you two really give a good, clear and factual demonstration on this, there are loads of videos where the reviewer is the owner of the tool and therefore really talks it up but you two don’t do that. Top blokes, top review!
I've had the HiKoki for a while now and love it. But I was going to buy a Milwaukee tomorrow so I am glad this review popped up because I don't think I'll bother now. Cheers guys for another great review.
@@jethro1066 I don't see the point really. It's massive and you have to carry around a special compressor just for that nailer. I don't see why anyone would by that over a cordless nailer. To me it is an invention that has arrived 15 years too late.
Tools & Stuff interesting, I know we’ve chatted before and you made me cry about my hilti. I’m finally coming back to the land of the piss down. And was just wondering about a few tools. I’ve seen the prices for when I get home and they scare me, a little. So I was comprising a wish list in my head.nailer being one. Here’s one, do you ever use bumpfire?
I have the Hikoki framer running the 36v multi volt battery platform and a Hikoki 15ga finish nailer, both are brilliant and perform well ! Love using them !
I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.
I’ve had my hikoki for over a year now. We work with a lot of hardwood doing renovations. It’s been great although it doesn’t skew nail that well. My bosses paslode is a headache. It’s fussy, high maintenance and lacks power. Blows my mind the paslode guns are so expensive. I’d hand nail everything over buying one 😂
I have ran a Paslode framing and finish nailer for five years now. I just got the Milwaukee 30 degree framing nailer and 18 gauge finish nailer and they are my go to now. The bump fire setting is all I use and wished the Paslode guns had it in the past. The Hitachi as it's called here in the U.S was a consideration but I already had Milwaukee tools.
Hi guys. Great review, very thorough. I'm a carpenter and I've had the hikoki nailer for a couple of years. I really love it! I know fellas that have the DeWalt and paslode and they just don't compare in terms of power or speed or easy maintenance. Its so reliable, it works perfectly every single time and has never even jammed on me, even if it's left unused for months on end. You are right about the stupid rafter hook on it though, but hikoki do have a smaller hook, which is easily swapped out for that one and it's much nicer. I think the gun shuts off after like half an hour of non use but that doesn't really bother me.
I like my paslode, I use it for framing, sheathing, and siding when nails are appropriate. I use it year around, dirt, snow, rain, it works. Never had in issue with my new one for three years, but they do get grumpy when they get abused for a long time.
@@zaneh6224 The only problem I ever have with my Paslode is sometimes it starts dry firing because the follower in the magazine sticks. I believe its caused by the glue on the nails, so cleaning helps. Other than that it is extremely reliable.
Some of these guns can be finished?? That would be a godsend for me. I'm a woman that wants to finish my house correctly like a work of art. I even bought a nice router and table and bought $50 more a special bits. Feeling the Box because I have to learn quite a bit. I really appreciate all of your expert opinions I've bought a lot of Sears Craftsman products before. They do stand by their products not sure I'm sure can power tools. I would like to build things other than finish my home to make money at home. Like dog houses with special needs. I would like to take Consignments from people by looking at their home and their lifestyle with their dogs or whatever kind of pet they have.
Love the Hikoki, have one and don't mind the weight. My only wish is that the tip was a little more aggressive, like the paslodes. The same can be said for the Milwaukee, would benefit from an agressive tip. I wonder if it can be purchased as an aftermarket/upgrade part?
Great video guys. As much as the non gas nailers are reliable and powerful, I've never gone over to them purely based on their additional weight and bulkyness compared to the Paslode. I can fire a couple if thousand nails a day when roofing on a big job, and the extra weight is punishing on your wrist/arms. Its not usual to machine fun nails in like in your tests, so I don't find the Paslode wanting in that regard. You've just got to keep the thing clean. Cheers from the UK.
The power of these guns are better than in the early 90s. Paslode never had that much power. Air hoses used to drive me nuts. I just bought dewalt framing gun and finishing! If I have to I can do a fit out with no noisy compressor! Love these vids!!!🙂🙂🙂👍
Wish I'd have watched this a few years ago I got the dewalt and have recently moved to Milwaukee and its night and day the Milwaukee is absolutely brilliant I only wish I'd gone milwaukee the first time
Excellent and thorough review as always guy’s! You should give the paslode im360ci a bash! Probably still not the best but I won’t change it for anything. A friend I work with went through two default framers in 8 months and went back to paslode but is now using that hikoki which is a nice tool but by hell is that belt hook annoying
Great review! Thanks for also mention the noise level on your tools, thats the first thing I notice when buying tools. Gotta keep the noise down with tinnitus and sensitive to noises. Everyone should use earprotection, ask anyone with tinnitus.
Excellent review guys. Got my Milwaukee here in UK paid £500 body only.. absolutely love it, went from Paslode, yes a bit heavyer but it's well worth it! for me is much better balanced than Paslode, no more regular maintenance no more gas canister..
