Sitting here absorbing the loss of the incredible Gordon Lightfoot and discovered this gem. What a fantastic cover of a classic. Thank you.
I remember when first hearing this great cover in year 2000, still sounds fresh 23 years later!
same! I'm shocked I found it again!!!!
@@mattblatchley2061ㅔㅐㅐ
Definitely. It still sounds fresh to me.
2000’s had great cover songs like this one, alien ant farm/ smooth criminal and limp bizkit/ behind blue eyes/ faith. Just to name a few
Every time I listen to this song my neighbors listen to it too
My 70 yr old mother loved the original version, so I played this for her. She LOVES it. I can't play the original without then playing this version for her.
West coast man lives this song
So sad Mr Lightfoot passed but y'all really showed him respect by doing a great job remixing Sundown. Rock On and Much Respect!
I was 29 when this came out, I’m 52 now and I still listen…one of the best covers ever !😊
I heard this on a tv commercial, 15 years ago. I finally found it. I guess i should not consider detectivework as an occupation.
old enough to remember the original but can appreciate this take on it... respect is due!
Feelin' ya ^,^

One of the best covers ever made, of any song. Pays homage to the original but is original itself. I’ve always loved this song!
Me too Brother. 👍 Um Sister. 😊
Me three!
The rare perfect cover. It’s quite faithful, but not so much so that it’s totally unnecessary. Love it.
Word.
Love it
My mom worked at Family Video when they gave this away as a trailer on Cassette, along with King Fish. I can't tell you how many times I hit rewind to listen to this.
I don't usually listen to Rap music, but this is not bad in tribute to the original. Rest in Paradise Gordon.
I love Gordon Lightfoot and this is an AMAZING cover!!! You did DAMN GOOD ELWOOD!! ✊✊
Totally. Not big on remakes myself, but he did a damn fine job, without taking away from the original. :)
I've been looking for years for this remix, and just now in my drunken state I've found it... Well worth the hangover 😂😂😂😂😂😂
LittleCreeper
A Naughty little creep😉
I'm 60 now. I'm guessing 20 years ago I was working down on Interstate 10 from Katrina running a bridge grinder which Grinders concrete down. My boss kept telling me to listen to this song he found and he was like I know you like it and I was like hell no he was about ten years younger me. Anyway when he put it on I was amazed I was like damn they did the original Justice and maybe a little bit better. But when I could never get over is they never made it not big time but they never made it big even though they did the original if not as good better period and you never heard really nothing else about them down in the southeast. Anyway Elwood y'all did it damn good brother be proud of yourself. And I'll quit rambling but y'all did damn good Brothers!!!!
I think this new take on it revives the older version and shows originality from Elwood. I'm not as old as to appreciate the original version as much as the newer one! Elwood's version is incredible! Love it! It brings back some of my favorite memories! My brother who passed was a HUGE fan of the arts, and he introduced me to this song! It FOREVER is remembered with reverence for his memory!!!
This is pure brilliance on so many levels
WOWwwwwwwwww! only issue I have with hearing it right now is that I'm at my desk at work & can't get up and dance!!! :D
Dana Wallace best Damn reply one could Ever hope for..... Absolutely Love this tune.....
So glad I work from home! 💃🏻
Absolutely love this version!! Especially the intro with the needle on the vinyl!!!
RIP Gordon Lightfoot ✨
One of the best covers ever,
❤
I F***KING love this song! Elwood did the original justice.
NO actually...this travesty is like p-ing on a prime-rib dinner......and then eating it, and saying, "WOW!! JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL!!"........
Always a hater. But Gordon Lightfoot would have been proud.
@james Parker Nobody said "Just like the original"... And I don't like prime rib cut... I prefer the filet. And it's only 3 dots. It's a called an ellipse or ellipsis. (Spelling is regional)
I love prime rib myself, but have found Delmonico even better. I love the marbling. I save the fat for desert. Mmmmmm
@@davidaloca4791 Have you tried Wagyu beef? It literally melts in your mouth. There is never a bad cut.
Just, THE BEST😉😎👍🏻🤠☝🏻👌🏻
Very classy cover of a classic! Great work.
This is such a brilliant cover version of Sundown
This track is hot! Thank you.
Just awesomeness
Im a fan of the original, this version is bad ass. Ive had it in my playlist since napster.Well done
Same! 😆
Same!!!
