Alain Smith no I’m joking it’s actually part of the Aussie accent because of the sentence she said: “rippa-r of a party” we usually add an ‘r’ . Another example is when someone says ‘idea of it’, us Aussies would pronounce it like “idea-r of it” , because we can’t pronounce two vowels in a row! If she said ripper on its own she would have said rippa

I winced watching her explain some of these haha - here's the ones she got completely wrong:
Fair dinkum - in short, it means true / accurate / legitimate
    Doovalacky - miscellaneous item
    Pash - french kiss
Frothies - this one hurt me the most when she got it wrong. A frothie is a beer
    Dag - unfashionable
Last but not least, it's not come a guster, it's come a gutsa. It means to have an accident / trip over, that sorta thing.

Yeah its like the word "Selfie" recognised around the world but it was invented by an Australian. The word Awesome is British word about 100 years ago and not used much by them but Aussies made it famous and now Americans say it a lot more than we do.

"Come a Guster" was misspelt, the "s" and "t" are the wrong way around and the word is "Gutser" not "Guster".
And "Come a Gutser" means to take a heavy fall, it's the same as the term "Come a Cropper"

  • @SWhite-hp5xq
