Now that there’s only one planned mission left for Delta IV Heavy as I’ve read online we will truely miss this amazing vehicle.
What will replace it for pay loads of this size?
@@margaretrichardson5033 Vulcan Centaur
Yes, the last Delta Heavy core arrived at the Cape in the past few weeks.
The Delta assembly area at Decatur plant is being converted for Vulcan usage.
The second stage for SLS (Artemis III) will be last assembly from that era.
@@margaretrichardson5033LA's Vulcan Centaur w/ six GEM-63XL solid rocket boosters and SpaceX's Falcon Heavy will pretty much replace Delta IV-Heavy. In fact, the US Space Force just recently leased the SLC-6 launch pad to SpaceX for use as a Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch facility (much like LC-39A at Kennedy Space Center, except that SLC-6, as we not know of at this time, will not support Crew Dragon launches into polar orbit; SLC-6 being originally built for the USAF's Manned Orbiting Laboratory, and later reconfigured for the Space Shuttle before the Dept. of Defense cancelled the use of the Shuttle for DoD missions in the wake of Challenger).
I work on the Delta, I'm gonna miss her when she's gone🥺
Nozzle extension deployment is always so cool to see in action.
I love SpaceX, but this is how you do commentary: Keep it to a minimum and not the constant chatter. Well done Andrea!
I agree, I've gotten to the point where I wish SpaceX would just shut up with their excess commentary. They've launched enough times now that we don't need to listen to a whole novel about everything happening every second. I'd rather just listen to mission control.
Indeed!
SpaceX broadcasts blow this out of the water boomer.
Nonsense, the pictures alone from Space X are way better. Its almost like ULA only use low def! Don't get me started on the animation stuff instead of continued camera work.
Nonsense Commentary of ULA is best.
23:49 t-10,
24:00 lift off,
25:20 max-q,
27:57 cut off/separation of the two side boosters,
29:45 meco,
30:52 fairing separation.
Thanks.
You the MVP!
*slow golf clap*
Thank you!
Terminal count begins at 19:59
Congratulations on this penultimate flight. Great coverage and commentary by Andrea Lenhoff. Kudos to all those at ULA who worked to build these amazing vehicles. Good luck with Vulcan\Centaur.
Congradulations, ULA, on your successful launch.
The Delta IV Heavy is a pretty rocket. It is a pity it is so expensive and cannot economically keep flying.
10:30 for the tribute to three long-term ULA employees including my dad 🤍 this was so great of the company to do and very much appreciated by the families
I worked with your Father for many years in Decatur, and cannot express the privilege to have done so. He talked about his Family constantly and how proud he was of you all. Mark is "that guy" that made you want to strive be "it" whether, a mentor, a friend, a confidant, a shoulder to cry on at times, or a solid ear that listened without judgement. And one of the finest Technicians at our craft.
For those of us that knew him, we shall continue to remember and pass his Spirit on with each rocket that we build. Glad that I ran across your post, thank your Family please for sharing your Dad with us, we miss him too. Many were humbled and blessed to have known him. I assure you that he made our Lives better......just by being himself.
Dave C. Delta II/IV Payloads Team
thank you for those kind words Dave. He set a high bar for workmanship and quality. And is still very much missed.
Congrats ULA for a successful launch of NROL-68!
It's bittersweet given its the 2nd last launch of the most metal rocket ever.
🔥🤟🔥
Awesome to watch. The flames at launch have been explained so that even I can understand. I was wondering if the flames around the engines at 24:33 is normal. I'll miss watching these fire breathing beasts going forward.
I was wondering about those extra flames around the engines as well yes, great question
Yes, due to air flow in that area. It does look er, "interesting" to see though for sure.
It is normal burning of excess Hydrogen. It is also why this particular rocket would be nigh impossible to certify for human rated flight. (edit>>) My bad, misunderstood your comment. The nature of the vortex of air as the vehicle is traveling creates a negative area at the base of the rocket so while it seems that something is on fire, it is some of the flight gases that are moving into that 'zone'. Kinda like the strong wind vertices that can form around tall buildings.
Ah I'm going to miss these flying.. fantastic rocket!
