- After using this iPod touch 6th generation for a few weeks, I came to the conclusion that it definitely isn't daily driver material. Even though many aspects of the device still hold up surprisingly well, there's one big downside that makes it useless as an everyday device.

I love my iPod touch it plays all of my music I will never give it up. Useless is not the right word for it since it is still used by many many people.

I won't call it useless, it does it's job perfectly as a media player, especially if you're someone who goes to the gym and needs a light and thin music player instead of ur heavy phone in ur pockets.
Mate I still got my ancient iPod Touch 2G purchased early 2009. Old but still handy, I still have my old songs purchased from the Apple Store, good for offline music. Still handy for me.

Calling it useless is a little harsh. A lot of apps still run with iOS 12, There’s honestly a lot you can still do with it

@@Gabriel_Aybar It’s actually about as good as the 4s or 5 or since it’s 8 megapixel. The iPhone 4 was 5mp and could only record 720P video where at the iPod touch can do 1080P. For some basic photos with good lighting it’s pretty decent still, not horrible by any means but not great either.

I just ordered a iPod Touch 6th Gen 32GB that I’m gonna use as a handheld recorder for practice & a mini music studio with FL Studio Mobile(Which still supports iOS 12) & my adapter that allows me to plug up my MIDI keyboard & audio interface.

I found if I turn off the push for mail and then below that. Set it to manually the battery helps
I bought an iPhone 5/5S battery case for my iPod touch. It was perfect. iPod is so small, I didn’t mind the bulk.

Agreed... if you insist on having a portable large capacity music player (i.e. no phone capabilities) just get the iPod Touch 7th gen 256gb or iPod Classic 7th gen 160gb.
I have one that got lost somewhere. I brought it in late 2018 which was a bad decision. I tried to jailbreak it but I ended up screwing up the Wi-Fi and now is hardly connects to internet.
I just recovered my ipod 4th gen, still usable but you really don't want to open the app store, still serves as a music player so it is a perfectly usable ipod
i got mine new back in like 2016 and it has a cracked screen and the battery lasts like 30 minutes
Won’t download apps now. It asks to add payment method and after you do, it brings you back to the app you want to download. You click download and it asks for your Apple ID password and then asks for you to add a payment method again. Over and over. Is there a way around this????

I have a iPod 6th gen the battery is running down really fast but other than that very nice I have a iPhone 13 as my main device but not bad tbh
I would not call it useless. I own an iPhone 5 (which is a full 4 years older than this iPod) and it still soldiers on as:
* Emergency phone (iMessage works as well).
* Dedicated offline music player (wired and wireless headphones can be used)
* Workout companion (Fitbit app still works).
* Dedicated video camera (my main recording device for my YT channel).
That iPod could still be used for some of the above
I agree with all your points! I’m more getting at that a used iPhone accomplishes all the things an iPod can do and more, and for a similar price (or less! Since iPods are now more collectible)

I have 3 of them and the battery on all of them is trash. But even with a replacement battery it’s bad. It won’t even hold an hour of heavy using.

To this day …. I can’t relate to the obsession about “bezels” or not having any. Where did this desire for no bezels come from? Also … low resolution? It’s a Retina display. Does it need to be higher rez?.
Honestly I’ve gotten so used to the full screen with notch/hole punch display for content viewing, so the iPod bezel look was a bit of a downgrade imo

Joke aside mine found a new life recently. I bought a DJI drone which is supposed to be controlled by a phone but the app is not working on my Galaxy S7... The tiny ipod can run it tho and it'a a live savier because I don't have to upgrade my phone yet.
I still have my 6. Tip don’t download all ur music storage is crap. Just have a charger and wifi out in the open and you can enjoy your music. Or only Download music that you like all the time and never skip

personally I wish apple would bring back the iPod touch. reason why because they were so cheep to use for Xcode development and also amazing for kids and introducing them into iOS before buying them I iPhone.
You could still buy a used iPhone for those purposes! But yea it’s more of a hassle than just buying a new iPod for sure

Tbh i get why the ipod looks outdated, the last design refresh was in 2012 and obviously it’s been 11 years so bezels have come a long way. Even in 2018 it looked outdated tbh
batt replacement on these is a decent first soldering project. all i need it for is for music in the car and snapchat filters for my little one. it's actually kind of cool to have a "disposable" phone for the little one to take pics and vids with, too.

I’m on the 6th gen as my main and only phone. The battery life sucks, you can not use data on it, WiFi only, it’s tiny, there are not a lot of case options, i have the 32 gig version I do not recommend it. It has lasted a very long time though. I got it when I was 9 and I’m 13 right know. Oh wait my 20% battery notification just popped up, and it was on the charger 1 hour ago. DO NOT BUY!!

You're lucky to have an ipod, cuz I have an ipad 2 that can't even run a lot of apps, this can run IOS 15, mine runs IOS 9... most apps are for IOS 12-15

No. Ipod 4th gen is useless. This still does something. I am an android guy and the only apple product i had was the 4th gen ipod. I hate apple.

Android is better at aking longer lasting phones software wise, but Apple still makes great tech nevertheless
False Android usually only 3-4 updates mean while iPhone has a 6-8 years support
I totally disagree..I love using it to listen to audiobooks on a daily basis..I don't want to use my phone because it's too heavy..an ipod touch even with a case is light and you can add a lot of books if it has 32GB memory..which mine had until it got stuck and I cannot get it to work.
That’s valid! I do see the benefits now that we have huge phablets chilling in our pockets. It’s a nice dedicated audio device for sure