@@mymate18 it's been excellent mate no missed fire or single jam I've done countless partition walls with it, using 90mm ring shank nails I find it strange that I have an extended magazine on it and it feels lighter and balanced, also using 2 amp battery. it's alot heavier than Paslode, but so powerful.. I have 2 Chippys working with me and they love using the gun! especially outside on cold days, I also have the new 18 gauge model absolutely beautiful as well. If you do get one I do recommend you to get extended magazine as well, well worth it!
my paslode is coming up 16 years old and in need of replacement, so i tried a works mates hikoki for the day the deal breaker for meis the tip it just does not skew like a paslode does with its far superior tip 2nd the weight is insane not comfortable hanging from the apron, i loved the power but the first 2 reasons are the deal breaker for me unfortunately i'm getting another paslode.
Totally get that Adam. Weight is important, especially if it spends a lot of time hanging from your belt. This has become less problematic for me personally since I started using a shoulder harness with my belt. The Paslode tip probably is better, but keep in mind that you've probably gotten SO used to the Paslode that switching to another gun is just gonna feel wrong for a while. And being able to bump fire .... so useful. [Dwain]
@@OZToolTalk yeah even the old paslode tip is better the new one is a step above again, I also use a harness but weight is such an important factor for me. Also here in nz we can't have bump fire it's illegal for some absurd reason. Love the power of the new guns but for me paslode again... Maybe in another 15years!
Yeah mate ,if I'm doing a house frame my 30 year old Bostitch n80 does the job ,fast, light ,cheap to maintain. If I'm doing eaves etc and a hose is a hassle ,the Paslode works well.
I’ve never used one of these before however I am thinking about purchasing one to replace my entire back wall in the kitchen where the back door is,,,, I noticed these things shoots a nail a little below the surface of the wood sometimes is this the way they are supposed to function??? is it OK to have the nails a little below the surface of the wood???
nails SHOULD be sunk below the surface. in framing even up to 10mm is fine. in finish work the brad nails should also be left a couple of mm below surface.
Hello how are you. I have an older imct nailer . I lent it to someone, and it's not working . I took it apart much further, found the combustion chamber stuck and not moving. My manual has no instructions on reassemble. Where can I get better assembly instructions?
If all 4 were used equally for a year and the same tests were done then, do you think the results would the same? I guess durability could be a big factor for people looking to buy.
It all depends on the gun I have a paslode and love it wouldn’t change from paslode but one of the bloke I work with had issues with his so bought a Hikoki has had it about 2 months and it’s shit it self already and another bloke loves hikoki has all there cordless stuff and just bought a hikoki cordless dropsaw and he said he wouldn’t get the nailer
The Hikoki will fuck up after 6 months in the UK 4 guys bought the gun within 6 months of each other all different models all have the same problem of misfiring. The spring which pushes the nails up after a shot is just not strong enough this means you have to push the nails up after every shot. Consistent problem throughout different models. I wouldn't recommend the Hikoki to anyone
I'm doing my apprenticeship for a framing company. We build the frames lying down and stand them when finished framing. We use Milwaukee, paslodes and air compressor. Id say the milwauke is the fastest building frames due to its rapid fire. The air compressor can be just as fast if not faster but you have to pull the trigger each nail. Just have to be trigger happy. But for standing and nailing frames together prefer paslode as its so light and great at skewing nails. Prefer paslode for everything other than building frames due to its size and weight.
Hey guys , you might of missed pointing out that the Paslode shoots 9,000 shots per charge, and is the only framer on the market that shoots 50 and 65mm dekfast and cladfast nails and from a maintenance view, I maintain my gun over a beer (very simple) I have owned Pazzzys for 25 years and wouldn’t change as all these tools are not tried and tested over a long period
but battery charge yes, but not even close to that for the fuel cell. you have two power sources to manage, which is a slight negative to the Paslode. That's an interesting point about the dekfast and cladfast products (both Paslode proprietary). Are there similar products that will work in the battery nailers?
The nails mentioned only suit Paslode as they are an impulse product and come supplied with gas fuel cells , I haven’t seen any other brands with this product, but the way my current Paslode framer has fired 1.3 million shots, cheers
I'm afraid we aren't really active on youtube anymore. BUT i can tell you that the Metabo is basically a copy of the Hikoki. And we have reviewed the AEG/Rigid separately :D
My Milwaukee have problem fire 50mm nails, its seem 50mm just little bit short for the magazine, now it has nail head marks in side front of the magazine. And Milwaukee cannot fire 6mm OSB board, the nail will shoot through, I adjust nail depth with no change. Does anyone had same problem?
i have a couple of of delwalt guns the gen 3 is a great gun but the rafter hook kills me on it i don’t know why they changed it from the gen 1,2 it has fallen off my nail bag when i’ve been on the roof twice now surprisly the gun still works no problem. but my favourite gun i own would be my gen 1 that has a gen 3 motor in it! gave up on paslodes a few years ago and haven’t looked back i save $150 on nails a week and less missfiring
New to the channel but this is awesome production, very informative, I'm yet to own my first nail gun and was leaning on the paslode just because seems like everyones got one and has to be for a reason, but now I'm considering more the Milwaukee, thanks guys
I love my Hitachi/Hikoki I also have the brader as well... They haven't skipped a beat and just works when I want it to work. (I also have the AEG Brad nailers and prefer the Hitachi one over them) The weight you point out doesn't bother me and haven't really noticed it... My rafter hook isn't that big like the one you got... ? My "father in Law" been a builder for 50 odd years... and a Paslode user for years is seriously thinking of switching to Hitachi/Hikok after using mine for a while...
