It kind of came out at a weird time. For example I still have a mad katz MOJO which was ahead of its time and is stuck on android 4.3 or something. Cause they went out of biz after that came out. But it was a powerhouse at the time then the Shield came out a bit after and had so many more features.
I love my Nvidia Shield, using 'the naughty' apps, emulation and the legal streaming services. It's the price thats high, but in my opinion it is worth it. Only thing i hate is the remote that breaks after a while and keep saying the batteries are low, with pulling them out and in, reboot the shield/repair you can stretch it a few weeks before changing the batteries again. Or replace the remote with something that comes with a package from china ;)
My original game controller from the Shield has died (I still have the other small one shown here) I use a bluetooth controller from the Kruidvat with it and that works fine in most cases.
LOL naughty apps, im not buying into the retro addiction anymore im going emulation, these guys on youtube literally getting aroused buying $1500 retro games..its becoming a mental crisis in the community at this point if your willing to pay that much for games.
I've just checked... Nope... no scratches :) Considering the time it's already in my possesion a fantastic purchase. I've ordered it along time ago in Germany when it was just out there because my Sony TV had really bad SmartTV and since I cancelled my Cable TV subscription I was allowed to use the money saved for the 16Gb Shield TV. It's a bit unflexible with some things (a better boot menu would have been nice for alternatice OS from an SD/USB would have been great!) , but still the go to machine if I want to watch youtube on my beamer. :)

I have that one 💯👍 from 2017 , too bad it's abandoned by Nvidia , no more updates since 2021 " I think" , and Android 11 makes the home screen super laggy , the controller battery came faulty for me ( after 3 years of use ). But I still love it 👍
I’ll be totally honest with u, I’m not very good with computers, I’d just like to plug and play in my ideal world, or if someone would set it up for me, I don’t mind paying for the service. I really like the fact that there is this thing called open bor because I can play all the older games I used to play and now they have a twist ( especially final fight LNS ) I’ve been sending wicked games countless messages to help me but he’s ignored all my cry’s for help ? 😢
Nope, it does psp and Dreamcast. But GameCube , the odd games work. PS2 I've had no luck. Switch, you can forget it. Even though it's the same chipset, it wouldn't run
It's good but i don't think its worth the price, you can get a 12tb hard drive packed with so many games and more systems for around the same price that you can run on your PC/Laptop
LMAO you can buy the regular shield, not the "special edition old model" you bought and probably paid up for I paid $70 for mine, (actually cheaper and i bought the ac adapter separate it was system only) you get a external HD to put all your games on. Amazin how you buy a "acute" version of the shield then try to claim its got a high dollar price tag...yeah cause you went out of your way to buy the 500gb pro, with controller in box..thats not going to be the same price margin for the average buyer. whats a chinese android box cost? with spy ware and backdoors? add $20 and get a shield off ebay? Amazin

Its such a solid box for playing retro emulation, yeah its going to be a thing people want.
Definitely need to change the 500gb HDD to a SSD otherwise when the HDD fails the shield will not function anymore

So far Nvidia showed a great support for android.
When the android get's to old and not updated there is where apps stop working.

Try installing a launcher. I use Wolf Launcher on my mine, no lag at all. Only have on your home screen what apps you want.

Shield... it's ok... but for less money - you can buy a mini PC - which has more power, emulates games better and you can also work on it