This Country fuckin rappin shit be bumping 😊
I know there are some purists that hate Elwood's cover, but they do not realize how many people it navigated to the music of Gordon Lightfoot. :-)
Of course the original is better but this is dope.
I have Gordon Lightfoot on vinyl and Elwood on MP3. This was the second song I DLd on Napster.
I like both versions a lot
Gordon Lightfoot is why im here. I dont normally like remixes, but this one killed.
Agreed- The original is classic but GL is essential listening and I think you are totally correct regarding opening the gate to music from the past ( :✨
I've been looking for this song about 10~15 years! Thank you -
first song I downloaded from napster.
San Hawk Napster that’s old school. Limewire was my go to for downloads.
Oh my god San!! Me too :))
Kazaa!!
You are a tool of the highest order.
Same....crazy. That was a million beers ago.
Absolutely love this cover! I was like 12 when I first heard it.
I'm a Gordo purist (favorite albums are Cold on the Shoulder & Summertime Dream, and his remakes on Gord's Gold), and I like this version! Very clever!
Sundown as a album is my favorite! Seven island suite and watchmans gone
Always loved this rendtion, it respects Gordon Lightfoot's craft and adds a fresh twist on the original. Glad its not a karaoke version.
It still can be a karaoke song. Believe me cause I've seen a few tries at a karaoke night where I live 😂
Rapping to country beats and fresh lyrics this guy is a fuckin. Genius
2019? Anybody
this was brilliant
still is...
An AMAZING cover!!! Well done Elwood!!!✊
Awesome song.always play it at parties!
2019...still chill
Love the old version and the spin of the remix. Great job
Summer of 2000, I was riding with new friends from Manchester New Hampshire to Boston, and those chords came over the radio. I was....."What the.....?" then it went into this remix. I loved it
Reminds me of my son, who is 48 now, playing this version of the Gordon Lightfoot classic when he was single and living at home. I played him the original and we had a great time. He still likes to find samples of rock classics in rap and hip hop tunes and sending them to me for fun.
This was from at least 20 years ago, right?
2001 if I’m correct
I'm pretty sure it was only last year. Right? Right? Dayum.....
Takes me back to the summer of 2000! Turned 16 that year, great times!
Aebischer1984 Summer of 2000 was epic!!!!!
Me too. 1984 generation rules. Happy 33
Me too! Long summer Canadian nights...
Yup I was about to start my sophmore year of college. They had this one on quite a bit in the student rec center on the University of Missouri campus.
1984 rules!
I had this album years ago. Still a good one in my book.
Theve taken the song & made their version awesome
Been searching for this song for awhile. Lost the mix tape/cd that this was on.
We're happy you found it, Jeff. More music from Elwood, here: ua-cam.com/video/qNKDmrANWVU/v-deo.html
I heard this on a 2000's Abercrombie and finch in-store music CD and I'm so addicted to this song
I gotta say i love it. Still smoothe still mellow like Gordons version but with some stank on it. I feel pretty sure that gordon would be tapping his feet chilin with that big hair saying i like it
Been looking for this forever!
i'm old AF. love me some lightfoot. saw him 25 yrs ago in NY. this cover is good shit. An expansion and update to some soul feeling
A well written song will always stand the test of time. Fantastic version of Mr. Lightfoot's classic tune.

I seen Gord play Sundown in person, and I appreciate this.
This song is legit
Born ‘70. Love the original. Still love this one too. Like Little T and One Track Mike’s take on Donavan’s work from the period.
RIP Gordon : (

Leaning toward, Better Than The Original. They really slap those beats
Did a great job. One of my favorite all time
We'll done
.
Love the original but this one is kickin'
I grew up with the Gordon Lightfoot version and always loved it. But...IMHO...this version is even better. The interplay between the two vocal parts is brilliant!
While I prefer the original, this version is still a bop
Wtf is BOP?
Is all-rite! I don't hate it, I like it!
This song was promoted through napster
Looking for this song for a while. Just bought it on iTunes.

Very cool. Heard on CSI NY
I dig it
Damn...nice job!
Fuck'n awesome Brother. 👍
Are you not dying for it, dear Sir ?
Since late 90's this hybrid style of combining folk country and hip-hop... a lot of it comes from Canada strangely
Love it!
West Spur
como me costo en encontrar esta cancion, y peor que es cover del original country, muchas gracias
always loved the original but this is so skanky and marvelous