Отличный запуск! Жаль, что Дельта 4 уходит в историю...
God i love delta iv heavy, it’ll be so sad to see it go
Wonderful... Amazing liftoff... Next launch , the final Delta IV Heavy Launch... Can't wait for it... It's NROL 70 right?
Amazing launch!
got to see this one in person!
Good flight!
Watching this launch provides a really good example of why NASA was leery about SpaceX's pre-launch sequencing. NASA was used to seeing a long hold after propellent loading was complete to do the final checkouts. SpaceX does these checkouts during propellent loading.
Beautiful bigger and better farther than we go
Super Impressive Delta IV Heavy launch showcased by this *Eye Candy* video! ULA Rocks - Go NROL-68! 🚀 💯 🤓
Is there a video with only the sounds of the rocket and no commentary?
Beautiful
Really appreciate the footage. Can’t wait to see the Vulcan fly. Hopefully the coverage will catch up to spacex with with velocity and altitude
Where is the rocket landing video coverage?
What a pretty beast 😊
Where was the landing?
love the thumbnail! gg guys
can you pls give the blueprint (nice video btw)❤
i tear up wheb i think about this next launch. just 3 days away until its gone forever.
Awesome! Go ULA, Go USA.
Thanks. Almost the end of a very long era. 😶
Congrats NRO
ULA this is the third rocket launch i am watching from you
So what happens to these booster engines? Are they recoverable?
No, they fall back to the Earth and are completely destroyed.
does the fairing separate into 3 now?
It’s an old (metal) design from the Titan IV days when that rocket did these missions…
4:24- Good morning, Andrea! 👋🏻
ULA? This is the first rocket I've seen launch that wasn't from SpaceX.
Hope the last launch is a day flight but it won’t be :(
Everybody wave to all the folks on console tonight!
🔥🔥🔥🪐💥💫 Огонь !
That thumbnail = soft disclosure ;)
5000lbs of fuel per second seems so surreal
Name of history anyone else know
Are they going to recover the port and starboard boosters?
No. All thrown away.
I know what day what time what year..
If media Rock falling from the sky how fast it is? If we flip over the sky under our feat rocket booster will do the same..i have more comment but finished
24:32 - rocket is on fire
Very late but that is expected
Nowhere to hide - I see what you did there ;-)
"T-minus 10... 9... 8... light rocket on fire... 7... 6... "
Let's see SpaceX try to light their rockets on fire before they launch. HA!
I dont think thats a good thing
The dragon has risen to guard America's treasures; think twice before stealing from their pile of gold
Promo-SM
I know ULA has a different presentation format, but video quality from the vehicle itself is very poor compared to SpaceX, especially when they have to switch to computer graphics in place of real time video. Maybe a daylight launch would have better video?
15 minutes after stream finished they block saving this garbage video , need some fixes obviously...
How much did this cost taxpayers? $350M?
What percentage is that of the BILLIONS we have given Ukraine?
Compared to SpaceX launches, this coverage looks like a grade school production.
There it is, there’s the spacex comparison. Sigh
You have the option to just not watch this webcast
We can't just be happy to watch an amazing rocket launch? Compared to a bar of gold, a loaf of bread is very light but what need do we have to make a comparison?
@@odynith9356 what else would anyone compare it to?
@@Nick-wn1xw I guess you could compare it to Blue Origin and all their orbital launches to date... Oh, Wait!
You have to learn of Space X.
No miles, no feet, nothing.
So boring
It's fascinating how it's easy to become spoiled with the quality of SpaceX casts. The audio, video and graphics quality (rolling text bar at the bottom of the screen, vague progress description on the left, no T-/T+ times, etc.) here are like a propaganda or parody film from the '70s, for crying out loud.
It shouldn't be difficult in the 2020s to do *a lot* better than this. Audio of the commentator shouldn't be sounding like a cheap CB transmission, video resolution throughout is awful, add a damn timescale with clear milestones and if/when they are achieved to the interface, etc. etc. Come on now, ULA. Do better.
Well, at least the launch went well, that was good to see.
"Support humanitarian efforts".... Yeah, like another proxy war like in Ukraine?
so primitive. Gov stuff is so 50 years behind