Just found the channel. Great comps, great reviews and I really like the rating system used. Looking forward to building up my tool collection using useful info from you gents
I bought one today to start on my deck diy project. 520A$ from SydneyTools in Sunshine, Vic. Didn’t really bargain hard, only asked for a discount. Thanks for the review.
I have the Hikoki, very well built great power, but its very difficult skewing nails in nogs and studs, sometimes you cant get the angle steep enough, plus the weight and bulkiness of it is a huge pain. Every now and then i get an episode of constant misfires which aggravates the shit out of me as it can be all day, ive thrown it off the ladder several times now. The Paslode is the perfect weight, size and shape, if they release one exactly like it with battery only, it would be PERFECT
Great review. I have owned a Paslode for many years and without a doubt its the most unreliable and frustrating tool i have ever owned. Many times i've wanted to smash the bloody thing. Doesn't matter how many times you clean it either. That's a poor excuse as i see it ,for a tool that lacks power and is so unreliable. My next will be Hikoki.
Hikoki is great in many areas. But my god the belt hook is awful & the weight can sometimes make life hard. But out the 4 it is my choice (haven’t used milwaukee)
Into KD F17 hardwood? We found that it might do a few, but if you asked it to sink more than that in the space of a few minutes, it couldn't. We also got a second unit to make sure it behaved the same (which it did). [Dwain]
I've had 2 Dewalt framers previous generation and neither have lasted very long before only shooting nails in halfway. Hopefully the gen 3 lasts. But ill stick with the Milwaukee
Landscaper who doesn’t use the gun everyday, mainly for decking and pergolas, really tossing up between the Milwaukee and the paslode what do you think !!
did you guys adjust the paslode nose piece. ive used the alot and they bury nails. I have to adjust the nose because im in formwork and we pull all our nails
Kind of glad I went with the Wilfuckyee nailer now. We don't get them as kits in NZ (or at least not that I know of) but I just got the skin on sale for $750 retail. I already have a pair of 5 amp batteries so that's no issue for me. I was looking at older second hand Paslodes but again thank christ I didn't get one. I'm not a chippie by any stretch of the imagination, but I do the odd construction project here and there so this looks like it'll do the job just fine.
Like the review I have the Milwaukee but hate the nitrogen cartridge drives me crazy it runs out always at bad times so I'm picking up the Dewalt I can deal with the noise if I don't need to deal with cartridges
Love the hikoki framing and finishing guns. I use them with a battery adaptor so I can use my Makita batteries since I don't use them often enough to warrant a hikoki charging station and batteries, but I'm also quite lazy.
Milwalkee also has an optional extended capacity magazine, it holds 93 nails, Hikoki has 6 year warranty Milwaukee 3 years, Hikoki comes with better higher capacity batteries, they also have redemptions on at the moment to get free batteries etc, Milwaukee don't, I am considering to Hikoki over the Milwaukee as guys I know have them and love em.
Parslow are the best nail guns handsdown they wear well they durable i’m not too sure where you had the depth gauge set on the Parslow but I’ve never had that problem before as much as you guys did cheers
we had the depth gauge on full power for both paslode guns we tested. i think our testing was harder on the guns because there would usually be more breaks between firing into HW on most sites. [Dwain]
My boss had a Paslode and I’ve got the Hitachi, in Nz timber the paslode leaves 10mm proud, Hitachi drives it flush. He’s got the hitchi now, no more messing with gas, the smell and the noise.
I currently run a Bostitch air framing gun, looking to switch up, but it seems like no option is perfect. With air I obviously have a hose and annoying compressor to cart around, but it's reliable AF and hella powerful. It seems that every Paslode used by a member of my crew has some issue or other - "finnicky" is right. With the battery-only options, it seems like the more powerful and reliable you go, you're also going more expensive, and substantially heavier. What's a scrawny carpenter to do?
Just don't get the paslode cordless finishing nailer the electronics are poorly designed and it breaks often, their framer and pneumatic tools are good
@@christopherlee622 the problem we have with the paslodes here in the UK are that they refuse to fire when it's cold as the gas doesn't like it. I recently bought the Milwaukee, I could have got the hikoki twin kit for only a little more money but I liked the look of the Milwaukee.
