My son Mike Jones just passed away this week from a 6 year battle with brain cancer. He loved ABR. Thank you to Matt Greiner for the love and support he has given us. Eternally grateful.
Jesse-John Witkowski never listened to melodic doom metal then XD but seriously though if you want feels look up swallow the sun the emerald forest and the blackbird (its about a father comforting his dying son and speaking about how he has wonderous things waiting in the afterlife and to not be afraid)
My brother in law is days away from passing of cancer. I loved him as a brother despite our bloodlines. The words in this song, coupled with the anger, rage, sadness, and hope of the music, perfectly encapsulate the experience of losing someone. The ability of ABR to construct a masterpiece of expression, projecting a shared understanding of the experience, and vision of love and hope is truly a gift from God. I'm truly thankful for this band.
My mom was diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks ago and I just kinda remembered about this song. I haven't really listened to ABR in a few years as my musical tastes have largely shifted away from heavy music, but coming at this song with fresh ears and a different perspective in life and this song really packs a punch now. It may be a long road to recovery but I'm still trying to come to grips with. I know Jake and the guys won't read the comment, but thanks anyway for the song and the catharsis.
Just came back from my 7th ABR show and they played this song. I screamed at the top of my lungs these lyrics in the back of the room not worrying about what others thought of me. And at the end of the song Jake said "this one goes out to those who have lost a loved one" I then burst into tears. RIP Nana & Tata Tapia.
It's currently midnight, I have work at 7am but I'm fully content with staying up and jamming some ABR! I'm gonna listen to Constellations and Guardians after I'm done listening to this 10/10 masterpiece of an album.

Christopher Epperson I have a different meaning of this song, been listening sine they day they released it. ABR is one of favorite bands, but I don't crave eternity, I only crave success.
Taiga What success is there in a grave? If not for yourself how will the people be successful from your death, not meaning their against you but rather would they react negatively from your death? I would think that the news would have told you by now that people matter more than money. But I understand if you didn't get the memo, the media isn't exactly coherent.
Thank you August Burns Red for writing this song. My girlfriend left this year to go to school in Florida, I live in Canada. Point is I showed her this song before we left because of the lines "I can't hear your voice, but thats okay cause I can feel you in my heart." I always had this thing with her that we said our hearts would be able to feel eachother even if we weren't physically around for eachother. Just know August Burns Red you guys are the reason I'll be with her forever.
May be several years since you posted that comment, but I hope you are doing well and found peace of mind in your life. God bless, stay healthy and safe for as long as you may live.
There is beauty in tragedy The heart won't stop beating, For the end is a new beginning Where sorrow pulls the skyline of reality And restarts a love ever after As we grasp beyond defeat So keep us breathing a little longer a little longer For just one moment with one another with one another This night is falling on my hearts shame These feelings bring tears to my eyes Just take away my world, Leave my side Hear the angels sing, As I embrace you with a warm welcome home With a warm welcome home Hear the angels sing Hear the angels sing Tomorrow, the air will be a little colder But I'll be sure to breathe for the both of us. And the nights May be a little darker But I'll be sure to carry the torch to warm the hearts They're never gonna have to feel yours I can hear your voice, I can't hear your voice But that's okay 'Cause I can feel you in my heart
Recently unexpectedly lost my mother . This song makes it all a little bit easier. One day we'll be reunited mom, I love you. RIP Deborah Merce 4/9/52-12/18/22
To those saying this song is about God: From an interview with Jake "Jake Luhrs: That lyric I wrote basically because I was thinking about losing someone close to you. In all reality, I was sitting in a cabin where I was for a week to get away and write, and it popped in my mind about Vigil (Jonathan) from The Ghost Inside; he recently lost his father, and I've toured with him in the past and I really like that guy, I think he really has a good heart and I love him...and when I heard that, it really did break my heart. But when I was writing about the loss of someone, I thought of him and I thought of Dustin our bassist, how he had lost his uncle and I believe he has lost his aunt too. The premise of the song is basically to take what you know about a person you love, and to carry them on in your life, and to use what they've taught you and to take their wisdom and knowledge and to share it with everyone else; carrying that person's name within you as you'd carry someone's legacy. So the one line "I'll write your name in the sand, where the waves can't wash it away" is essentially saying "I'll make an imprint for you in this world that's dedicated to you through what you taught me, and that won't ever go - that's permanent, that's forever". That's what that line meant to me."
If you can't see the mastery of music in this album and meaning behind it, then that's your opinion. This music is definitely a master piece. I can feel music. I've never listened to music that has let me feel emotion like this. This band is definitely a band to remember and love.

For real. Pangaea could definitely be my favorite ABR song. The time signature changes throughout that song are so flawless. They take that riff about a minute in that starts in 5/4, and subtly change it to make it 3/4, even though without really analyzing it, it sounds like the same riff...completely brilliant. Amazing song all the way through. Rationalist is another pretty good one.

The heart won't stop beating,
For the end is a new beginning
Where sorrow pulls the skyline of reality
And restarts a love ever after
As we grasp beyond defeat
So keep us breathing a little longer a little longer
For just one moment with one another with one another
This night is falling on my hearts shame
These feelings bring tears to my eyes
Just take away my world,
Leave my side
Hear the angels sing,
As I embrace you with a warm welcome home
With a warm welcome home
Hear the angels sing
Hear the angels sing
Tomorrow, the air will be a little colder
But I'll be sure to breathe for the both of us.
And the nights
May be a little darker
But I'll be sure to carry the torch to warm the hearts
They're never gonna have to feel yours
I can hear your voice,
I can't hear your voice
But that's okay
'Cause I can feel you in my heart
Wrong.. that never got to feel yours

The heart won't stop beating,
But the end is a new beginning..."

totally feel you on that one man. so much emotion. I love it
My favorite song from these guys. Those lyrics and riffs. Holy shit!
(3) One morning I'll wake up to you. One morning, I'll hear the angels sing. On that morning, we won't be worried about the weather, nor will we mind where the hands lay on the clocktower. I'll be sure to write your name in the sand where the waves can't wash it away. Until then I'll walk, until then I'll breathe, in your name. Never surrender the dream you had for this world: to love, to forgive, to make something out of nothing. I will you feel you, I will hear you forever.'
Awesome song and some pretty insane artwork to go with that! Well done
