She replaced Ava Gardner’s vocals on Show Boat after MGM boss decided they weren’t good enough. Actually if you listen to the Ava Gardner versions which are on UA-cam, they are amazing. Ava was a southern girl with an earthy sexy voice. I have an original 33 1/3 version of the soundtrack and it has Ava’s versions. Listen & compare.
