options

    Agree on the last point. I'd like to have an idea of when the CloudTri will be out. I have had the Echo Boom 3 for a few months but don't think it's well suited to marathon distance.
    Although, in fairness, I assume the CloudTri was designed specifically for triathlon so I don't think it is a direct replacement for the Echo Boom 3.

      WTCS and Ironman apply the same rules as WA so they’re actually bound by the same rules for triathlon now. CloudTri is what it’s called on the list of approved shoes. Probably also as they developed them with their top triathletes

      After we saw Gustav Iden win the World championship in Kona in an On shoe, there are now many more On sponspored athletes: Chlesea Sodaro ( the women's world champion), Paula Findlay's names come to mind as well as Kristian Blummenfelt ( the Olympic champion). They seem to have taken some space out of Asics, which was predominant among the Tri athletes mid and long distance. Hoka is the other very present brand, especially with Rocket x2.