@@garethheathcote4988 yeah we run into that here in Alberta Canada as well, and the milwaukee as well as the hikoki both do a good job of dealing with this. I sell three of these guns at my job and get reviews back from direct and continuous use in the field. my comment on the finish nailer was more from a service perspective, where the design does cause the gun to break more often. the hikoki is the first to really unseat the paslode in regular use though even with the problems in the cold
I've had the paslode since it came to Ireland in 1998 always a good fun , but I've always had issues over price of nails and constant servicing and I've been thinking of going battery . You've just made up my mind . All the rest of my gear is Milwaukee so I can just buy bare tool and case . BOOM ! save a fortune on nails alone , thanks
I've had the hikoki framer for a couple of years now. Great power & shoots quickly, but anybody who owns one of these framers and uses them regularly will tell you 2 things: 1. The hook is annoying as anything. 2. It misfires. The hikokis have a tendency to misfire if you use any nails aside from paslode nails in them. Furthermore they have feeding issues which prevent smooth operation. I'm considering buying a paslode next.
I'm in the market for my first framing nailer. I was leaning toward the Paslode, but I'm rethinking it for the Milwaukee. My only concern with the M.. is the weight. 12 pounds seems like a lot.
@@OZToolTalk If you were in the market for your first nailer.. would you go with the Paslode or the Milwaukee? We're having a log home built and when its done, I plan to stick build the garage myself. I built a 12x16 shed with a loft a few years ago with a hammer and it was exhausting.. so I am definitely getting a nail gun for a larger garage build.
@@randomstuffwithjoe i say go for milwaukee if you already have milwaukee tool since youll already have some batteries, but if its your first tool go for a pasload its super realiable, i legit dropped mine from 3 floors and it is still working fine 😆 almost 3 years of use now!
Thanks for the review. So what's the difference between the gen 1, 2, and 3 of the Dewalt DCN692? And how do you tell the difference between the different generations in the store/online if they are all named the same?
Gen 3 has the speed and feed switch on the base of the gun below the handgrip. Gen 2 has the switch’s on side up top above the hand grip. Also the price, gen 3 presently only one selling for 529 as a kit.
Advice needed please. Love the channel, I love DIY and I’m in the middle of renovating a property. I need to erect feather board fencing around the perimeter of the garden. I currently have 18 & 16 gauge nailers. I’m guessing these are too lightweight to attach the boards. What nailer type / nail length would you recommend? Thanks in advance
So.. have you thrown them "dropped" from a roof onto a concrete floor? the good old paslode I have had for years just bounces and you pick it up and keep going! How do these other ones stand up?
No Makita? I am into the 18v platform... so wanted a Makita gun GN900SE (UK) but it does not seem to be there in terms of performance (as in way off). I get when you commit to a platform some tools will not be first in category but performance is not so far off that you would get the tool in a different platform. Nail guns seems to be an exception. I was thinking Paslode but then maintenance, cost of gas etc, puts me off - so thinking Hikoki if Makita is so much worse? What do you think?
Well presented and genuine. Really good. Following you guys. I have a paslode. It drives me crazy with missfires. Going to have a look at a new desalt at that price
The NR1890DBCL hikoki framing gun says it’s a 30 degree cartridge on the box. Says nothing in the instructions and then on at least two major chains in Aus they say it uses 34 degree nails. Just wondering what nails it takes? Did you use exactly the save nails in this? We’re they 34 degree or 30 degree?
I'm a technician at a tool retailer in Melbourne Best guns in my opinion is 1. Paslode- light easy to work on, easy diagnosis and overall the best framing gun. 2. Dewalt- all mechanical and a simple design thats reliable. ( shoots a little slow ) 3. Hikoki- heavy, powerful, but I see these the most for failure and warranty returns, full of electronics and can be hard to diagnose. Milwaukee is a new unit, have not delt with them as much, but I do think it will overtake hikoki in the coming months.
Glad you mentioned the weight. The milwaukee is the heaviest of these guns by far, it's very noticeably heavier. Even with the 3 amp batteries that come in kits
@@OZToolTalk good point, after looking it up it's about an 80 gram drop for the 3amp high output vs a 30gram increase to the 5amp original battery so i suppose it's less relevant than i implied. Overestimated the weight of the lith-ion cells
I've ran Paslode, and now run the Hikoki. There is no weight issue as far as I am concerned. The only issue it's got is the positioning of the controls and the ridiculously shite belt/rafter hook. Great round up as always fellas. 🤙
hi guys, I bought the dewalt framer 692) on your advice after watching this vid three weeks ago - cheers for the vid. after initialy working really well (started today) using 50mm nails, it will now only fire the 75mm nails, refusing to fire the 50mm ones. Ive read the manual, done everything in trouble shooting guide. It is not a blockage, it just now refuses to fire the 50mm nails. is this a common issue? am I doing someting wrong? I cant find any advice online as this is a new bit of kit.
Excellent review video. But was hoping the paslode was the im90ci. Like to compare that with the milwaukee and hikoki as im planning to buy one but not sure whether the im90ci is any better than the hikoki or the milwy.
This is a really good review, it should be mentioned that no manufacturer designs these as primary guns so if you use them that way service requirements do go up a bit
Paslode are designed as primary guns,Paslode has shot counters that top out at 1.6million shots but the guns keep going regardless-not one of the other brands can make that statement.
