Good stuff. Continuity cadre for new members of the Bn. You said before that some of the guys had been in Bn for a year or so. Is it also a sort of upgrading cadre for those guys? Do you still even have different classes of Infantryman?
Yeah so for those more senior are placed in there to aid with bringing on brand new guys. It’s not selection or anything like it more of a train in. Now it’s up and running again (covid & then operations) it’s an annual course. If a Ranger has completed any form of promotion course (Lcpl) or arduous course then they don’t need it. The infantry just has the next phase up (class 1). Fully trained
This assessment is where that gets highlighted. Then a plan can be put in place to get the individual up to scratch with swimming. Its used to be a compulsory test to pass to pass out of basic, I’m not sure when it changed but non-swimmer’s are arriving from basic. My advice to anyone looking at joining would be to learn prior. As it does limit opportunities being a non-swimmer.
Your Exactly right, I’m not trying to portray anything that it’s not. Perfectly achievable to anyone that applies themselves. They will start to get abit more fatigued as the field phase begins.
You are a respectable person, for physical fitness and the way you uphold yourself.
Thanks for the channel.

Makes me feel like rejoining
is this course like the old class one infantry soldier course we used to do back in the 80's ?
Yeah same idea.
What does it take to pass do you have to meet a certain time based on how far you swim for example 500M
As your part of 16 Bde are you able to do P coy & do many lads go for it ?
It’s not impossible to get on but it’s not a must or priority. Parachute Regiment are priority for jumps etc.
for the non swimmers, have the staff taken time to actually teach them how to swim?
Yes, if you can't, you get extra lessons in basic training

@@Rangermedia I'd try to learn cause I know I don't know how to swim
@@charlesnzeh960 yeah I’d definitely recommend doing you best to learn. Maybe grabbing some lessons at a local leisure centre.
@@Rangermedia I was thinking I'm sure I did this stuff in basic .
Without going into specifics obviously, is there many guys from the Republic joining?
Yeah, there are plenty of people serving from all over Ireland.
@@Rangermediatraditions continue cheers
Good work on the videos
Can other countries in the UK join the Royal Irish Rangers?
Yes as a British Army regiment, anyone applying can join.
@@Rangermedia I shouldve just watched your other vids... sorry for asking a probably tedious question.
@@calger1790 not at all mate don’t worry about.
Nothing particularly challenging up to now. Hard but not that challenging.
