How cool that reporter didn't try and break her balls with questioning when she was really feeling it. That's good journalism.

I was around professional golf for 18 years, and always likened golfers to surfers....you paddle and paddle against the waves to catch a good one - when you do, ride it out for as long as it will go because eventually it will run out and you'll have to paddle and paddle again to catch another one...hope for Nelly that she catches another good wave soon...she's good for golf!

Well said. I don't surf because I respect the power of the ocean, but that is a perfect way to describe golf. This is why I always feel like what Tiger did in his prime was so off the charts. The guy didn't miss a cut in 142 straight tournaments.

@@washredskin887 Yep, what he did was other wordly and most likely never seen again. Kids nowadays have SO MUCH available to help their games, and so much competition. He was a prodigy, for sure!

See at least nelly talked to at least 1 reporter after her round. Didn't immediately storm off regardless of how bad the round went for her.
She should spread some of that maturity to her fellow Taylormade staffer.

I assume you're talking about Rory? How many times has Rory talked to the media? After good and bad rounds. NO ONE is perfect and these players are playing at the highest level w/ the most pressure. Especially with what Rory is dealing with. I cut some slack to Rory for last week. I probably would have done the same thing.

People make bad judgement calls in emotional moments. The disturbing thing is how entitled everyone acts to someone else’s time, thoughts, etc.

#1 golf is a hard game, it doesn't care what your last name is or what you previously may have accomplished. The game exposes you both mentally and physically. #2 In Nelly's case as mentioned below, could just be exhausted, she probably has had no time to herself this year just to unwind.

I can’t help but wonder if Nelly’s issue isn’t the golf at all, but the focus, the motivation and/or the priories? Maybe her priorities are in flux? She’s accomplished so much and it just doesn’t seem that someone as good as she is, and actually number 1 in the world, just loses it so dramatically in such a short period of time. Family has always been first and foremost for Nelly and Jessica and maybe seeing her sister Jessica very happy with a new baby without playing golf and wondering if the time, energy and effort to be as good as she is in golf is worth it at this point? Also, she may be realizing that Jessica is not going to be coming out on tour again anytime soon or for as many tournaments a season when she does that she use to play. I’m sure that would be disappointing for Nelly as well. We just saw Lexi say part of the reason she’s retiring after this season is in part due to the loneliness of playing the tour. I would also think that knowing your performance directly affects other’s lives and means of making a living, is stressful.

She almost made the cut. Her shots were not bad, just a tiny bit off. And that was it.

She needs a new caddie or she needs to start listening to her caddie. I watched a couple holes and her physical game is fine but her mental game was less than amateur level today. When she pulled that wood out on the 6th hole in the woods he should have said no and made her hit an iron back in play and limit the damage. At that point she needed a par to get her head right and the caddie should have make sure that is what was going to happen. This is twice her caddie has let her down at a level not acceptable on the pro circuit.

I think Nelly’s issue is mental/emotional verses physical or golf related. I think a lot of what Lexi has said about playing the tour and why she’s retiring after the 2024 season is also affecting Nelly.