@@ashmayer2916 I would believe that, they get used that way for sure. I was just lumping them in with the design focus of the other guns, and must admit I haven't looked into the paslode design focus for myself. I have heard it from every other company rep though that their gun is meant as a backup
just checked milwuakee with battery (5.0) and charger is 649$ at homedepot in canada and without a doubt could be found a tad cheaper but homedepot is a good baseline in north america i think the two 3.0s would suffice for running the nailer if you didnt have many or any other m18 tools by the time you shoot through one 3.0 the other would be charged only what a 40min charge time on basic charger for a 3.0
Do you know which brands framing nailers change to finish nailers by chance? I apologize for picking your brain. Bearded woman still goes the same when you're trying to buy from the dealer in person. It's just the way it is. I'm ignorant Tuesday wings that I haven't learned but I'm not stupid. I treat everyone with respect and expect the same but it is never going to happen so accept it. I'll be watching more of your shows. I will let my guy friends know about you all. You can tell I'm kind of from the south in America.
Can anyone tell me how long does the Hikoki 5ah battery last, just doing a day of frames... straight up just knocking up and standing frames the whole day? Do you go through 1 battery, 2...? Or is there a theoretical number of nails that the gun can shoot on one full 5ah charge?
ive had the hikokis for a while now. little on the heavy size but you get used to it. the hook is rubbish but if ur niffty its easy to modify. theres some after market ones on ebay. i could never understand why a passy gas cost $18. absolute bullshit. glad to see some good competition out there now. nice video boys.
Been looking for a while now and I'm in two minds between the Paslode and the Dewalt. Probably go with Dewalt as i have 3 x 5 and 2 x 9amp batteries. We in the UK are being ripped off big time if that's what you guys are paying, so cheap. Also, can't believe i've just listened to 2 Aussies for 28 mins and there was only one swear word!! Good work fellas, all the best from the motherland.
I like the Milwaukee, but i don't like the weight. The Dewalt i like but i hate the fan that makes to much noise before each shot. I have had and used several Paslodes, they are very temperamental guns, always something not right with them, but if they are on they are great. Good comparison though, very informative, i'm wanting to buy the Milwaukee but the weight has got me second guessing buying one.
Excellent review, however, I think I would have put a bit more emphasis on the fact that the Milwaukee can 'optionally' hold twice as many nails as the others.
Hey guys I have to ask what were the depth adjustments you had on the guns? cause I have noticed about any proudness of the guns shooting nails, I used paslode fairly commonly for a while before I switched to the MIlwaukee and use the paslode for a backup .. but my paslode very very rarely shoots nails proud, skewing or straight down ? I mean every one has their own settings on the guns, I havent got mine maxed out so Im just curious to know about the guns depth settings? I love the Milwaukee and the paslode, both are amazing guns in their own right , MIlwaukee is great for the raw power it has and no gas of course, Paslode i like for the lightness mostly , I would love to see milwaukee and other brands somehow reduce the weight in future designs .... I think it be awesome to see paslode bring out a gasless range eventually, I mean gas guns are good , but eventually will be no longer wanted.... and since other companies are bring out gasless framers out , I mean paslode will soon be out gunned in the market what are your thoughts about that, do you think be cool to see paslode bring out a gasless (battery only) range in the not to distant future? and maybe competitor brands bring out a lighter weight model as well while doing their best to maintain as much power as they can ?
I think it's only a matter of time before Paslode bring out a battery-only nailer. I think Paslode punches the nails VERY hard initially, but starts to leave them proud as you use it in quick succession (at least in our findings). All nailers were definitely at their max depth setting.
I got the dewalt in the UK as a bare unit with 10% off from screwfix (bought a drill with a battery and got 10% off any bare tool) for £225, its at least as good as my pneumatic with a full compressor tank and better when the tank is low, as for weight, the dewalt wins hands down when you consider trailing a hose behind the gun, doesnt have the same nail capacity but no issue there, yeah the ramp up is a pain, I cant see why they couldn't have a mode where the flywheel was always run up but still needed the tip seated and a trigger pull to fire, one other thing, bumpfire is as agood as uselss with 90mm nails, always leaves the head sticking out, 50mm and 75mm, no problem!
What's your thoughts on the milwaukee now its been out for a while? I've talked to total tools and they are having plenty come back. With them playing up. (Mostly due to running out of nitrogen) Just wondering whether you will be doing another review with the new paslode out and talk about reliability of these framers?
Hi Dean. Excellent question, that I'm afraid won't have a good answer. Reliability is REALLY hard to speak to on a public forum. We can't get hold of return rates and couldn't back up anything we said with any evidence. I'm sure there are plenty of Milwaukee's in for repair, but I also know that they sold the living shit out of them. With higher sales comes higher returns.

Best damn tool reviews on the net! Well done boys bloody top work 🤘 really appreciate it. I'm getting a Hikoki in NZ this weekend.
Thanks Dave!
No bump fire on NZ models
@@kurt9055 yeah I'm fine with that. It would be nice to have but I never have to nail that fast anyways 😂

Ok boys I lied 😂 just walked out of the tool shop with the Milwaukee
Best comparison video I've seen so far on cordless framing nailers. Thanks guys!
Glad you liked it!
I’d hand nail everything over buying one 😂
cheers for the feedback Josh
I have ran a Paslode framing and finish nailer for five years now. I just got the Milwaukee 30 degree framing nailer and 18 gauge finish nailer and they are my go to now. The bump fire setting is all I use and wished the Paslode guns had it in the past. The Hitachi as it's called here in the U.S was a consideration but I already had Milwaukee tools.
Makes good sense Dale :D
it's called metabo hpt now in the US
I think the gun shuts off after like half an hour of non use but that doesn't really bother me.
cheers Dan, nice feedback.
Hi Dan, do you have the miss fire issue on your Hikoki nailer?
I like my paslode, I use it for framing, sheathing, and siding when nails are appropriate. I use it year around, dirt, snow, rain, it works. Never had in issue with my new one for three years, but they do get grumpy when they get abused for a long time.
good to hear Bannock!
I’ve had mine over 12 years. Serviced every year. Out kicks mates new paslode.
I like the paslode for doing the roof and little things but air for the rest. Paslode I can also clean and service myself.
Yep, I have had my Paslode framers for many years, they have served me well, ultra reliable, easy to service myself,
@@zaneh6224 The only problem I ever have with my Paslode is sometimes it starts dry firing because the follower in the magazine sticks. I believe its caused by the glue on the nails, so cleaning helps. Other than that it is extremely reliable.
Love the Hikoki (Metabo HPT in the states) I will say that it would be nice to have the option to throw an extended magazine on it though
Hikoki have released a new spring which makes it wayyy softer so you don’t have to use so much force and genuinely makes the gun seem lighter now
Mick Quaid really? Where do you buy?

agreed, that's what we did.
Gen 3 is working great and a no brainer for me at the moment, though bunnings running a paslode framer and finisher for $1299
Love the Hikoki, have one and don't mind the weight. My only wish is that the tip was a little more aggressive, like the paslodes. The same can be said for the Milwaukee, would benefit from an agressive tip. I wonder if it can be purchased as an aftermarket/upgrade part?
Don't think so, I wonder if they could be work a bit?
Totally agree. Skew nailing with those small tips is a bit annoying.
I literally sharpened up the tip of my hikoki framer during my lunch on Wednesday and it is MUCH better now. Skewing nails has never been easier.
Cheers from the UK.
yep I can absolutely see this position. I thought in retrospect that we probably weighted too heavily towards speed...
You need a hammer with Pasload. 😂
I keep 2 guns in my Ute.. paslode and hikoki, paslode for pine and hikoki for when I’m working with hardwood. Never have any issues
nice Harry
The power of these guns are better than in the early 90s. Paslode never had that much power. Air hoses used to drive me nuts. I just bought dewalt framing gun and finishing! If I have to I can do a fit out with no noisy compressor! Love these vids!!!🙂🙂🙂👍
cheers mate
Wish I'd have watched this a few years ago I got the dewalt and have recently moved to Milwaukee and its night and day the Milwaukee is absolutely brilliant I only wish I'd gone milwaukee the first time
Excellent and thorough review as always guy’s! You should give the paslode im360ci a bash! Probably still not the best but I won’t change it for anything. A friend I work with went through two default framers in 8 months and went back to paslode but is now using that hikoki which is a nice tool but by hell is that belt hook annoying
Interesting thoughts
Dewalt is crap went through 2 in 6 months
Great review! Thanks for also mention the noise level on your tools, thats the first thing I notice when buying tools. Gotta keep the noise down with tinnitus and sensitive to noises.
Everyone should use earprotection, ask anyone with tinnitus.

Passy. The others are too heavy to throw easily ;)
Excellent review guys. Got my Milwaukee here in UK paid £500 body only.. absolutely love it, went from Paslode, yes a bit heavyer but it's well worth it! for me is much better balanced than Paslode, no more regular maintenance no more gas canister..
Nice
hows it holding up want to get one but heard they break?
@@mymate18 it's been excellent mate no missed fire or single jam I've done countless partition walls with it, using 90mm ring shank nails
I find it strange that I have an extended magazine on it and it feels lighter and balanced, also using 2 amp battery.
it's alot heavier than Paslode, but so powerful..
I have 2 Chippys working with me and they love using the gun! especially outside on cold days, I also have the new 18 gauge model absolutely beautiful as well.
If you do get one I do recommend you to get extended magazine as well,
well worth it!

my paslode is coming up 16 years old and in need of replacement, so i tried a works mates hikoki for the day the deal breaker for meis the tip it just does not skew like a paslode does with its far superior tip 2nd the weight is insane not comfortable hanging from the apron, i loved the power but the first 2 reasons are the deal breaker for me unfortunately i'm getting another paslode.
I don't know about all the nail guns but the paslode has an adjustment on the nose where you can set how far you want to set the nail in
Hello how are you.

I guess durability could be a big factor for people looking to buy.
that's the million dollar question. unfortunately we can't answer it :/
It all depends on the gun I have a paslode and love it wouldn’t change from paslode but one of the bloke I work with had issues with his so bought a Hikoki has had it about 2 months and it’s shit it self already and another bloke loves hikoki has all there cordless stuff and just bought a hikoki cordless dropsaw and he said he wouldn’t get the nailer
I’ve been running the Hikoki Frammer for almost a year..zero issues and the thing gets used daily
Don't buy a DeWalt one if you want to talk more with the DeWalt customer service than with your wife....
Prefer paslode for everything other than building frames due to its size and weight.
absolutely understand that sentiment! thanks for your thoughts!
Hey guys it would be epic if you could do a new comparison now that there are more brands and new models out!
Does anyone had same problem?
interesting feedback.
i have a couple of of delwalt guns the gen 3 is a great gun but the rafter hook kills me on it i don’t know why they changed it from the gen 1,2 it has fallen off my nail bag when i’ve been on the roof twice now surprisly the gun still works no problem.
but my favourite gun i own would be my gen 1 that has a gen 3 motor in it!

Like the review I have the Milwaukee but hate the nitrogen cartridge drives me crazy it runs out always at bad times so I'm picking up the Dewalt I can deal with the noise if I don't need to deal with cartridges
Love the hikoki framing and finishing guns. I use them with a battery adaptor so I can use my Makita batteries since I don't use them often enough to warrant a hikoki charging station and batteries, but I'm also quite lazy.
would you mind sending me to the right direction in finding the same adapter please?
Can you please send me the link to get the adapter please?
Milwalkee also has an optional extended capacity magazine, it holds 93 nails, Hikoki has 6 year warranty Milwaukee 3 years, Hikoki comes with better higher capacity batteries, they also have redemptions on at the moment to get free batteries etc, Milwaukee don't, I am considering to Hikoki over the Milwaukee as guys I know have them and love em.

Thanks for the feedback David. I hope it serves you very well!
I've had the hikoki framer for a couple of years now. Great power & shoots quickly, but anybody who owns one of these framers and uses them regularly will tell you 2 things:
1. The hook is annoying as anything.
2. It misfires.
The hikokis have a tendency to misfire if you use any nails aside from paslode nails in them. Furthermore they have feeding issues which prevent smooth operation.
I'm considering buying a paslode next.
thanks for the feedback T7 :D
Just out of curiosity, what spacing is common in the metric world?
I'm in the market for my first framing nailer. I was leaning toward the Paslode, but I'm rethinking it for the Milwaukee. My only concern with the M.. is the weight. 12 pounds seems like a lot.

So what's the difference between the gen 1, 2, and 3 of the Dewalt DCN692?
And how do you tell the difference between the different generations in the store/online if they are all named the same?
It says type 3 on the body. Only the type 3 is any good.
Gen 3 has the speed and feed switch on the base of the gun below the handgrip. Gen 2 has the switch’s on side up top above the hand grip. Also the price, gen 3 presently only one selling for 529 as a kit.

Makita don't make a battery nailer, which was the main point of this comparison. They have a gas gun (which also uses a small battery)
The Makita gas framer is just an old Paslode design, it will still need to be cleaned and serviced same as a Paslode gun.
Well presented and genuine. Really good. Following you guys. I have a paslode. It drives me crazy with missfires. Going to have a look at a new desalt at that price
Thanks for the support Paul. Nice one :D
The NR1890DBCL hikoki framing gun says it’s a 30 degree cartridge on the box. Says nothing in the instructions and then on at least two major chains in Aus they say it uses 34 degree nails.
Just wondering what nails it takes? Did you use exactly the save nails in this? We’re they 34 degree or 30 degree?
framing nails in Aus are 34deg, so that's what we used. It's quite likely it can do either, with a different magazine I presume?
I'm a technician at a tool retailer in Melbourne
Best guns in my opinion is
1. Paslode- light easy to work on, easy diagnosis and overall the best framing gun.
2. Dewalt- all mechanical and a simple design thats reliable. ( shoots a little slow )
3. Hikoki- heavy, powerful, but I see these the most for failure and warranty returns, full of electronics and can be hard to diagnose.
Milwaukee is a new unit, have not delt with them as much, but I do think it will overtake hikoki in the coming months.
Love the feedback ben!!
Any update since you made this comment, Ben?
Glad you mentioned the weight. The milwaukee is the heaviest of these guns by far, it's very noticeably heavier. Even with the 3 amp batteries that come in kits
well unfortunately the 3Ah batts in the kit or basically the same weight as a 4/5/6Ah battery. to reduce the weight you need a slim battery.
@@OZToolTalk good point, after looking it up it's about an 80 gram drop for the 3amp high output vs a 30gram increase to the 5amp original battery so i suppose it's less relevant than i implied. Overestimated the weight of the lith-ion cells
Oh by farrrrrr yeah cuz a few ounces must feel like poundsssss. Go lift some weights hater
What about Bostitch?
Do they even make a cordless nailer?
I've ran Paslode, and now run the Hikoki.
There is no weight issue as far as I am concerned.
The only issue it's got is the positioning of the controls and the ridiculously shite belt/rafter hook.
Great round up as always fellas. 🤙

Would love you to review the im90ci to see how it compares
sorry unlikely.
I can say it's more powerful than IM 350 and also bit heavier, works much better on cold temperatures.
I feel hikoki and Milwaukee is a similar obviously Milwaukee touch more power but is that extra power needed for another 300grams?
Milwaukee seems to be the newest generation to me.
hi guys, I bought the dewalt framer 692) on your advice after watching this vid three weeks ago - cheers for the vid. after initialy working really well (started today) using 50mm nails, it will now only fire the 75mm nails, refusing to fire the 50mm ones. Ive read the manual, done everything in trouble shooting guide. It is not a blockage, it just now refuses to fire the 50mm nails. is this a common issue? am I doing someting wrong? I cant find any advice online as this is a new bit of kit.
hmm that's weird. I don't use 50mm nails much, but haven't had an issue with them. Gonna have to give Dewalt a call soz.
Excellent review video. But was hoping the paslode was the im90ci. Like to compare that with the milwaukee and hikoki as im planning to buy one but not sure whether the im90ci is any better than the hikoki or the milwy.
I've never heard anyone talk highly of the im90
This is a really good review, it should be mentioned that no manufacturer designs these as primary guns so if you use them that way service requirements do go up a bit
Paslode are designed as primary guns,Paslode has shot counters that top out at 1.6million shots but the guns keep going regardless-not one of the other brands can make that statement.
@@ashmayer2916 I would believe that, they get used that way for sure. I was just lumping them in with the design focus of the other guns, and must admit I haven't looked into the paslode design focus for myself. I have heard it from every other company rep though that their gun is meant as a backup
Loved the review!! Tks guys!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
just checked milwuakee with battery (5.0) and charger is 649$ at homedepot in canada and without a doubt could be found a tad cheaper but homedepot is a good baseline in north america
i think the two 3.0s would suffice for running the nailer if you didnt have many or any other m18 tools by the time you shoot through one 3.0 the other would be charged only what a 40min charge time on basic charger for a 3.0
Which one will work best in the rain as I live in the UK And getting annoyed with paslode
I'm not sure, but I could imagine the battery nailers being less impeded by rain that the ignition style fuel cell of the paslode. [Dwain]
Both my hikoki have stopped working through rain
matty climo Has it been confirmed it was due to the rain? Seems odd, have you taken it in to service cetnre? What did they say ?
anyone made a new hook for the Dewalt? great gun but the hook is trash
I also want to know the answer to this [Dwain]
Any chance of a finisher nailer review?
we've reviewed finished nailers from all of these battery brands. But a comparison? Probably not sorry.
The one Ive been hanging out for! Pity I've already bought one.
Can you please state where each tool is made.
Bit late for that sorry. Can probably Google it I guess?
@@OZToolTalk maybe do it in future reviews?
Maybe
I would assume China for all three.
Can anyone tell me how long does the Hikoki 5ah battery last, just doing a day of frames... straight up just knocking up and standing frames the whole day? Do you go through 1 battery, 2...? Or is there a theoretical number of nails that the gun can shoot on one full 5ah charge?
It's in the video on the spec sheet at 5:08. It's about 700 nails for the Hikoki per 5Ah battery
How about using yellow pine .
yellow pine?
@@OZToolTalk yellow pine wood. Its alot harder . It's used alot in Texas.
ive had the hikokis for a while now. little on the heavy size but you get used to it. the hook is rubbish but if ur niffty its easy to modify. theres some after market ones on ebay. i could never understand why a passy gas cost $18. absolute bullshit. glad to see some good competition out there now. nice video boys.
thanks Ryan
Great review. Very real world tests and comparisons
thanks Michael!
Cheers Jel! Haha :D
I like the Milwaukee, but i don't like the weight. The Dewalt i like but i hate the fan that makes to much noise before each shot. I have had and used several Paslodes, they are very temperamental guns, always something not right with them, but if they are on they are great. Good comparison though, very informative, i'm wanting to buy the Milwaukee but the weight has got me second guessing buying one.
thanks for the feedback John. It's not as easy decision huh?!
Excellent review, however, I think I would have put a bit more emphasis on the fact that the Milwaukee can 'optionally' hold twice as many nails as the others.
Did we mention it at all? I can't remember. I don't think it would have played strongly into scoring, but it's important for some people.

I think it be awesome to see paslode bring out a gasless range eventually, I mean gas guns are good , but eventually will be no longer wanted.... and since other companies are bring out gasless framers out , I mean paslode will soon be out gunned in the market
what are your thoughts about that, do you think be cool to see paslode bring out a gasless (battery only) range in the not to distant future? and maybe competitor brands bring out a lighter weight model as well while doing their best to maintain as much power as they can ?
I feel like this is where Total Tools got the sound effects for their radio add. haha
haha we wish *royalties!
What's your thoughts on the milwaukee now its been out for a while? I've talked to total tools and they are having plenty come back. With them playing up. (Mostly due to running out of nitrogen)
Just wondering whether you will be doing another review with the new paslode out and talk about reliability of these framers?
